“This is my new song, about my struggles with mental health. If this is something that you relate to, just remember that you are enough.” - Tom.
"The Imposter by Tom Wilkins delves deep into Tom's own mental health journey. This indie track bares Tom's soul through honest and vulnerable lyrics, capturing the raw and intense emotions of feeling like an imposter in your own skin. Allow yourself to connect with Tom's personal truth and find solace in the shared human experience of self-discovery and authenticity."
The inspiration for the music video is taken directly from how I have felt when suffering with mental health issues. Through it's use of close up shots that cut out part of the subject in each frame, It is attempting to make you feel uncomfortable, and like something doesn't feel right. Mixed with the lyrics and feel of the song, this gives a very strong emotion.

Tom Wilkins announces a new song: "You Should Have Asked Me Sooner"
UK artist Tom Wilkins has recently dropped his latest track, "You Should Have Asked Me Sooner." The song features jangly, uplifting melodies that will immediately resonate with the audience. Clocking in at 3 minutes and 15 seconds, the tune begins with a very infectious drum pattern, with 16th-note hi-hats over a steady backbeat. The groove and the addition of the synthesizers serving as main melodic instruments in the song are reminiscent of artists such as The Cure at their catchiest, but there is also a more modern approach to this release.
The production has a very prominent Brit-Pop flair, but there is also a lot of variety on tap, making the arrangement stand out and enabling Tom to explore a much broader range of influences within the format of the song. The mix is also very balanced, highlighting the vocal layers and the song's distinctive rhythm section just as well.
In addition, the song holds a special place in Tom's heart, as it was inspired by a memorable second date with the woman who would become his wife, Alice. The couple was swimming in Newquay Harbour, UK when she suddenly turned to Tom in a panic and asked if he was scared of seals. It turned out that she just remembered that there was a seal living there, known to regularly play with swimmers in the harbor. Tom, however, found the situation hilarious and reassuringly told Alice that he wasn't scared of seals. In that light-hearted moment, Tom knew he was going to marry her. "You Should Have Asked Me Sooner" is more than just a song about that unforgettable date—it stands out as a true celebration of life and love. Tom captures the essence of a great relationship, built on simple yet unforgettable moments like "eating pizza on the sand, drinking beer in the sun." As trivial as they might seem on the surface level, these are the things that ultimately shape our lives and become the memories we cherish.
With this new release, Tom Wilkins not only shares a personal story but also reminds us all of the joy found in life's simplest pleasures. With its upbeat and happy sound, "You Should Have Asked Me Sooner" is a perfect fit for fans of artists like The Kooks, Francis Moon, The Libertines, and Scouting For Girls, only to name a few.
