We still making art out here!! In spite of it all!!!
And the Alistair rework is (finally) done 🫠 This one gave me by far the most trouble. I had to rework the lighting which made me have to pretty much repaint his armor AND I made the original painting on the wrong color profile and had to spend forever color correcting when switching it over to the right one 🥲
The Zevran rework is also already in progress (and going much more smoothly lol)

Romancing Gale with Durge and having THOUGHTS.
Gale compartmentalizing the absolute FUCK out of the fact that his best friend/girlfriend/soulmate/Reason for Living woke him up panicked and shaking and rambling about butlers telling her she was going to kill him and begging him to stop her.
Because that's a lot to hear at 2:00 am.
He very carefully separates the rabid, deranged things she says from the kind, gentle words she's whispered in his ear.
They talk about it afterwards, kind of, and she's ashamed and tells him everything and he says she should have told him earlier before remembering that she... did. Kind of. But if she notices, remembers how she went to him first to confess to bloody thoughts, she doesn't say anything. Just looks smaller. Sadder. He doesn't like that. She's big and bold and loud and funny, not small and quiet and shameful.
"Chin up," he says briskly, trying to make her smile. "We'll get through this."
Because she didn't leave him when he told her about the orb. Didn't call him a monster or an idiot or a heretic or anything like that. So why would he not return that kindness?
But later, days later, after they leave the Shadowlands behind a richer, verdant place and Baldur's Gate begins to loom on the horizon, it keeps popping back into his head.
And he finds he can't sleep.
She's right next to him. Inches away. Within arms reach. She looks peaceful but she looked peaceful before she killed Alfira too.
He finds he can't close his eyes for more than a few seconds at a time, for fear of them opening to her hands wrapped around his throat, a terrible smile on her lips.
"Hells, Gale, did you get ANY sleep last night?" Karlach asks the next day, and Gale blinks at her stupidly. And to his horror, Durge looks sad. Looks like she knows.
"I'm fine," he insists when she asks Wyll to sub in for him when they go into Baldur's Gate proper.
"Its truly not a big deal," he almost whines when she bullies him back into his bedroll.
"Stay here," she says kindly, so damn kindly, he doesn't deserve her kindness. "Get some rest. You'll sleep better if I'm not here."
Her hands run through his hair tenderly and he hates that she's right.

In origins, Alistair really downplays the trauma of being sent to the Chantry by arl eamon and kind of waves off 10-year-old Alistair’s very normal reaction as a childish tantrum that he was “too stubborn” to drop until eamon stopped visiting him. He blames himself for acting like a traumatized child, causing the man who had been a father figure to him for his entire life up until that point to stop visiting him at the Chantry that he was abandoned at. He doesn’t see it as eamon not being able to face the consequences of his decisions (forcing a kid into the catholic-school-to-catholic-army pipeline in order to appease your weird jealous wife = kid is mad at you), he blames himself for not immediately bouncing back from this horrible betrayal and for not putting on a happy facade. Ohhhh the characterization ohhhhhhh ouuughhhhhh aauaauauuughhh;;
