There's a new Cameo from Samba here that you should definitely check out, but since Tumblr won't let me embed the video, here's a transcript. (Emphasis mine.)
So remember we’re crew for life, regardless what happens, and, honk honk, we’re gonna be okay. You, me, the rest of the cast and crew, nothing can take away what we experienced and created and shared over these past years and these past two seasons.
Now I know everyone on Twitter is clowning, and hoping for season 3, and I love the clowning, to be honest with you. Let’s clown forever, because of course, I dream of a third season, because I want Jenkins to be able to finish telling the story and everyone wants, of course, the wedding between Ed and Stede, and everyone wants to know what fuckery do they do to get away from being hanged, because in real life they were “hanged,” right? And of course, they want to experience what the rest of the crew is up to now that Captain Frenchie is in charge of the ship.
So I mean I hope we get to finish telling the story one day, I really do.
But in the meantime, I love watching everyone clown. And I know some people are like “it’s over, just give up already.” But no! Let’s clown forever if we have to. Because that keeps the fandom alive. That keeps us alive. And we’ve made so much beautiful history together over the past years with the show and with you guys as our fans, that I don’t want that to ever go away.
So remember, we’re crew for life, regardless of what happens, and, honk honk, we’re gonna be okay.

I’m rereading a fanfic I’m working on, fixing typos and reminding myself where I was in the writing. Somehow the grammar check options in Word have gotten reset or turned on because I normally have most of them turned off.
So I got a message “In formal writing, write the words in contractions out.”
Sir, this is a porn fic featuring skeletons. I don’t think my readers will be concerned with contractions unless I somehow make it mpreg.

Honestly I'm always struck by just how much the lighthouse fuckery and everything about it tells us about Ed, it's such efficient and clever writing!
He's absolutely fucking brilliant, a real genius - Ed is able to count down to the fog's appearance with a margin of error of seconds, and has obviously been keeping count of the date in his head. He's also very obviously a very intuitive and clever sailor and is excellent at playing with multiple moving parts to organize a solution
Despite being so fucking smart, Ed actually gives up VERY easily. He's used to success coming the first time, perfectly, every time, and when his one brilliant plan doesn't work, he's shocked and gives up immediately.
Ed cares SO MUCH about the people depending on him. Like the first thing he says after he realizes is to tell everyone he's sorry. The weight of being a captain and having everyone trusting him for a solution is really getting to him
The striking thing about his plan is that his mistake was small but crucial, and it would've been easily corrected if he'd been open about it from the start. But he was looking forward to the big reveal! He likes the illusion of mystery and infallibility! (and, honestly, can't blame him for not telling anyone - when he tries to talk to Izzy about the clouds early on, Izzy fails to get that it's important and just starts nagging at him.)
When he's pressuring Stede to show him what being Blackbeard is like, he's being a bit harsh (I get the sense it's a very cathartic moment for him, to have just one person experience what it's like to be him for even a few minutes), but, crucially, he's doing that under the impression that there is no real danger because he thinks he's already solved it. When he realizes they're actually in trouble, Ed immediately takes full responsibility and does not expect anyone to help him come up with a plan - he's so used to handling things entirely on his own
It's just so good. I love it.

Thinking about Zheng gossiping with both Stede and Ed at different times. All of them growing as people between these interactions.
First, Zheng and Auntie hear all about his "serial killer boyfriend" who Stede gushes about in a completely different light: he's a good man. A little later, Zheng talks one-on-one with Stede about bad boys on posters.
Tumblr media
Then in the finale, Ed and Zheng connect while talking about the fight on the beach. There's no longer a dissonance between the "bad boy on the wanted poster" and Stede's "he's actually a nice guy."
Zheng gets to see both sides, the badass killing the colonizers and the man who hypes up his boyfriend by touch and calling him babe.
Tumblr media
As talked about many times, Zheng and Ed are parallel characters on the same journey. And one of those ways is: they both fall for the "soft boy" who betrays/leave them. But as soon as they come back, they can't stay mad at them, and can't hide their love.
All three of their journeys have been recognizing and embracing all parts of themselves, and I think it's no coincidence that it is Zheng who sees Ed (a character like her) get to be both hard and soft. (I wish we could have seen Zheng's further journey down this path in the next season.)

Y’know, we haven’t had much from Taika by way of interviews or how he approaches Ed, but I can’t imagine this season was an easy job for him. He has to move through as much intense emotion as Rhys does, and deal with some very dark and complicated stuff for his character, often without another person onscreen to support him.
I hope he also knows what a fantastic job he did. No one else could have played Ed.

Can we remark that Ed and Stede made up their own AU meet-cute scenario in which they are a hapless bar and grill (with a gift shop out the back) owner who encounters a customer who is very into the gift shop?
