Hey, worldbuilding idea concerning "what if magic, but it's a science": the more you learn about magic, the more obvious it is that we actually know fuck-all about it. Like a layman will say "ghostly forces are more sensitive to the haunting ghost's relatives due to the bond of bloodlines" with the same obvious confidence as "a rock falls to the ground because it's heavy", while students of the magical arts are baffled by these forces, along the lines of "fucking magnets, how do they work." Nobody knows how any of this actually works.

An ancient mage who is famed to be the most wise of all the ways of magic will sigh at another confusing dead end, admitting something like "in all levels except physical, the fae do not exist", and someone with only happenstance experience with the supernatural goes "what are you talking about, of course they exist, I've seen them", and the mage, exasperated, agrees. Yes, of course they do exist. But they shouldn't. And we don't know how that works.

Full-body kitbashing!

So recently I found a mini where someone had kitbashed helmet and armor pieces together to make a pile of dead knights for their character to lounge atop of, when I realized, hey! As long as we don't need to see the character's head, we can kitbash anyone! I've been working on my driders again recently, so at least a couple of them are getting foes to slay.

I started with a simple goblin cultist, even giving him visible ears to make it more convincing.

Secondly, we have some meddling wizard who fucked around and found out when dealing with a drider cleric. Had to get a little creative with the head, giving him a nose and fleshy head visible.

Drider Minis! New, improved, and expanded!

So I’ve revised my drider mini designs a few times since the original thread, including pitting several of them against random adventurers. But I realized as well that I was basically halfway to having versions of the twelve core D&D classes already designed. I was a little unsure whether I wanted to, since adjusting their legs is kind of time-consuming. But after more practice, I think I’m getting better and quicker at it.
