I think what tcw got wrong about Anakin, and why I can never fully immerse myself in the story no matter how much I love the series, is that Anakin isn’t some jock/popular-aligned/macho-light w/ anger issues/possessive of his girl/action hero/stoic/terminator with a lightsaber they portray him as. When they fucked up his face I knew I wasn’t going to like it. Anakin is this incredibly pretty, desperate-to-please-but-not-wanting-to show-it, traumatized “mama’s boy” with a passionate/evocative manner of displaying his emotions (partly due to said trauma) and a penchant of sticking his foot in his mouth and jumping the gun. He’s a lover and a fighter. He’s a friend and a son and and husband and a father, and each of those things deeply. The tragedy of Anakin Skywalker is how all the beauty and potential and ways he touched the world around him and would touch it was consumed and destroyed by the worst parts of his life, by the fears and anger he (thought) he had no resources/frame of reference to assuage. His arrogance is thin veneer for his want to please, to be worth something, to be the one. Yet he resents the effort of portraying himself as such, (because why can’t he just be enough, be valued on his own?” and it fucks him over many times. Also, his relationship with Padme was the sweetest and healthiest thing he had in his entire life, (it can be argued his and Obi-Wan’s relationship was much more “toxic” than his and Padme’s) he and Padme both made their choice and chose each other, they were happy together and loved each other. Yes, it sounds cheesy and sappy, but it true, and I don’t understand why people don’t like/won’t admit it. Also, he was a fucking slave. That accounts for so much of him, and people seem to always forget that about him. The beginning years of his life were spent being owned by someone else, and all his life he was fighting to break free of that. Only for his twilight years to be spent being owned by someone else also.
He made the choices, but he was also truly thrown an extremely shit hand.

Disney : we love the prequel trilogy Obiwan, Anakin, and Ahsoka!
Me: umm you mean Obiwan, Anakin, Padme
Disney: lol what is a Padme ? Never heard of her
Or when they do acknowledge her she's mostly OOC and a Strong Female Character™.
Padme is a part of the prequel trio. The originals and even the sequels feature two force-sensitive members and one non-force-sensitive character. That's balance. It's boring to have three Jedi as a trio. Padme brings a different perspective and skillset to the group. Diplomacy was very useful in the age of the Republic. And Padme has been with them since the TPM so why sideline her?

Race-bent (or race-reappropriated) Anidala.
Been wanting to return to Star Wars and explore its non-Western influences. Is anyone interested in comics that feature Samurai Anakin, Hindu Goddess Padme, and Buddhist, Taoist, and Hindu views on the Force?

Why do you not like Ahsoka?? I mean she’s more interesting than Padme, and Padme never gets referenced in the original trilogy, there’s a reason the final fight in rotj is between Vader and Luke with the emperor in the background and not Padme talking to Vader about how she loves him and all of that, plus Ahsoka is just badass and likeable, Padmes only cool in tcw imo, outside of that she’s kinda boring imo, no better than a character like Rey or Snoke imo, she also has baffling dialogue
Why do you not like Ahsoka?
Must we all conform and like her?
I mean she’s more interesting than Padme,
Subjective.
and Padme never gets referenced in the original trilogy,
Well, Ahsoka doesn't even exist in the movies until Filoni created her in 2008 and casually inserted her into Star Wars.
there’s a reason the final fight in rotj is between Vader and Luke with the emperor in the background and not Padme talking to Vader about how she loves him and all of that,
Because the emperor is alive and she isn't...? And she isn't force-sensitive to appear as a ghost. She may just be Vader's ghost and anything she says to him will be said only to him. We are following Luke's story. We as the audience don't know Vader would be redeemed and specifically what is going on inside his head. Again, even in ROTJ novelization before Padme even appeared Vader thinks of his wife and that she was very dear to him. Where was Ahsoka again in any of this?
plus Ahsoka is just badass and likeable,
And boring on her own because her story is mostly reliant on Anakin. What is she except Anakin's padawan? We don't see anything else of her except being a Jedi. Padme isn't just a politician. She served in public service as a kid, got elected as a Queen, had things happening to her, had a love life (with Anakin), has her own values and beliefs that weren't taught to her, and has plans and hopes for things outside her work. Ahsoka is a Jedi and can fight with a big plot armor. Totally makes her more likable.
Padmes only cool in tcw imo, outside of that she’s kinda boring imo,
See, that just means you prefer to see her as a Senator and you see Ahsoka as a Jedi. That's going for character stereotypes, rather than the characters themselves. TCW Padme is horrible, unlikable and completely different from her actual character. Filoni had to butcher her to make his pet more likable in comparison and casually insert her into the prequel trio because we all like our own things. He is so "attached" that he can't even kill her. Well GL created the others and let Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan die as they were supposed to so the story could be meaningful.
For all of her badassery, it was Luke's (and Padme's) love that redeemed Vader and saved the galaxy. Ahsoka like obi-wan and Yoda failed to turn him back and just went into hiding from him lol. Doesn't seem very brave to me. And when there are two Jedi who failed what was the point of her again? She was pointless as far as the Skywalkers were concerned. I wouldn't mind if she had her own story independent of the skywalkers but Anakin being 20 and assigned an even younger padawan makes no sense. Obi-Wan was older than ROTS Anakin when he trained him. No wonder Ahsoka likes to strut around like she's Anakin junior. It's stupid, unoriginal, and annoying. We didn't need a kid for SW to be relatable.
no better than a character like Rey or Snoke imo,
Rey is the Mary Sue of the sequels and Snoke is a background villain. Yes, totally equivalent to the mother of Luke and Leia who inherited a lot of her qualities that helped them become the heroes they were, a Queen and senator from her planet, the main character in the first movie and a part of the actual prequel trio. Padme was always going to be part of star wars. There's old concepts before she was even named and she was present in a completely different, older version of Star War. There was no padawan kid named Ahsoka Tano and she certainly didn't change anything in the Skywalker Saga aside from adding pointless filler.
she also has baffling dialogue
Maybe you don't understand her character well and TCW's dialogue is easier for you?

Anidala is trash and Ahsoka should of been in PT movies instead. Padme is boring as shit and Ahsoka should of been love of Anakin life and mother of Luke and Leia. Y'all are delusional 😂
Us Anidala shippers to An*soka shippers:
*we
Sorry nonnie that Anakin didn’t get with your underaged fav because you found the canonical love of his life boring. Guess George Lucas should have taken note of that. As for the delusional part, I think most of the fandom is squicky about your very questionable OTP. Last time I checked Anakin felt nothing romantically towards her and it would be very creepy if you bought the found family trope in TCW and ship them. Why isn’t your ship canon? Why would the creators or anyone in their right mind feel his teen student is a good love interest for him? Ahsoka is a creator’s pet with plot armor. Sooo interesting right? Like you already know she’s gonna survive everything unscathed cuz Filoni loves her. And she always does the right thing and has all the perfect traits Filoni blessed her with. And before that she was just downright annoying and bratty. Sorry Anakin didn’t find her anything in her to be romantically interested either. Without Padme’s good qualities, Luke wouldn’t be Luke and Leia wouldn’t be Leia. And their personalities would be different. The twins are combination of Anakin and Padme not your fav😊 And don’t even start with the age gap. Anakin is almost 10 in TPM and Padme is 14 (no romantic interaction), the same age as your fav. Anakin in AOTC is 20 and she is 24. Still legal. He is 20/21 at the start of TCW and your fav is 14. She left the order and while he was sad, he wasn’t dying about it. Padme and his mother were the most important people in his life. She may have been close to him once but if she had been in the temple and if Padme’s life was at stake he would have killed her (as she was originally supposed to die). You know what should have happened? For Vader to kill her but Filoni was too attached to his OC and they needed her to promote new stuff lol. Oops. Cry me a river. Sorry your gross creepy ship didn’t sail and Anakin didn’t like her enough. Please consider getting a life instead of sending these.
There’s a ✨message✨ for you in these posts: 1 2 3
Try checking these out sometime.

When will they understand?
Fuck whatever the boomer OT fans are on about. They don't get Anakin / Vader, actually (highkey!!! Their views don't align with G.L.' so that's the end of that conversation). Anakin / Vader is a pathetic figure. He's dangerous because he's so sad and pathetic. He's not "badass", he's just bad.
And you know what... the prequel fans get it.
Prequel fans WANT the tears. We want melodrama. We want to see Vader mope and weep over Padmé. Over his failure to save her. We want the doomed possessiveness and emotional derangement. Fact is, we need it.
That's how you get the emotional weight behind his violence to begin with.
Greenlight the Vader series and pls allow us to watch Hayden Christensen cry over Padmé. I'm campaigning so fucking hard for this.
