SOF Chapter 1:Grumpy Beginnings
Authors Note:
Hope you enjoy the first chapter of Sea of Friends.  I used to do pretty embarrassing stories before but now I'm actually trying. I'm gonna try to get chapter two out as soon as I can.
Warning: Swearing
Masterpost
I started my morning fairly pissed off waking up 4 minutes before your alarm goes off is never a pleasant experience. I feel around to my left feeling for my pajama shorts, once I find the , obviously fake, silk shorts I pull them on and sit up. Getting off my bed my alarm goes off I quickly shut it down not wanting to wake my younger sister sleeping next door to my bedroom. My cat Pandora meows at me from the foot of my bed signaling that she wanted food "Can you just wait a minute." I muttered to myself. I picked up my glasses off my desk and open my bedroom door. Pandora shoots right past my legs into the hall and down the stairs. "Fuck it's cold" I hiss walking down the stairs grateful for the carpeted floor instead of cold tiles. I make my way to the kitchen to feed a very impatient Pandora. After feeding Pandora I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and look at the state of my face. Walking to the first-floor bathroom I look at my face, gross as usual but the hairs pretty standard. I remove my glasses and wash my face and brush my teeth. When I finish I do my eyebrows real quick. I make my way upstairs to my room and check my messages. I see some messages from my friends:
Mya O: Are we meeting at Ks for breakfast?
Jay🤔: When have we not lmao
~Ryo~: I'll be there
~Ryo~: I'll be a lil late tho
Mya O: Brianna you and Prox are coming together as usual right?
BriBri: Ya I am
I shut off my phone and head to my closet and grab a striped tank top, some shorts and a sweater. I throw those on and toss my sweater into my bag. I pull on some sneakers grab my phone and make my way out of the house. I had to go get Proxy from his place knowing him he was probably asleep. Prox lived about four houses away from me with his mom, Grace. Walking while scrolling through my phone I look up and make eye contact with some random dude glaring at me across the street from me. Now I'm not one to judge people as soon as I see them, but as a girl at the ripe age of 15 when you see a grown ass man mean mugging you, you'd get a little scared. If you asked me to describe this man I swear on my soul I couldn't, his face seemed to suddenly change small features very slowly but, one thing's for sure he didn't look happy. Feeling a bit uneasy I picked up my pace and knocked immediately on the door of the Berra house as soon as I got there. Grace opened the door and looked down at me "Good Morning Brianna, Prox is-is something wrong?" she questioned. I could only guess that I looked a bit scared. "Oh um, nothing wrong Ms.Berra just a bit tired is all." I change the subject,
"Is Prox up yet?"
"He just got up actually."
"I was just heading out to work so you kids have a good day."
With those words, she stepped out of the house and I stepped in. Prox's house was very similar in design to mine, the only difference was of course decoration. I walked up to the door adjacent to the kitchen and knocked. "Hey Prox are you ready yet everyone's waiting at K's?!" I shout. I hear a muffled shout from the other side of the door "Can you give me a second I'm trying to put on my pants!". I roll my eyes "Hurry up and put your dick in your jeans so we can get on with our day!". Seconds after I say that a grumpy Prox emerges from his room arms crossed, backpack slung over his shoulder. I've known Proxy since kindergarten and he's always been the weird emo kid. People sometimes found it funny that we're utter opposites and honestly every single one of them is right.
"Can we go now I'm hungryyy," I whined
"You behave like a child."
"I am, legally, a child!"
~Time skip to Kenya's Cafe~
Walking into the brightly colored cafe I spot my friends sitting at a booth in the corner of the cafe, like some sorta story protagonists. I run over to the booth and slide into the seat next to Mya "Hey guys sorry we took so long Prox took forever to get ready."
"Liar you took forever to get to my place!" Prox protested walking over to the table
"At least your not as late as Ryo" Mya sighed
"Give the guy a break he probably had to sneak out of somebody's house after an eventful night or sumthin." Jay yawned
A second later the cafe door jingles signaling somebody coming in. I look to the door and see a familiar tall blondish pink haired boy, Ryo.
"Speak of the devil." I chuckled
"Aww were you guys were talking about me." he coos
"Where were you, Mr. AlwaysLate?" I quizzed
"Same place as always babe."
"I will hurt you."
Any potential argument was quickly shut down by Mya's mom, Kenya, bringing us some breakfast sandwiches.Setting down the sandwiches she scolded us,"Settle down and eat, you two are disturbing customers!". Ryo and I apologize then the group makes small talk while eating our breakfast. After some time I see Mya check her phone then furrow her eyebrows "We should get going now if we don't wanna be late." she warned
"Who cares if we're late," Prox says
"I do it's the first day of the year!" Mya exclaims
We all groan knowing she had a point. We pull ourselves up from our booth and walk to the front door being sure to thank Mrs.Owens on the way out. The school was across the street so we had to wait to cross. Looking across the way I make eye contact with the same guy I saw earlier this morning. I couldn't tell from his looks but the expression on his face was unmistakably him. I pull on Proxes white sleeve and say with fear probably prevalent in my voice "Hey do you see that guy?"
"What guy?" Prox asks looking up from his phone
"That on- hold up" When I looked back he was gone
"I know your visions shit but damn, you're hallucinating now?"
I don't know what happened but I swear he was there. Then again maybe he wasn't? Crossing the street I had a horrible feeling that this school year wasn't going to be as normal as I had hoped it would be.
