Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, dies at 68. Absolutely tragic. Rest in peace Legend.

When the original Dragon Quest was originally released it nearly made a loss. This changed when Horii started writing features about it to be published in Weekly Shonen Jump - and *that* is when the original game became the smash hit we know it today.

But those features and that game in general would not have pulled in nearly as many people as it did if it wasn't for the artwork by Akira Toriyama.

RPGs - specifically JRPGs - were like a first love to me. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest taught me how stories can be told, they taught me about the worlds that can exist in video games as a medium.

Shit, I'm struggling with words here. But you know what I'm getting at, right? DQ is one of the most influential games ever made, and it wouldn't be afforded that same opportunity if not for the work Toriyama did. If it wasn't for the iconic Dragon Quest look, if it wasn't for its inherent association with Dragon Ball.

And now Toriyama's dead. I didn't grow up with Dragon Ball, but with DQ he still painted my childhood. And he's dead. And that hurts. It hurts like hell.

Here are a couple dark-ass photos of the Hori Dragon Quest Slime keyboard for Wii and PC. As you can see, it is very slimy.

The “F” keys all have detachable slimes and there’s a staircase on the “escape” key.

Yeah agreed completely. I'm still very excited and think it's gonna be great but stuff will definitely be lost BC of these unnecessary compromises

you know i've long wondered about psaro. we know rose is an elf and psaro has the pointy ears so it've always been like, is he also an elf? it's never said. and i'm pretty sure, at least at some point, the wiki said he was a demon? but was unsure about that.

now, they've been dropping character profiles for dqm3 on twitter and it says he's a "demihuman"
