Gonna talk a bit more about my idea behind this under the cut!!! :3 recommend reading for fuuuun

With your prompt/idea I pretty quickly settled on the 'cuno getting to express his creativity' line. And i just kept thinking abt how he'd probably honestly like to pin insects!! Its kinda gruesome and cool in the way hed like i feel, especially in this 'being adopted and better adjusted with time' setting! My idea was that he is at Lena's, visiting with Harry and Cunoesse. Cunoesse obviously did not want to get involved in that lame locust stuff, so she probably stayed with the adults to listen in(probably does not want to leave her safe person either). Lena set Cuno up with all he needs to pin insects(and also snacks and water lol), and since migratory locusts are easy to come by they probably have a bunch they couldve let Cuno practice on!! I wanted to show Cuno struggling and maybe getting frustrated with himself, but thinking about locust city, and maybe finding a real connection between his past and present in himself (through locust city, a project i felt was important to him at the time).

The locusts I referenced for this were specifically Locusta migratoria :)

THANK U SO MUCH FOR BEING PATIENT WITH ME BTW. It is not even funny how much time i spent on this and i rly wish i coulda figured out the kinks of this much faster than i did in the end dhfjdndkdkf. BUT. This is how i wanted to express this idea and im happy I could do this for you!!

generally my art has such a different feel when i sketch random crap vs when i go for a ''finished'' piece its kind of a weird dissonance! i guess what im saying is wow im inconsistent but also i wanna post more sketchdumps bc that shit is always my favorite work LMFAO
