Kyoka Jiro x Kaminari Denki Part Three
Tumblr media
Word count (pt.3): 2037
Warnings: None, just fluff.
                                              ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■
“I lost?!” Denki’s voice caught the attention of many, fists slamming down the panel of the arcade machine while Jiro nonchalantly stared elsewhere, failing to hide the smirk that tugged at the corner of her lips. “Got your butt kicked, huh?! Seems like you’re losing your touch, buddy.” Sero slung an arm over Denki, looking over his shoulder to see a black screen with ‘Player two wins!’ displayed in blue, Jiro being player two, of course. The screen lit their faces in different colors, despite Kaminari losing and having to treat the female, he didn’t seem to mind one bit, seeing her act like herself is what made him recover from his loss, with her eyes lighting up and sparkling he felt his heart fuzz in his chest, what was he? A kindergarten student?
Their day went by in a flash and still, they had the energy to go on with their activities, the karaoke was the highlight of their day, everyone having the chance to hear each other sing, whether they were good or bad, it was enjoyable. Koda being shy and only murmuring the lyrics while Sato seemed to be the loudest amongst everyone with his gruff voice, the singing got him going. It took a lot of convincing to get Jiro to sing and she was finally there, a mic between her fingertips as she fidgeted and parted her lips to utter the tunes, instantly entrancing her classmates once again with her melodious singing, moments like these her confidence would radiate and act as a spell, charming the audience, moments like these Denki would feel his chest swell and he hoped no one else but he felt that way towards the angsty teenager- he wanted this to be special but wouldn’t admit that himself- perhaps this whole time he was in denial, or he was just braindead to not notice all the feelings folding over each other with every passing day. Guess the nickname Jiro thought of was perfect at this very moment: Jamming Way for being the idiot he was to not notice and think everything was alright.
“We would all make such good singers!” Uraraka spoke profoundly, hands holding her backpack in place as she remained in close vicinity with Midoriya and Tenya; exiting the karaoke, her voice was hoarse but everyone could relate, singing and laughing was bound to give them a sore throat but it was an enjoyable experience especially for Momo who spent a long while gushing over every little thing before regaining her composure and arranging the transportation to the beach, and soon they were at their final destination; Momo’s Private Beach, the beach had everyone at awe with it being spacious enough and everything was provided, however…
Whatever Mineta and Denki were expecting turned out to be the complete opposite, once again disappointed- the females were too tired for a swim and wore beach dresses, enjoying the shallow water instead. “The s-sw-swimsuits? Why aren’t you wearing them?!” Mineta was being delirious, taking the females by surprise as Sero held the short male back.
“Huh? We’re a little too tired from today’s activities, so we decided we would take it easy, right girls?” Were Momo’s simple explanation and the rest agreed but the purple-haired individual was not having it before any drastic steps were taken, Tenya had Mineta carted elsewhere… never to be seen for the rest of the day, something Denki was mildly concerned about but the blond was lucky to not be in Mineta’s place; grateful for watching things play out from the back not to mention his attention would fall onto Jiro -who was occupied with the rest of the females- finding himself distracted every time his friends brought him back to reality by nudging him. “You okay there, bro?” Kirishima questioned; expressing worry. “Yeah, yeah! Totally dude. A little tired.” Denki sheepishly laughed it off- easily fooling the red-haired individual while Bakugou remained silent; unlike his /oblivious/ friend the explosive male wasn’t ignorant to his surroundings, one could say he was even revolted but he’d play his part and excuse himself from this romantic atmosphere. “I’m gonna go beat up stupid Deku, you comin’ shitty hair? Soy Sauce Face?” Bakugou called out; already walking ahead, leaving the group behind. “For the last time, It’s Kirishima!” And with that the two stood up following Bakugou with Denki awkwardly sitting alone; maybe he’d take the chance and approach her or he’d sit this one out and accept how awkward he was being, it felt ‘uncool’ being like that- unable to speak up or as Jiro would put it ‘wouldn’t be rockin.’
Denki didn’t notice how dark it had gotten as he mainly spent it lost in his thoughts, the sky shifting from a pinkish purple to a dark shade of blue dotted with stars, the tides picked up and the rest of class 3-A moved away from the crashing waves, some gathering to make a little campfire and huddled up close as they continued to chatter, while Denki remained as he was, eyes closed as he filled his lungs with the beach air, it helped calm his overheated head, this was worse than any math equation and if he kept all these feelings to himself; he’d end up living up to his ‘jamming-yay’ reputation, or worst case scenario he’d die from heartburn, not literally but with his head burning up and chest-thumping rapidly, he couldn’t sit still and his face distorted with disturbance.
“Kaminari?” Denki’s eyes jolted open, yellow eyes looking up at dark purple hues. “J-Jiro?!”  She was looming over the male with a soda in her hand, Denki immediately sitting straight up; only inches away from slamming his forehead against hers, realizing their proximity her face flushed slightly and she stepped back with a huff, thrusting the soda can towards him, a finger playing with a strand of hair. “H-Here. Didn’t think me beating your butt would make you so scared of me.” She wheezed with obvious mockery waiting for him to take the carbonated drink from her, mumbling thanks he gratefully accepted the soda. “That’s not the case at all, today was fun.” He laughed out, a smile tugging at his lips and she returned the gesture however cheeks still red and her smile wavered from how her cheeks burned. “C-Cool, I guess.” She patted her summer dress, adjusting it before taking a seat next to Kaminari; him sipping on the soda and her fidgeting with her fingers.
There was silence, and the crashing waves and whistling wind filled that stillness,
Jiro found herself opening her mouth every few seconds before shutting it, unable to let out the words- both had a lot on their minds and their thoughts spoke louder than words-.
“Ka…” She uttered, fists clenching her white summer dress, feet digging into the sand as they rubbed against each other, teeth-gritting when she forced herself into silence.
“Ka…?” Denki’s ears perked up in expectation, head tilting towards the awkward teenager who continued to fidget with her fingers, lips puckered into a pout before sighing and giving in. “Today was fun, I didn’t expect it to be that fun.” Her fingers decided to occupy themselves with a stray stick, using it to make random shapes into the sand. “The arcade especially, the unexpected phone call too… You even treated me out for ice-cream, it was nice…” By now she was red from head to toe, stuttering out words and fidgeting further as Denki listened to her, his situation was no different but he remained more composed however he didn’t really understand where this was all coming from.
“Don’t tell me Jiro, do you like me? Heh? Is that it? It’s okay to confess~” Denki had mainly meant it as a joke, a way to cover up his feelings as he faked pride and even swiped his hair back but when he failed to hear anything in return he stiffened. “F-For real…? J-Ji-.” Before he could continue blabbing, a stick was pointed at him in a threatening manner, taking him by surprise as he flinched yet, she couldn’t say or do anything; flustered and retracted the stick. “It’s nothing, forget I said anything.” It was her cue to leave and maybe dig herself six feet underground. “W-Wait! Me too! Me too!” Denki slipped out, reaching to hold her wrist. “You too?” Jiro paused, red face turning to look at a flustered Denki, he nodded and gathered the courage to speak. “Yeah, I like you too.” He finally confessed, letting go of her wrist after a while only to sheepishly rub his neck and shift his gaze elsewhere. Well, there was no point stepping back, the cat was out of the bag.
“Like me as a friend…?” She questioned, and Denki shook his head profusely. “You know what I mean, Jiro!”
“…Oh.” “Is that your only answer?!” From that flustered girl was now a blank looking girl, brain unable to process his words. Once again, the silence returned and Jiro looked at her feet. “So, all this time I was being… stupid for nothing…?” Ever since she discovered her feelings for the goof, she was all over the place and couldn’t even be herself around him.
Wow, so uncool of me…
“Stupid for nothing?” Denki repeated before realization dawned upon him. “You were being passive-aggressive because of me?! I was the reason behind that change?! You could have just told me, y’know?” He pointed at himself, confusion mixed with joy, he didn’t even know how to express it as his mouth was a half-grin half gasp only to earn a glare from Jiro causing him to instantly hush up. “Shut it Kaminari! I thought your brain wouldn’t comprehend such feelings, you dunce!”
“I’m fully capable of it! That’s why I’m telling you I like you, Jiro!” He defended himself; irritation evident, she always messed with him like this and it was time he proved her wrong. It took her by surprise when he bluntly displayed his affectionate feelings to her and she covered her ears, this wasn’t what she had expected at all, she didn’t even consider this a possibility whatsoever, all she thought about was this being unrequited and her graduating without ever getting the chance to reveal her feelings. “…I… Me…Er…” Her throat felt constricted, but Denki was content with that alone; she didn’t need to verbally express it anymore everything made sense now.
“I know.”  Taking the chance to place a hand over her head, Denki’s expressions softened as he hid her face into his chest, she didn’t fight back and leaned against him. “This is so lame…” She mumbled and Denki chuckled at that. “Yet here we are.” He cooed. Feelings were always weird it brought out the strangest part of a human, affectionate desires people normally would recoil at becomes normal when they find themselves charmed and smitten.
“So…” Jiro trailed off, waiting for Denki to urge her on to continue but when she looked up, his face was looped… He was stupefied. “A-Are you alright, Kaminari?!” Jiro’s flushed face turned to astonishment and then to a sputtering mess. “Uweh…” Guess his brain fried over this and Jiro held her stomach from how hard she was laughing, his thumbs thrusting into the air assuring whoever was on sight that he was okay. “You’re hopeless, Kaminari…” Jiro shook her head, looking at her surroundings before leaning in on her tippytoes to leave a quick peck on his cheek.
And that’s how the two students of Yuuei became a couple.
                                                        ■□■
“Man. it reeks of shit here,” Bakugou growled, swatting his hand in the air to express annoyance. “Looks like our little Bakugou can’t handle a bit of lovin’, am I right or am I right?” Kirishima grinned, shark teeth exposed as he leaned an elbow on the blonde’s shoulder. “Shut up, Kirishima! You were too slow to understand what was going on.”
“So, wait. If Bakugou hadn’t left with you two, they would have missed their chance? Way to go Boom Boom Man!” Mina cheered with a jump, celebrating with the rest of the group. “Quit it, raccoon eyes!”
“Bakugou, the cupid of class 3-A.”
“You guys wanna die?!”

Kyoka Jiro x Kaminari Denki Part Two
Tumblr media
Word count (pt.2): 1716
Warnings: None, just fluff.
Part three
                                            ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■
Kaminari Denki woke up that morning groggily, throwing off the blanket to the side, a hand reaching down to scratch his exposed stomach before sitting up with the loudest yawn- running his fingers through his yellow locks- before drooping his shoulders, head-turning to the digital alarm clock.
Eight-Thirty AM.
Today was the day. The highlight of his high-school life about to begin the moment he steps out of the building; he couldn’t wait to meet up with the rest of his buddies and classmates. The arcade, karaoke, and beach called out to him and he quickly jumped out of bed. “Come on buddy, new day, great day!”  Grabbing his mobile- he scrolled through the group chat of class 3-A, the class president is the first to be up and greeting everyone a good morning, affirming whether they were all awake, he was already radiating authority and optimism this early in the morning.
As expected from the class president, the emergency exit guy.
Everyone seemed to be active in the group chat, expressing their excitement even Todoroki had gone about explaining what pair of swimming trunks to take. ‘The red one… Or the blue?’ with Bakugou replying with ‘Live up to your name you half n half bastard!’
It caused Denki to snort, skimming through the chat, giving replies of his own as he sauntered about the room, running his fingers through disheveled strands and picking whatever item needed for today- lazily prepping his duffle bag- until he noticed something off. Everyone on the group chat was online except for one particular person. Kyoka Jiro.
Now that Denki thought of it, she hadn’t been very excited for the trip, avoiding the topic as a whole, not to mention she in general just wasn’t herself. On edge is how he would word it. He wasn’t very book smart, but Denki was always quick to notice these things, being socially intelligent and all. Without hesitation he pressed the green call button, waiting for the call to get through as he pressed the device to his ear and plopped himself on his bed, back against the wall. The two weren’t best friends per se, but they were still close and understood each other on a different level, he respected and admired her.... maybe a little too much, but he wondered if she felt the same way.
“I doubt it…”
                                                           ■□■
Kyoka Jiro was in deep sleep when the buzzing of her phone woke her from her slumber, with squinted eyes she couldn’t believe the name displayed on her phone and perceived it as her in a dream, deciding to roll to her side comfortably, the blanket huddled up under her chin- not until the buzzing started to annoy her that she checked her phone with a frustrated sigh and realized it was indeed Kaminari Denki calling. She rubbed her eyes and pinched herself now fully aware that she was not dreaming. “Heck?”
But why would he be calling?
Deciding to stop overthinking, she sat up and answered her phone with a lazy hello, covering up her stutters with a yawn or an annoyed sigh, a hand reaching up to play with her dark strands. “Oh! Jiro! Morning~!” There was amusement laced in his voice, Jiro flinched, having just woken up, she didn’t need to hear Denki’s energetic voice so early…
Wait… What was today…?!
Drawing her curtains open, she was met with the piercing sunlight, cursing under her breath as she shielded her eyes momentarily, the room now bright enough for her to glance at the clock mounted to the wall. “Shit…”
She could hear laughter on the other side of the line, inciting a groan from her. “You totally forgot, didn’t you?” The female was tempted to snap, but bit her lip and instead smiled at his joyous hilarity, her chest swelling up as she pressed the device closer to her ear. “Yeah, yeah. It’s not funny, y’know?” She breathed out, fully awake and aware of her surroundings, she still had time to get ready and leave to meet up with the girls, they agreed to meet up at Tsuyu’s place which wasn’t too far. Stepping to her closet, she shuffled around to pick out her clothes with Denki still chortling in the background. “Can’t help it, it’s not like you to be late or forgetful.” He wasn’t wrong, with how anxious she was about today, she ended up sleeping quite late because of a certain person invading her thoughts, little did she know he would be the first she’d talk to, and it helped ease her mind; miraculously. Maybe because she didn’t have to /face/ him at this very moment.
“I guess. A-Anyway, thanks for calling… to uh wake me up…” She trailed off, cursing under her breath for her awkwardness, she could hear him exhale, picking up on every sound that was emitted by him, her cheeks red as she patiently waited for him to respond. “Uh… yeah! No probs. See you soon?” Denki had more to say, she waited for him to say more but time was passing by and she needed to get ready. “Yeah… Later.” After hanging up, Jiro stared at her mobile before leaning her head against a wall, the shirt she had picked out earlier; clenched between fingers, before realization dawned upon her, why didn’t she ask him when she had the chance?
Why did he call…? More like, why bother calling in the first place?
Knowing she wasn’t going to get her answers, Jiro continued with her day, following her morning routine, and was soon out hurrying towards Tsuyu’s place greeting the females and explaining her tardiness, excluding the part where Denki called her. She didn’t want to be teased, and Mina would definitely talk loudly about it.
“You’re here now, that’s what matters!” Hagakure exclaimed, patting the other’s back.
                                                           ■□■
The class finally gathered at their meeting point, the lot of them assembling like that caught a lot of attention so by default they split into groups, some deciding to go shopping instead of the arcade, some had other plans, they promised to meet up again with Tenya Iida throwing in instructions, hands moving in all sorts of ways. “I think we’ll all be fine, Iida…” Izuku Midoriya assured with a sheepish laugh, a hand behind his neck, causing the class president to relax and adjust his glasses. “You’re right, Izuku. Alright! You’re all dismissed!” Everyone mumbled their complaints, they weren’t on a class trip, they didn’t need any babying. “Hey, Hey! The arcade’s right there! Let’s go!” Mina was dragging Jiro towards the direction of the arcade, only to realize the rest of the females weren’t tagging along.
“I get terrible migraines with all the lights; I’ll sit this one out.” Momo explained, lightly rubbing her head with a sympathetic smile, even though it was her idea to go to the arcade and gain an experience of a lifetime, meanwhile Uraraka gestured towards Midoriya with fidgety hands, unable to look at anyone directly in the eye. “I- Maybe I should just check on Deku!” And ran off towards the direction of the freckled boy, Hagakure had disappeared in thin air (No pun intended) Mina explaining she saw her walk off with Ojiro earlier and nudged Jiro with a wink. “They’re cute together, right?” Jiro only laughed sheepishly. “Probably…” and Tsuyu? She simply idled with Tokoyami and Shouji, lounging with them silently, the arcade was not her sort of thing.
Jiro felt betrayed, she certainly didn’t want to spend time with the obnoxious group, knowing full well Denki was there, her stomach churned and she clutched it, despite their short call earlier, all the nerves in her body tensed, this is why she was avoiding this dreadful day, she was stuck with him and Mina did a good job keeping her around. “Oh, Jiro!” She was greeted by the yellow-haired individual, wincing and avoiding his gaze, she was sure he would bring up their previous interaction but surprisingly he didn’t even mention it, not even subtly. “Can we go already?!” Katsuki’s voice boomed, no one flinched at his brash behavior, even Jiro who blankly stared at him, the temperamental bully stormed off on his own while Kirishima ran behind his friend. “Wait up, man!”
“Then hurry the fuck up!” And everyone followed, increasing their pace to catch up to the ticking bomb of a man, at least someone was looking forward to the arcade. As they made their way inside, music and neon lights flooded their vision and hearing, the adrenaline rushing through them and Jiro grinned, the colors of the neon lights reflecting against her skin, the pink and orange and blues called out to her; for a second forgetting all her worries, as much as she liked instruments, the arcade was also her go-to place, she wasn’t a gamer so to say, but now and then she’d spend time playing video games. “Ready to kick some butt?!” Mina challenged the group, running in the direction of the counter to get started with all the games. They were all pumped up, Jiro only stared at them from a distance, a little too shy to open up, as she was lost in her thoughts; once again, a nudge to the shoulder brought her back, Denki purposefully bumped shoulders with Jiro, catching her attention and staring up at him, immediately freezing on the spot. “W-What do you want?” She questioned irritably. “Ready to get your butt kicked?” His confidence radiated as he grinned with his teeth exposed, Jiro responded by straightening her posture shoving her hands into her pockets. “Losers treat winners.”
With a little nudge to his shoulder, Jiro was instantly reminded of their previous interactions, interactions that didn’t involve her getting panicked or flustered around the ball of energy, when things were ‘normal,’ when her feelings were undiscovered and their bond was purely playful and ordinary. This one-sided unrequited love pinched at her chest causing frustration but, just for today… She would enjoy every moment and lock up the feelings that hindered her. These were memories being made for them to keep as they grow older and pursue adulthood and no way would she ruin today because of a one-sided emotion, it wasn’t like Kyoka Jiro at all.

Part Two
                                            ■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■
Graduation was just around the corner, everyone hyped and making plans, the classroom filled with chittering noises of students formed into separate groups making plans of what they should do just before graduation and making all sorts of memories.
However, the student on the 12th seat minded her own business, the surrounding tables empty as she stared at her blank note, a grey mechanical pencil twirling over her thumb and index, the other hand supporting her jaw over the desk, as she stared at the lined pages, mind far elsewhere.
Her consciousness was preoccupied with thoughts that weren’t like her, it was self-realization and she spent most of her time thinking rather than talking about it, making up fragmented thoughts to rid of the heaviness in her chest and to avoid a certain someone who was just as loud as the explosive temperamental class bully.
Images of him flashed in her head. Their simple interactions flashing to her mind too. His happy-go-lucky attitude brimming everywhere he went. He was the class clown, the dumbest person she’s ever encountered, especially when his mind would go putty after a simple math equation, she always enjoyed poking at him and reminding him how stupid he would get causing the male to fluster and snap at her. Her mind wandered elsewhere, if there was such a thing as a parallel dimension would their roles and relationship be any different? Or would it be the same? One thing she knew for sure, if they were people with superpowers, his would be something akin to shocking his brain and others to putty. She chuckled to herself, clearly picturing that strike of charged energy harming his poor brain and maybe killing a few brain cells in the process. Part of her wished in one dimension they would be together as a happy couple, displaying their undying -cringe-worthy- love publicly but here she was, the harsh reality of her not sincerely approaching the man she slowly and subconsciously fell for.
Denki Kaminari. His social circle included his best buddies; Eijiro Kirishima, Hanta Sero, Mina Ashido, and Katsuki Bakugo She didn’t know when it happened, maybe these feeling occurred to her at the end of the first year of high school, especially after her singing competition; he was the reason why she had signed up for it in the first place despite being hesitant and insecure.
‘You can do it! Make the class proud!’
‘A-Alright I get it! Get off my back now!’
It started as a small burning fire easy to extinguish with a bit of wind and she hoped that was the case but now it was their last year and the fire remained strong, she could hear it crackle and lick at her chest when she was in proximity with Kaminari causing her to act passive-aggressive towards him and remain stubborn, keeping her emotions all bottled up and daydreaming her feelings away, hoping it would satisfy the fire in her; it helped, somewhat.
She wanted to believe that, at least.
Kyoka Jiro; the victim to fall for the biggest dork stared at the group who were busy making plans; occupying the teacher’s desk with Denki seated on the table and Mineta excitedly explaining how a beach trip would be thrilling, easily catching Denki’s interest. “Beach trips. Cute girls. B-Bikinis! What more could you ask for?!” Mineta’s fiery passion was heard throughout the class, earning a few stares and glares, definitely a shout from the class president, Tenya Iida. Denki stepped in to cover Mineta’s mouth. “Shush you idiot! Don’t you have any pride?!” But the only given response was angry muffled noises. “He’s right, it’s not manly at all to just stare at girls at the beach. We need to prove that through a challenge, a challenge!” Kirishima was always pumped up for everything and Sero only piped in with a ‘yep!’
“Shut up Shitty hair! Manly my ass!”
Jiro shook her head; how did this happen again? Did her standards drop? Was she desperate? The whole group was full of dumbasses. She groaned and rubbed her forehead. “Perverts…”
“How about karaoke?!” Mina Ashido who completely ignored everyone else jumped in. “Whoever sings best, wins!” The scenario was all too familiar, especially to Jiro who only hid her face behind her notebook. “Huh? We all know Jiro sings best…” Sero butted in, rubbing the back of his head as Kirishima agreed. After all, she was the main star during the competition. Who knew Jiro had such an angelic voice despite her punk rock demeanor? “So, then we have Jiro join us! Right, Jiro?!” The groups’ attention diverted to Jiro when Denki called out to her, causing her to jump in her seat. “H-Huh?! Why would I do that? More like- Don’t just involve me in your plans so suddenly!” And there it was, her passive-aggressive attitude towards Denki which was returned in confusion, the redness that overtook her face was hard to mask. He wanted to speak up, help motivate her and assure she had no reason to feel insecure after all her blushing face wasn’t foreign to him but, he decided to hold back.
Something has been off about her and he couldn’t pinpoint what it was.
“Maybe the Arcade would be better?” Sero casually changed the subject, shrugging off Mina’s prior suggestion as she reacted by drooping her shoulders, nonetheless, she was down for whatever, it caught most of the group’s attention, even Bakugo who wasn’t paying attention now peeked in.
“Hold on.” A voice, this time the vice president’s; Momo Yaoyorozu stepped into the group’s plan. “The karaoke is a must; I suggest we do all three activities.” In reality, Momo just wanted to do what the commoners did, she’s never been to an ordinary karaoke before so perhaps she could go to one before graduating and missing the chance.
“My family owns a private beach; we can go there?” Now, who were they to refuse such a proposal?
“Who’s she to decide our plan?” Denki interjected with a whisper too afraid to directly confront the vice president, but for Mineta? It was perfect. “This is a good opportunity, don’t you see?!” Mineta’s lowly plans filled the other’s ears, causing him to approve with a satisfactory nod, whenever Denki and Mineta teamed up it never meant well, devious thoughts and plans went through their heads and the class would always witness them fail. Jiro just wanted to smack the two, her eye twitching as she glanced at Denki who seemed to have caught her stare across the room, him being intimidated by her vicious look and attempting to shut Mineta up while she glanced away with a roll of her eye.
‘Man, she’s vicious when it comes to her friends.’ Were Kaminari’s exact thoughts, but he didn’t particularly mind, maybe a part of him liked that about her, his lips formed into a lopsided smile, softening up to her expressions.
“So, it’s settled?” As they planned, somehow it became more of a class trip than just a group of seven, everyone was part of the plan, each pitching in with their ideas and different agendas, even Jiro who just wanted to mind her own business was involved because Momo was in, and she didn’t want any pervert to approach her best friend.
“It’s settled! What about you Jiro?” Uraraka questioned in excitement but Jiro only waved her hand dismissively, radiating nonchalance when really, she was burning up on the inside, anxiousness hitting her deep. “I guess it’ll be fun…”

Sweet, Sweet Freedom
Tumblr media
Art: Kadeart
↳ Hawks being affectionate towards Reader. Duh.
Pairing: Hawks x F!Reader (fluff)
Warnings: None.
Word count: 1282,
Your neck felt sore as you lolled your head to the side for a brief moment, hoping it would cease the ache building up in the joint of your neck and shoulder, the muscles tightening as you grimaced, fingers pressing into the tender thew bringing temporary relief, you crooned finding the perfect spot as you continued to knead your palm there, the tendons underneath your hand shifting, but this passing moment had to stop, you had a deadline to catch and every second mattered, ignoring the burning throb- now spreading down your spine, you turned back to the unfinished project before you, splayed in all its glory, beckoning for you to finish. A grunt escaped your throat, hunching over as you sat with your legs crossed, your hair in a messy bun, lips pressed together; forming a tight line with a digital pen tapping over your chin. You were tired and your eyes strained from the blaring light of your monitor, making it seem like you were scowling. It was late night, your eyes sunken, accentuating the dark circles under weary eyes, but you still carried on, too focused on your little task, unaware of the time passing by, barely taking a moment to relax, however you would keep shifting your head about, twisting and turning, grunting and groaning until the pain became intolerable and your body begged to rest.
“Ugh…”
Resting your pen on the surface of your desk, you stretched your arms over your head, mouth parting to drawl out a tenuous yawn, fingers knotting together as your elbows clicked into place, your back arching off the chair as you straightened your spine, allowing it all to just fall into place, but it was still unsatisfactory, your neck and shoulders throbbed and once again you found yourself wincing- clicking your tongue in annoyance. “Goddamn…” Maybe a hot bath was just what you needed, but…
Confliction played you dirty as you debated whether to take a break for a quick bath, or finish your work in one go and spoil yourself right after? But you knew yourself, a break for a bath wouldn’t just be that, you’d most likely prolong your break or ditch work and end up regretting it later, this dumb project needed to finish and you were close, so close to the end. So close to freedom.
Sweet, sweet freedom.
Your body jolted when you felt a pair of warm hands slide over the junction of your neck and shoulders, resting over your trapezius, a sound between a gasp and a yelp emitted from your throat, almost turning-
“Relax, chickadee.” He stressed out his little nickname for you, quick to pick on the anxious behaviour and fast pulse beneath his bare palms. Hearing the familiar voice, you immediately let out a sigh of relief, the thumping in your heart easing, his fingers soothed over your neck causing you to tremor and grunt “Well, if it isn’t Hawks…” You said dryly, clearly displeased by the scare, your palms rubbing over your face tiredly. “The one and only, little birdy.” He chuckled wholesomely; part of him was proud of the little accomplishment, the other part? Not so happy that you used his hero name. Tufts of his hair fell over his face as his stubbled chin rested atop your head, staring at the task on your desk with avian eyes. “And hey… Thought we agreed on Keigo, eh?” He playfully nudged you in his arms, it was your turn to shake your head and let out a chortle; flinching slightly when a throbbing pain occurred at the side of your neck- which didn’t go unnoticed by Hawks-.
“Right… Keigo.”
“That’s right, kid.” You felt him slowly but surely knead down your sore muscles with steady fingers, thumbs pressing up the base of your neck causing you to recoil your shoulders and bite your lip, expressing uneasiness as you attempted to shrink away from his warm touches, you weren’t the type to ask for a massage, rather you were least demanding when it came to any form of /physical contact/. Watching you squirm under his touch, the male paused momentarily, licking his lip before he spoke. “Just -,” He eased your shoulders, skimming down your biceps and pressing them reassuringly. “let me do it, little birdy…” He murmured against your hair, his words firm, continuing his little ministration- his concern over you getting the best of him; devoid of his usual humour and sarcasm. With a bit of hesitation you let your shoulders droop, letting the number two hero do his work of soothing up the tight knots, his earthy fingers skilled and practiced, touching the spots that made you melt most, immediately loosening and sighing in bliss, your breath hitching when he would touch around areas that sent a tingle down your spine, trying to stop the meek mumbles and noises. Hawks took note of all that, lucky enough to learn just how delicate and sensitive you were.
So, you did enjoy affectionate gestures…
It made Hawks’ chest swell in pride, seeing you relish in his reflexology, his lips drawing up into a lazy smirk, collecting loose strands of your hair and gently tucking them into your bun, shortly centralizing on your shoulders, you noticed how he didn’t have his gloves on, the ring around his right index finger radiating a cool touch against your warm skin. “How long have you been here?” You asked in a soft whisper, a throaty groan following right after, eyelids feeling too heavy to open.
“A while. Was plannin’ on mindin’ my own business and chill, but the noises were gettin’ hard to ignore, thought I needed to check what you were actually doing.” He emphasized with a playful grin, stopping momentarily to look at your expressions, you threw him a dirty look and a displeased grumble to which he chuckled at and softened up in return- almost missing the corner of your lip twitching up- “Relax, chickadee! I get your busy with all this… stuff, but letting loose is okay, thought you would have learned a thing or two from me, already.” With a satisfied hum, Keigo continued his services, well- he wasn’t wrong but, your deadline…
“Everyone just seems so tense lately, worried with hero work and living up to their reputation. I don’t want to see my baby bird be like that, no…” He whispered into your ear, drawing small circles on the nape of your neck with his thumb, you relaxed in his hold, finding yourself nestled up to the side of his face, nose lightly rubbing against his jaw as his lips formed into a genuine smile, giving your shoulder a tender squeeze, red wings fluttering from the affection you demonstrated, pressing the sweetest kiss to your forehead with a tight hug to your body. It was a relaxing moment, with the number two hero; Hawks, behind you taking all your worries and stress away like it was a job of his, he always seemed to prioritize your needs; despite calling himself a selfish bastard. He’d tell you your needs were his needs, and that’s how he gets what he wants, he wanted nothing more than to hold you in his arms and spoil you, wrapping his large fiery wings around you protectively, being there in every moment…
At this point all your tight knots dissipated and you were left canoodling the red winged male with reciprocated affection. His lips pressing to the side of your face, osculating your features with his mouth. Maybe, just maybe you could afford a little break and spend it with Keigo.
He was your sweet, sweet freedom. Your little haven.
