What tomhanksrph looks for in roleplays

"Literate-based"

Back when I first starting to roleplay, this was not a term or separate denomination of the rp-verse.  To be honest, now that I am back on the hunt,  it saddens me that this is something groups have to put out to distinguish themselves.  In my opinion, tumblr rps should all be literate based.  I thought there were other platforms for less heavy para/multi-para to take place.  I feel like tumblr has a great layout for roleplayers, especially ones who like to write multiple paragraph responses to paras.  Getting back into the RP game, it's definitely been difficult finding RPs with plots I want to find a muse for AND seem to be heavily para-centered.

The only other interaction is gif-chatting,

and even then, gifs aren't required.  Maybe it's because I really do love to RP for the writing and character development for my novellas, but I'm a fan of shorter interactions that set up paras and relationships alongside lengthy, plot-driven para threads.

The flexibility of FCs for bio roleplays, and the direction of FCs for OC roleplays

Personally, I like a roleplay that accepts both bios and OCs.  I think if an RP has a good setting and plot, then RPers who will bring their own characters and RPers who don't want to create their own characters will be attracted to the RP.  I like having flexibility.  It also means that each character can be used in group-wide plots.

Group-wide plots (para topics)

This is a great way to keep the group interacting with people outside of the character's friend circle while moving the entire group plot forward.  I'm a little disappointed that the recent RPs I've joined don't have this, but that's my fault.  I expected that this was a given, because how else can you move a plot forward without telling the characters of the plot?

A small cap number of participants.

I like to be in RPs where there aren't more than 30-40 spots open.  That way, my character can know about 50% of the characters well and be introduced to at least 90% of the characters.  This also helps me bond better OOC with other muns.  Once you get over 40 characters, though, it's really tough.  Think about it in your own life--it's hard to have a clique of 40+ people.  Yeah, there are some fringe friends who switch in and out every once in a while, but for the most part, it's a smaller group, which is how the brain manages all of those friendships.

An admin who truly cares for the best of the RP

This means an admin who isn't gonna be writing every hour "Hey, we are appless! Please apply!" with a gif of their mascot attached below.  This means an admin who is going to try to be on as many hours as possible when the RP starts up, then transition into that really hard-to-attain balance between adminning and playing.  This means an admin who is going to look for their players' feedback and make sure all of the information is out on the page first, before worrying about graphics and gossip blogs, you know?

I guess when it comes down to it, I'm really just interested in a good place to write.  I can't always provide ways to develop my own plots for my own writing, which is why I was first drawn to RPing--it helps me develop characters and ideas.  I'm a little saddened that I can't seem to find what I'm looking for, anymore. I've spent hours searching for an RP that I could plausibly see myself developing a character there for even one month, and it's tough.

Proceeding without knowing in which direction, chance had led him to into the avenue of a beautiful castle, which the snow seemed to have respected. It consisted of four rows of orange trees, laden with flowers and fruits. This large and magnificent edifice appeared to be inhibited only by statues. A profound silence reigned throughout it; nevertheless it had not the air of an old palace that had been deserted.
