Walking around the abandoned mining town of Nuttalburg. People before had gathered up pots and pans, old glass, metal and other artifacts they happened to find strewn around the place. I made sure to add to the pile some of the glass I found while picking up litter.

Some fresh Ghost Pipe (Monotropa uniflora). I'm lucky to say it's fairly common where I live now, but its still always super cool to see.

I spent some time with this Canada Goose in mourning the other day. Canada Geese mate for life, when their mates are ill or pass away, they'll isolate themselves from the rest of the flock to mourn. They were swimming circles only 10 or so meters from their dead partner who looked to have been killed and eaten. Nesting areas are being established and groups are fighting for the best spot. Hopefully this one is able to find love again, as unlikely as it is. A sad and somber moment.
