What do you think about the state of the cm fandom atm?

Is there something going on that I don't know about? 👀

Honestly, I haven't written in a long time and don't read as much CM fanfics as I should. The most I'm in the fandom is our community discord server, and everything seems to be doing well there.

As you can tell, I'm barely on Tumblr as well lol from what I know, it seems pretty calm. Better than at its peak during lockdown. Then again, I might just not know what is going on in it atm.

I'm curious now though 😂☕

Thank you! I can't believe that fic has over 4000 kudos - all from an idea I got while listening to Nickelback 😂 It was one of my favorite to write though.

there has been some hotchreid hate on tumblr lately, what do u think about it?

HotchReid hate has always existed on Tumblr, and it's not new.

People normally hate Hotchreid because it is the most popular character/character ship on ao3 in the Criminal Minds fandom, they just don't "get it", they disagree with the age difference, Hotch being Spencer's boss, or they don't like seeing their found family people seen as a ship and like, that is fine. To each their own, right?

The only problem I have is when people who claim it is because of the age difference, boss/subordinate, or found family, then go out and read/write Hotch/reader or OC or Spencer/reader or OC where the MC is Spencer's student or the new young BAU member or so and so's daughter, etc. If you blame your hate on a dynamic, but then turn around and write/read that same dynamic in a hetero ship, we have to wonder what the real issue is.

I'm a pro-shipper though. Freedom to write and read whatever the fuck you want. Ao3 was literally founded on the idea of "let me write what I wanna write".

I'm also a pro-blocking people. People need to stop seeing everything as a fight. People are allowed to have opinions and share them, even if they are stupid opinions. And you are allowed to just block the person. Never see them again.

Curate your own online experience. Don't fight with people over your ship, they will never agree. All of the ideas we have over these fandoms are just built on our own perception of the show and headcanons.

Let's just have fun before the hyperfixation dies.
