For this project, you will need:
- Semi-gloss latex paint
- Faux paint technique glaze, in a coordinating color to the semi-gloss latex paint
- Stippler paintbrush (this looks somewhat like a horse grooming tool)
- Fitch edge paintbrush
- Roller brush and frame
- Lint-free rags
- Painter's tape or masking tape
Start by first masking off any trim or adjoining wall corners with painter's tape or masking tape. If you are doing more than one wall in this technique, it is important to paint the walls on separate days so this project may take a few weekends to complete.
Using the roller, apply the semi-gloss latex paint to the wall. Allow the wall to dry for four hours before applying the second coat. Allow the wall to dry for at least twenty-four hours before beginning the faux glaze and technique.

To begin the faux glaze technique, first, make sure the roller is completely saturated with paint. Starting in one corner of the room, apply a single strip of glaze to the wall. With the fitch edge tool, your partner should apply glaze to the corner area which the roller could not cover with a quick dotted motion.
Once the edge is complete, your partner should use the stippler paintbrush to the previously applied strip of glaze once again in a quick dotted motion, but with also turning his or her hand after every dot as though they were opening a doorknob (back and forth). To prevent clumping, the stippler paintbrush should be wiped off with a lint-free cloth after every dozen or so dot applications.
Apply a second strip of glaze to the wall. Have your partner repeat the process, but leave two inches of glaze closest to the unglazed area of wall for blending between strips. It is important that only one strip of glaze be applied while one partner is stippling the wall. Repeat this process until the entire wall has been stippled.
Fill in any bare areas or corners with the fitch edge tool. Remove all tape before the glaze dries, and allow the glaze to dry thoroughly before painting any adjoining walls.
