some epic and greek myth fans need to be studied because i can’t comprehend how some of you violently hate and condemn a character like calypso whilst posting about characters like hades saying he’s an ‘uwu introvert soft boi who loves his wife’, as if persephone isn’t his niece which he kidnapped, a fact some of you find all sorts of ways to excuse, including villainising demeter and painting her as an overbearing mother as if that changes the fact it was an abduction. y’know, kinda how calypso kept odysseus prisoner?

and if we’re speaking specifically about epic, i don’t see the same amount of energy towards circe either who attempted to coerce odysseus into sex to save his men, just because she didn’t succeed in the musical doesn’t erase the fact she attempted this, and did succeed in the odyssey.

i love greek mythology and this musical, i think enjoying these stories and characters comes with accepting they are vastly flawed and often awful individuals, and taking things with a grain of salt due to the time period these stories were told in. but some people aren’t capable of that, and some people just like to pretend their favourite characters aren’t as bad as the characters they don’t like.

i’m not saying stop disliking calypso and condemning her actions, i think she’s just as bad as the rest, i’m saying i’m bewildered by this cherry picking of which characters are allowed to be rewritten to be more sympathetic and excused and which aren’t. like, seriously what is the mentality here? “abduction and sa is only ignorable if it’s a character i like that’s doing it?” would love to know tf the mental gymnastics are about

* also side note, there is no indication epic!calypso assaulted odysseus and one flirty line isn’t the damning evidence you think it is, jorge has not been afraid to be very upfront when a character has done such thing or intends to (see thunder bringer, legendary and hold them down - it’s all very obvious.)

endless reasons to love dean winchester

He’s not afraid to speak his mind–no matter who you are. 

Dean never hesitates to call people out on their bullshit. Not even Chuck gets a pass. God has been part of Dean’s story from the jump–his disillusionment in a being he isn’t always sure exists. And when Dean finally gets confirmation that God does exist, when he actually meets Chuck, he tells him exactly how he feels. He doesn’t sugar-coat it, and I love that about him.
