What I really appreciate about shopping king louie:
The fluffy, cheesy, adorable romance
Seo In Guk as a puppy
Suberp acting
SEO IN GUK KISS SCENES
The added animations to show how a character is feeling (eg. the adorable cat ears)
It’s quirky premise that shows even in the way it’s directed and how the story unfolds
- that even though it’s lighthearted 90% of the time, it still touches on a lot of deeper issues in a really subtle way. It shows the importance of having a support system, a family. That you don’t have to be related by blood to love someone or call them family. Because they just are.
The negative impact it has to be overprotective and shelter someone. I know it’s lighthearted, sometimes joked about, but Louie was so overprotected to the point where he really had no idea how to do anything himself. He didn’t know how the world worked because everything was handed to him. And that’s not particularly his fault either, because even before he loses his memories you see that the boy just wants to experience the world. But since he’s been sheltered for so long, he’s so ill prepared for the real world. While I don’t hate his grandma because what she did was out of love and loss, I hope she realises by the end of this that protecting Louie like she did maybe kept him alive, but it was only once he was thrown into the real world that he grew up. Over protecting somebody is never the answer because bad things happen. You can’t stop the people you love from experiencing pain, only be there to ease it and guide them through it.
I also really adore that Louie was happiest after he lost his memory and met Bok Sil. Not just because it’s Bok Sil, but because they weren’t rich. They didn’t have buckets of money, or a lavish apartment. But he was happy. And when he finds out that he is rich, what does he do? He gives and he gives. He doesn’t disregard them, act ungrateful, or forget them. None of this “i’m rich now oh no what do I do we are from different worlds!!!”. The only difference now to him is that he can give back because he has the money and power to do that now.
Honestly Louie is such a kind hearted human and I just love that. He grows up, and yet he still keeps that childlike innocence that we all fell in love with.

‘Hey, Clark, tell me something good.’
I told him a story of two people. Two people who shouldn’t have met, and who didn’t like each other much when they did, but who found they were the only two people in the world who could possibly have understood each other. And I told him of the adventures they had, the places they had gone, and the things I had seen that I had never expected to. I conjured for him electric skies and iridescent seas and evenings full of laughter and silly jokes. I drew a world for him, a world far from a Swiss industrial estate, a world in which he was still somehow the person he had wanted to be. I drew the world he had created for me, full of wonder and possibility.
‘It has been the best six months of my entire life.’
‘Funnily enough, Clark, mine too.’
