A MOMENT IN TIME: ???, 2024.

BATTLE BLONDE is the work-in-progress name of the shelved EP for BOTTLE BLONDE, fully produced and partially visualize by LOOPiN's O.z thought 2024, mostly as part of his personal campaign around entertainment companies to stablish himself in the market outside of New Wave Music's domain.

The project is now considered a urban legend, and the reasons why it was shelved were never fully explained; cold hearted rejection? Seo CEO's email tempering? We might never know. For now, the mock EP rests safely (and lovingly!) in a corner of Zhiming's computer hard-drive.

ONCE iN A LIFETiME: LOOPiN BOOK 01. (And other changes!)

With all the twists and turns 2024 put me through, I've had to come to a bunch of very annoying realizations last year - like the fact that I've been outlining a series of books for the last three years about a bunch of insane K-Pop Idols, and now I've finally know how it all ends, and now that I know how it all ends I won't be able to live with myself if I don't actually commit to writing them, and that if I made it to the New Year, which I did, which is crazy, I would commit and write them.

So what's going to chance, moving forward? For once, I'll no longer post writing directly on Tumblr. I'll mostly use this blog and any others for miscellaneous stuff, wich isn't much different from what I've been using it for now and love to do (call this an open WIP diary? Something very writeblr-ish? I've got time to figure it out...) You can find me on AO3 right here! I have the prologue and chapter 01 already down and I'll be posting OIALT starting from February!

I'm very excited to finally take this first step into sharing this story, begging to end, with you all! Happy 2025, everyone! I hope to meet you guys soon with a lengthy explanation of the worst New Year's Eve anyone has ever had. It sucks to be a loop dude, I'll tell you that.

It seems nothing good ever happens to K-Pop boy band LOOPiN; as if being perpetually stuck under the shadow of their sister group LOONA even at the peak of their popularity isn’t ego damaging enough, dealing with the amateur entertainment company New Wave Music – which may or may not be a front for CEO Seo Chanhyuk’s hidden-in-plain-sight, cross-continental money laundering scheme – keeps every single one of the ten members on their toes.

The undocumented training program that made half of them band together makes almost no legal sense, and as the years go by, the many ghosts ‘Boy Of The Week’ has left behind appear to haunt even the members who dodged it.

The New Year’s Eve of 2022 adds to their plate an almost fatal accident, a public scandal that just keeps getting worse, and the first unwrapping in a web of corporate secrets that might bring them to a premature end, if someone doesn’t do something quickly.

A MOMENT IN TIME: NOVEMBER 20TH, 2024.

'bye.n.bye.n', the first and only solo EP released by Xu Jiahang, at the time LOOPiN's J.J under RareRhythm Entertainment, came out as a surprise that proceed many: exclusively digital at first (but gaining a controversial limited edition printing in the later year), it was announced on the news 24 hours before hitting streaming platforms. The title, 'bye and bye and', was also read by many as 'buy in buy in'; an assumed tongue in cheek joke about the many, many accusations of being industry planted into K-Pop, which releasing an entire solo project only months into a new company from apparently nothing didn't help.

But most shocking of all, on the same day, J.J was confirmed to be on his way to debut as an actor in mainland China, taking a temporary break from activities with LOOPiN from January up until May 2025.

Promotions for the EP included one single 'farewell' fansign in South Korea on December 10th, Jiahang's birthday, and a 'welcome' one in China exactly a month later, before he focused solely on filming his fantasy period drama, 'Sealed Gates Of The Golden Heaven'. 'HUSH RUSH' and 'DELULU' were the only tracks that received MVs. The features of 'bye.n.buy.n' included J.J's newest labelmate TVBU's Aaron and IDOLMAKER's Daewon, O.z's longtime DJ and life partner Nico under her alterego NICEBNICO, as well as CHERRYADE's Jalen. Despite having minimal writing and co-writings credits on any of the songs, Jiahang came on record to say the EP was deeply and embarrassingly personal; with its first scrapped title being 'Little Heartbreak Mixtape'. It became an iNSYNC cult classic immediately, even though it pretty much didn't conquer the masses; weirdly enough, J.J seemed to be very at peace with that... Uh.

so excited about the gg version of loopin!!! also i hope you've never answered this question before, but if you had to put all the members (either boy or girl version (or both hehe)) as irl groups additions, where would you put each of them and why?

GG!LOOPiN has been a little remix project that brought me so much joy!!! They might seem a little abandoned right now but I do have stuff planned for them; they have some very interesting diversions from the original canon which I think are too fun to dismiss.

PENTAGON's TAESONG && OH MY GIRL'S TAEHEE

Both Pentagon and Oh My Girl are on opposite ends of the spectrum in so many ways, but they share that up and down era(s) in explosive commercial success that I personally think Taesong and Taehee would FREAK while trying to navigate. And putting Taeng in deep distress is hilarious to me! Not to mention how aligned I can picture them to be in the vocal lines of both groups.

ATEEZ'S MINWOO && (G)-IDLE'S MINAH

Minwoo and Minah can't function whitin groups that aren't self produced, don't have dramatics rises to fame and aren't fully responsible for pumping air into their companies lungs, so: ATEEZ and Idle. Minwoo already has a canon feud with ATEEZ - more about it here! -, and I think Minah and Soyeon would be either the strongest producer duo K-Pop has ever seen or a complete nuclear disaster. So that's fun to imagine. Truthfully, there is no real K-Pop group that could ever put the crazy beast inside these two to rest. They wouldn't stay in neither for very long.

SEVENTEEN'S SEUNGSOO && BLACKPINK'S YEONSOO

Seventeen is straight up what Seungsoo wishes LOOPiN was, commercially and on the team unity aspect - he's the only one of the Produce Line members that puts charts over arts -, and I believe he would be a great addition to their roster. And Imagining Yeonsoo as a Blackpink member having the opposite deal - no creative control under YG, but being uniquely famous - is also fun. She would turn into the Joker, probably, but I also think a team player like Soo would do wonders for them on a personal level. Both of them really are the most complete Idols in LOOPiN, and I just think they deserve monstrous success for that.

SF9'S HARUKI && RED VELVET'S HARU

Having Haruki in SF9 is the only way I can think of him ever enjoying doing sexy concepts; their artistic and melodic approach to it registers as music he would actually not detest. (can you tell I'm a Fantasy, lmao. Probably the reason why this vision comes so clearly to me is because I imagine his Idol persona to be a mixture of Yoo Taeyang and Rowoon's.) But what really brings tears to my eyes is Haru as a Red Velvet member. It's just too perfect. The 'duo' concept is exactly the sort of aspect that LOOPiN has that Haru appreciates. I also think her contemporary dancing background would be such a nice contrast to Red Velvet's dance line - I say put her on that Irene & Seulgi unit!

WANNA ONE'S GYUJIN && WEKI MEKI'S GYURI

I say put Woo Gyujin on a shitty survival reality show and make him win by a landslide! It just seems lore accurate for him to be a Produce winner and then subsequently disappear once Wanna One disbanded. Weki Meki's Gyuri on the other might have a more repressed career, but I stand by the idea that that's how they can handle being an Idol and stay mentally and physically healthy; with a slow decrease of momentum and for a moderate time. This isn't something they should be allowed to do forever.

NCT 127'S DYLAN && CLC'S DIANA

Dylan just has lost-member-of-NCT's-foreign-swagger energy to me. Their discography is right up their ally and I can't even imagine the amount of stress being in an 'infinite' group would cause on him. And I like to imagine what a situation like CLC's entire run would do to Diana's paranoid psyche. In similar fashion to my feelings towards Taeng, they're too much of chaos magnets to have smooth careers.

STRAY KIDS' O.Z && DREAMCATCHER'S Z.I

I think imagining someone as stoic and brutally honest as Wu Zhiming under JYP is hilarious. JYP the man would absolutely hate him. I say specially Stray Kids because [REDACTED OPINION ON THEIR MUSIC] and he could handle that. I'm not very familiar with Dreamcatcher beyond their Jrock sounding music and gay reputation, which are all things that match with Z.I's branding perfectly, so it's enough for me to put her there. She would fit like a glove and be delighted with the possibility to scream live.

ONLYONEOF'S HANJAE && ITZY'S EUNJAE

I already mentioned one time that in canon, there is a branch where Hanjae could have ended up on Onlyoneof because he trained with them before being transferred to LOOPiN last minute! Their concept would just absolutely kill him. I say put him in there, despite the tool it would take on his acting career, which is his ultimate end. Eunjae on Itzy feels more like a perfect fit of her Idol imagine and energy to a group, and I adore to imagine interactions she could have with the girls given her very shy personality. And it's their destiny to always be down bad by one of their teammates - It's Got Plot Importance! Kind Of -, I just know she would be so gone on Yeji. God bless.

RIIZE'S J.J && AESPA'S JAY

If only J.J and Jay had been brought into SM Entertainment instead of YG... What could have been... Jiahang is not exactly a perfect fit for RIIZE in image, and he would be the weakest dancer by a landslide, but a brat™ like him just can't fit in anywhere quite right. I love to imagine how his personality would mix in a group like them. He would be so fucking jealous of Wonbin, it's not even funny, but (one sided) competition always brings the best out of J.J. It would be a very interesting live for him for sure... Meanwhile, Aespa is the dream job for Janis; the one of a kind concept, their powerhouse status, the hit songs. She would explore THE SHIT out of Aespa's poor stage presence era to carve a name for herself, because if there is one think Jay can do is thrive in despite of others, lmao. The cunt she would serve! The lives she would change!

CRAVITY'S HAEGON && PRISTIN'S HASEON

Back on my If Haegon Had Gone To Starship agenda, and now adding a second variant through Haseon; What If She Never Left Pledis With Beomseok/Beomha? Seriously, Cravity!Haegon is his own mini AU by now, and I've thought about him extensively because, as I said it once and again, if 21yo Beomseok had left 16yo Haegon behind at Pledis Haegon would have bloomed instead of withered. Alas. Pristin Haseon, on the other hand, is just tragic; specially because their concept and their songs are exactly what I imagine she would want to make. She would be going solo right after their horrible 2019 disbandment, and although I love to think about any version of them as soloist, I hate to imagine Haseon on her own so early in her life; specially since she has a deep complex about portraying herself as "mature" that makes her vulnerable to exploitation. Can't really imagine this version of her outside of horror movie scenarios, unfortunately.
