What is the definition of a plant-based diet?
Eating a plant-based diet simply means eating more plants. No matter where you are or what you are eating now, you can eat more plants (anyone can). Of course, your goal should always be plant-based, and it is best to eat throughout the process, but you may enter the transition stage, first of all, eat such delicious food on earth and provide it naturally.
This does not mean that you have to label yourself and stick to this way of eating; these terms describe different ways of eating and can help you understand specific categories of food choices. Again, this classification can help you understand how a plant-based diet fits these prospects.

raw material: olive oil Shanghai Green mushroom garlic soy sauce salt
Wash the rapeseed, cut the mushrooms into small pieces, and slice the garlic
Pour the olive oil into the pan, stir fry the mushrooms, then stir fry the Shanghai greens and season with salt and soy sauce.

For this dish, it is not difficult to find the ingredients. Most supermarkets can find these two ingredients, but some places do not sell Shanghai greens. You can also use other green vegetables you like. For the soy sauce in the ingredients, You may need to go to some Asian supermarkets to find it. Nutrition Blog 1
In this blog, I will do a short self-introduction and talk about the topics that interest me in nutrition.
First of all, my name is TongTong Zhao, I am now a culinary management student, I came from China, This is the first blog that I write talk about nutrition.
The topic that I am interested in nutrition is the food guide for the people, that I can use my culinary skills to make dishes that match the food guide to get a healthy eating habit.
As I think in the future, nutrition will play a much more important role. Nowadays, with the development of society, more and more people have better living standards and they are looking for nutrition. Theory of Food 2 Blog 3
The dietary concepts that I choose for my past week was Atkins, because I want to lose weight, and I already keep dong it for half year, and I lose 10kg, but for that 10kg, just because I keep running for almost half years, and this time I won't try something new, that can help me losing weight faster, so I heard the Atkins was very popular weight losing dietary concepts in North America, so I want to find it out is that work well on me. By the way, the allergen the I pretend to have is peanuts.
The menu that I made for myself is:
Morning: 2-3 hard-boiled eggs and 500ml-600ml 2% milk
Lunch: Salad around 20oz
Dinner: low sugar fruits like Banana, dragon fruit.
Recipe:
Mix green 100g
Spinach 1009
Kale 70g
Roasted Chicken 100g
Ham 50g
Salami 30g
Cucumber 50g
Caned corns 30g
Roasted bacon 20g
Raw onion 20g
Mix color pepper 20g
Avocado 10g
Preparations:
Just mix them together with ranch dressing and honey, Dijon mustard sauce
Experience:
I prepared three days ingredients for my Salad and I finish it, but to be honest, I feel not very enjoy to have this kind of meal, the Atkins diet is just force you do not have any carbohydrate and starch, but for my past 20 years I have starch and carbohydrate every day, because I followed the traditional Asian diet, and in my hometown my favorite dish for lunch is noodle . So this was a little bit challenge on me, I felt not very good to have Atkins diet, and keep the same recipe for 7 days, so I went out to try some salad restaurant such as basil box, salad king and Rollation, then I feel much better than having my own salad recipe. However, the Atkins diet was helpful in losing weight and keep your body clean, I lose around 1 kg throughout a whole week. For the Atkins diet, in the future, I will not continue with it, just because I cannot keep doing it every day, but maybe I could do it for several days a month to help me losing weight and then switch to my original diet habit and after several days switch back then. Because I think that it was hard for a normal human to force himself or herself to keep a kind of diet habit for a very long time, even they do not enjoy it. From my perspective, I think having food should be a happy thing when you are eating, you should enjoy the food that you are eating. For my future, I do not want to be an Atkins diet chef, that was so boring, I would like to play with the meat, the seafood, and the pasta, but I could give some advice to the people who want to have the Atkins diet, which keeps changing your recipe, and make some different sauces for your salad, and have more dairy products and fruits for snack, because you will get hungry very fast, once you finish your meal.
While for the peanut allergy, it does not influence me so much, I just use walnuts instead of peanuts, that will be fine for my whole day nuts intake.

The food that I choose to preserve is Blueberry. It's a fruit that is very hard to preserve in the fridge, and in different seasons, the blueberry that we get in the supermarket is not as sweet as normal. The way I choose to preserve blueberry is to mix it with sugar and some lemon juice and make it as a jam. It can keep the fresh blueberry taste in the jam and the lemon juice can make it save more time in the fridge and keep it with original flavor.
The ingredients that I need for the blueberry sauce is: Blueberry 200 G Sugar 25 G Lemon Juice 20 G The recipe to make the jam is : 1. Wash the blueberry and drain off the water. 2.Weigh out the sugar and lemon juice 3. Put blueberry in a small pot and mix it with low heat.

4. Add sugar in the blueberry and mix it well, press to break the blueberry.

5. When there have small bubbles that came from the blueberry and sugar mix, add lemon juice, then mix it.

6. Taste then finish the final season. Let it cool down to room temperature. 7. Put the jam in a clean bottle, and keep it in the fridge.
I had used this recipe to make the strawberry jam before, but I had to add lots of sugar at the final seasoning, it might because the strawberry that I got is too sour, but the blueberry jam that I make this time is perfect seasoning. The blueberry jam is a very good partner with toast and milk for breakfast. Actually, it's my normal breakfast during middle school. Every month my grandma will use the seasonal fruit to make some jam for me to let me take to school for my breakfast.

Today I want to talk about a famous Chinese hot pot restaurant, called Hai Di Lao. The reason they become famous because of the crazy service that they have.
The brand created by a people named Zhang Yong is the people who change the customer experience in the restaurant. He had open his first Hot pot restaurant with his family in his hometown Sichuan Where is a famous Province because of the hot pot. The first month of their business is not very well. He starts to think another way to attract customers to come to eat in their restaurant, he starts to use the service to get his customers. For example, if the customers come with kids, his restaurant has everything, kits set , kids bed and lots of kids toys, he will use lots of ways to take care of your kids and let their parents enjoy their food; or help the customers clean their shoes when they are waiting for their seat. These crazy services make his restaurant become popular and famous, at that time he want to his brand become famous in China, he opens his second restaurant in another Provence. It’s a hard beginning because nobody believes an idea from people who didn’t graduate from high school, but the truth is he become successful. Now he already has hundreds of restaurant around the world, every restaurant has a crazy service, that makes his brand is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
When you go to their restaurant, the first thing you can see is there are lots of people line up there, when the first Hai Di Lao open in my home town, I had wait for three hours at there for my lunch, but the time spend at there are not make you boring, if you just want to stay at there and wait they call your number, you can sit at the table outside and enjoy the snacks and juice they provide , the ladies can do nails at there , also there have shoe cleaning service for the customer who is waiting in line . Of cause, these are all free for the guest to wait there. If you don't seat at there and wait in line you can pick your number and walk around, almost all of their restaurant is opening in a large shopping mall, you can spend your time shopping at there, look around when your table almost ready they will call you to enjoy your meal.

When you finally can start eating, the services just beginning, when you put your phone on the table they will take a cover to protect your phone, when you are going their alone they will put a big plush toy and face to you, make you look not lonely. There have lots of interesting stories about their service, as I think the most interesting one is about the fruit , there have a guest want to take some pieces of watermelon back to home because it’s so sweet , but the server said that will not fresh when you eat it at home, but at the time they pay their bills, the server gets a whole watermelon for them to let them bring back to home, he said they will get the fresh watermelon when they want to eat at home .

This is a restaurant always want you to save money, you can get all the thing you want for half serve, that makes you don’t waste the food and you can order more kind of food when you eat with a small group of people; you can get half of the hotpot condiment for water , if you don't want lots of a different kind of hot pot condiment, you will save another half price with your hot pot condiment; if you are a student, at some special time, you can get 40% percent off for your whole table .

Their crazy service is not just in their restaurant, you also can get it for the home delivery, If you want to eat hot pot at home, don’t worry they also do the delivery, they are not just sending the food to your home then leave. They will send all the food that you order with a pot and an induction cooker, and they will come back to take it back on the second day.

As I think this brand change my idea of the service that I get in a restaurant, and in China, you don’t need to pay any tips to them. The services that they provide, lots of other brands try to copy the same model, but no one did it. For me, I think it makes me have another look for the hotpot, and they deliver for the hotpot makes me don’t worry if I have a party at home.
By the way, their Toronto location is in construction, I can't wait for their grand opening and go there to eat.

Theory of Food 1 Blog 3
Last month my friend had taken me to the place that he is work at there, it’s a new dessert bar, the name of the dessert bar is called “The dessert kitchen” it’s a new dessert bar near Spadina station. They are making Hong Kong Style Dessert, but they are not just making the traditional Hong Kong Style dessert, They also had to make some innovation for the traditional Manu. All the cakes and Ice Cream are making it by themselves.
The dessert that I had to try is called “Ice stream ramen” It has flavored ice at the bottom and have some mini rice ball mix in the ice ,then they put some mango top the ice and put some melon balls and some honeydew around the mongo, on the top of the mongo they put the “noodles ” at the top, and serve with homemade peach sauce .
The dessert has a nice plating, I am very interesting about the “noodles” on the top. I thought they just shape the jelly differently, but after I taste it, I change my mind. When I taste the noodle without the sauce, there already have some fruit flavor in the noodles, the fell in my mouse is completely different as regular jelly.
Then I put the peach sauce at the top and mix with the noodles, we get more flavor from that dish, the sauce gives the noodle sweeter and more fruity taste.
I had asked my friend how do they do this and what’s the ingredients for this kind of noodle, but he told me it’s a secret receipt, he can’t tell me.

From this tasting experience, I know there are lots of food are not just what you look like, there are lots of ways to make the food in real life.
If I will go to the dessert bar again I definitely will order it again, I will never forget the taster that they put in the dessert.
In the future, when I make my own food, I will try to think a different way to make the dish before I start work on it, and try to finger out the best way to cook the ingredient that I choose

The farmer’s market that I visited is St. Lawrence Farmers Market and the farmer that I choose is Uncle Jorge’s Farm, every Saturday morning they will go to St. Lawrence Market North to open their farmer’s market, Uncle George’s Sprouts has the largest selection of certified organic sprouts in Toronto, they have wheat grass, sunflower, pea, broccoli, mustard & cress, and etc. Sprouts are grown exclusively from seed certified “organic” by the Organic Crop Improvement Association. Uncle Georges growing operation is also inspected by the Toronto public health department and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The philosophy for their choosing to farm is they want to provide the good and health food and ingredients to people and then they will feel happy and it is also the way to promoting food safety, when they work for their high-quality food and saw the successful of them they will feel so glad of themselves, because they achieve their value of life. The environmental initiative that they support is to keep organic farming process and provide the good, fresh and safe food to people, keep the environmentally friendly farming for all the time, and protect the environment all the time, because we all know the resources of the Earth are running out, we could not take every thing that we want from the Earth like past, we have to do some thing and keep the sustainability cycle working and save some resources for our descendant, and also save the poor environment situation surround the world right now. And they also believe the food safety is a worldwide problem, they want the customers who have got the food from them to have an awareness about how the good and safety food taste and looks like.


For the price, they do not really placed a price tag for each, they just have a book, and you should ask the price for each of them, I purchased the blueberries and strawberries from them, and for the price I think it was reasonable, for strawberries each oz was $0.24, and for blueberries each oz was $0.82, and both of them no tax included, that price for organic product was much lower than Loblaws, and it was totally fresh. From my perspective, it worth the price, and it is the new trend for the food, so the organic food must be encouraged, it helps our environment turning well and keep the sustainability cycle work properly, and through the organic food, more and more people know what is the organic and what is the meaning of sustainability, so the organic food have the positive effect to our society, it should be developed.
During this experience I learnt everything that I did should pay all the passion into it, then I can have the energy to continue and finish it perfectly, and also the organic food needs to be popularized, the environment should be protected, the organic food is also the easiest way for the public to understand what is the organic and how it works well in our life, beside that the food safety is also a huge problem in our society, the organic food is the good way to avoid that.

Theory 1 Blog 2 Soup
The soup that I choose is Corn and spareribs soup . The reason for why I choose this soup , because it’s my favorite soup , also it's the first soup that I learn from my mom in my life. The recipe for the soup it’s preaty simple , the main ingredients are corn and spareribs if you like eat other vegetables like carrots or lotus , you also can put some in the soup . The first step that you make the soup is clean the pork ribs , cut them in small pieces , put it in cold water with some ginger and cooking wine ,bring it to boil , when the dirty stuff came out from the pork , clean it with hot water then put it back in another pot of ot water ,bring it to a boil then keep it simmer for 1 hour , After that just put the corn and the veges that you like , season with salt and white pepper , then just cook it until the veges become tender. After I finish cook it I thought the soup is sweet then normal and the sweet is not came from sugar , because I didn't put any sugar in the soup . After I try the corn , I know the reason . Inmy hometown the corns that I use for my soup is Fruit corn , it is much more sweet then the normal corn in my hometown , during the time I cook it , the sweetness came out fron the corn and get into the soup . After I let my roommates try the soup they have the same idea as I think , he had try put more salt in the soup , but it can't cover the flavors from the corn , and he make the soup become very salty . From this experience , I know the different place have different kind of local vegetables that they use , some if them are looks same , but the flavour are totally different .After this time , every time when I try to cook some of my hometown dishes , I will get to know the different between the vegetables that grow here and the veges that grow in my hometown and try to do some change to get the right flavors .

Ps: The white stuff that on the top of the soup is the fat came from the pork rib , after the soup become cold , it will easy to remove the fat from the soup and make the soup become clean .

The meat that I choose to get is chicken wings .
I had went to the market called T and T supermarket to get my ingredients I need to use today . It’s my famous market in Downtown , there have lots of stuff from my home town China , I can find my favourite snacks and drinks at there .
I get my chicken wings at there , The most important why I choose this part from chicken because this is my favourite part for chicken , I think it’s the most delicious part for chicken , and it have lots of ways to cook , my favourite is the ghost pepper chicken wings in Popeyes , it’s not very spicy for me , but I think it’s taste pretty good .
Chicken have a large number in the world , chicken can provide us meat and eggs , it can give us lots of protein . most part of chicken can eat , and each part have lots of ways to cook , the most popular cut is before you cook it use your knife make two slice on the chicken wings at each side , it will make the wings more easy to get the flavour in . In China already have hundreds kinds of chicken ,there are more different kinds of chicken in the world . The price for the chicken wings are not expensive , when I get a box with about 20 pc of chicken wings , it cost me about $10 .
The way I use to cook chicken wings are very easy and pretty fast.
The ingredients are :chicken wings , garlic , black pepper , cooking wine , egg , starch and Doritos .
First make two slice on each side of the chicken wings , Then use the cooking wine , chopped garlic , black pepper to souse the chicken wings for half an hour .
Crush the Doritos , and eggs .
After 30 min , put the chicken wing in the starch first , then egg,final cover with crushed Doritos .
Put it on a baking pan , with a little bit oil at the bottom .
Pre heat the oven to 355°F(180°C) Put the wings in the oven for about 20 min .
Tips : you can use any flavour of chips or Doritos you want to cover the chicken wings .

The first picture I took at Niagara Falls at 2017/10/24 , it’s also the first birthday that I have in Canada , So I hang out with my friends . But this is not my first time came to Niagara , Last time I came for the falls from USA side , it’s about 5 years ago .
Back to the picture , When I take this picture , it’s because the pigeon just stand on the top of the railing for a long time . The reason that I change something about this picture is I want the pigeon become the main point of this picture , so i cut the side with lots of hands and people , the second step that I did is change the colour and the contrast of this picture , that will make the sky become more beautiful and the pigeon will become more shining , also I blurring most part of this picture , I think it can make people easy to see the main point that I want to show from this picture .


The second picture I take it on the way we back to Toronto from Montreal , when I see the view , it just like we are not in the real world . For this photo , I think it don’t need lots of changes , I just cut off the useless part and make the colour more clear , that make this view is not from the real world.
I don't think the news media should use the photos I edited to publish the news. First of all, the news media pays attention to the timeliness. The photos I posted are already a long time ago. Then the news media pays attention to the authenticity, so the photos published by the news media should be Try to show the original look as much as possible. If you over-beautify, you will be misled by people who have seen the edited photos.
As I think there have lots of difference between art and press photography. The art photographer don’t have any rules for them they can take any photos that they think it is art , and different art photography have own ideas .
