Stopped in Volendam for a cheese making tour and tasting. Interesting fact: storms and melting water on the Zuiderzee caused flooding disasters in 1916. Dykes were since built to prevent the sea from repeating this disaster. As a result, the newly formed lake is now brackish instead of Salt water, which had major consequences for the fisherman. Pretty boardwalk.

Took a day trip to Holland’s countryside. Toured a sawmill in Zaanse Schans, a picturesque windmill village, which was super cool and only used power from the wind! Also had many farms, cheese and clog shops.

Went to Anne Frank's house which was very sad. What a brave and courageous young girl to be in hiding for two years only to be captured and sent off to Auschwitz Poland to be murdered 5 months later because she was Jewish

Spent the weekend with Gaby. Saw a double rainbow from end to end on Saturday night. Surely this was Mom saying hello! Also saw part of the Chicago Marathon which is so inspiring!
