Biography

Selene Woods was born into a very strict religious family; her father died before she was born and that left her alone with her crazy religious mother. From a start, Selene was very rebellious and smart and trusted more science than the words of something that had no explanation which only made her mother be more strict with her; forcing her to read the bible, slapped when she dared to question anything and silenced when she dared to speak up. Selene’s deep aversion for her own mother only grew stronger with her actions and then everything turned worse…

Her mother always claimed there was something different about her since bizarre incidents were constantly following her around and Selene herself new perfectly well she was in fact different. One night, Selene was in her room practicing her abilities which grew stronger each day. She was preparing for her escape, so one day she wouldn’t have to hide. Her mother was peeking and when she saw her daughter start a fire in her hand and she panicked; her daughter was pure evil and she had to stop her. She walked downstairs to get a knife, she planned on killing Selene in her sleep but she didn’t notice her daughter followed her so when she turned around and saw her daughter stare back at her with an innocent angelic smile on her face… she froze.

Selene killed her mother that night and made it look like it was all in self-defense, which in a way it was. The girl gave an unbelievable performance that night telling the authorities that her mother was crazy and said that she planned to sacrifice her in the name of God. The girl was sent to live with her father’s mother who was a mutant like Selene; the rich elderly believed her granddaughter’s act and sent the girl to Atlas believing that she would be learn and be able to control her powers there but little did she know that her granddaughter was up to something much bigger than just blending in.

Selene’s time in Atlas was surely short as she was eager to graduate and get out of the town to conquer the world but who would’ve known that the main source for power would be in the very same town she left. The woman went to Harvard’s Business school where she learned everything she could to be the most powerful woman she could be, dominating everything from management, finances, marketing and investments and with everything her grandmother left her in her will she build a name for herself.

With an angel like face, you would think Selene is the sweetest girl on earth but it turns out she is the complete opposite; while, she knows than in order to rise above she needs both, allies and followers, she is not willing to kiss anyone’s feet in order to be liked or loved by anyone. Extremely smart and manipulative, Selene strongly despises human kind and any mutant who believes that they are equals and she is willing to do anything to build a world where mutants are in control. Her vision is simple: a human free world with herself sitting on a throne.

Present

Now one of the youngest and more successful business women, she started by working at Wall Street at one of the most privileged firms, she started to invest here and there until she started her own clothing line designed for mutants who had to deal with some abilities that could rip or disintegrate their own clothes; this was the first step to be adored by many mutants. Shortly after she started her own company where she would invest in other’s company to help them branch out or start out and she would own part of their company as well. But this was no easy deal, as making a deal with Selene was like making a deal with the devil; you fail her once and she’ll cut you out of the game and destroy you.

Biography

If Lucas had been born anywhere else, his life would not be nearly as easy as it is. Only in Hestia would a family of giants have gained so much respect and power. No one is quite sure how exactly they climbed the social ladder so quickly, but they all know to never cross a Del Olmo. 

Because of this legacy, Lucas never had to struggle for anything. Everything was handed to him on a silver platter. All the finest toys, the best schools, and technology could be his long as he didn’t bother his parents. He could and did travel to far worlds long as he took his nanny instead of ‘forcing’ his parents to go with him. 

This distance from his parents created a dependence on his nannies, but every couple of months his mother would fire them. Instead of telling him the truth that his father had slept with them, his mother would cruelly say that they couldn’t stand taking care of him anymore. Of course, she was reflecting her own pain from her husband cheating on her to her son, but Lucas had no idea. He just thought that his nannies were being cruel to him. 

Then one day some red headed poor kid stole one of his toys, and Lucas realized what the problem was. It was that they were poor. His mother and father were constantly complaining about the poor people stealing their money, and it finally clicked for him that day. 

As he got older, his anger towards poor people lightened, and sometimes he even forgot it.  However, that distinct feeling continues to haunt him now that he is a judge, and it has caused some people to hate him as a judge despite the fact that everyone agrees that he is a nice and pleasant person to be around. Some just can’t understand why he’s so unfair. 

Present

People’s opinions of Lucas seem to be incredibly divided. There seems to be no middle of the road for him. They either love or hate him, and honestly it mostly has to do with what financial status that person has. Those who are poor often feel like he punishes them worse than those who have more money. They get larger speeding tickets, they’re more likely to get thrown in jail for something small, and they almost never get forgiven for anything. Those who are middle class and rich feel like he’s a fair judge, and they love him. Due to the fact that Hestia has an unusually large middle and upper class, not many people have heard the negative opinion of Lucas, and therefore what he has done has been swept under the carpet.

Biography

Los Angeles, home of the weird, just wasn’t equipped for the little mutant who had been orphaned at five through mysterious circumstances. The humans both feared and despised the blonde little girl that almost always seemed to be boiling over with anger. 

Some foster parents took it upon themselves to try to break her of that anger. There was one couple who tried to love her and place her in therapy, but in the end they just weren’t equipped to deal with a mutant. Most of her foster parents, though, weren’t so kind. Some drugged her until she resembled a zombie, some tried to beat the anger out of her, and almost all of them returned her anger with more anger which only made her more powerful. 

One day she found a chat room where there were people just like her- people with special abilities. They were kind and interested in her, and they made her feel less alone. Soon after school, Lauren would spend her whole night online with them. 

After a couple of months they began to talk about where they all lived together. There was a huge farm where they all worked to be self-sustaining. They started to talk about how stupid and weak the humans around her were. At first it seemed strange to her, but after months of them being the only kind people in her life she began to agree that the humans were heathens. 

Then, with the encouragement of the group, she murdered everyone in her foster home, and then she left to Washington. 

For four years, she lived with them. They taught her how to channel her anger and how to find calm. But most importantly they took her into their homes, and they loved her as if she was their own. 

They also taught her the message of God: the earth was their birthright, and they must take it from the heathen race of humans. 

Present

After that they decided to send her to check out the “revolution” that they had heard was unraveling in Hestia. With the money that they made from selling food, they’re funding her education at Alexandria Academy while she spies on the Pro-Supremacy group to see if they’re willing to have her cult join them.

Biography

"Death is not the end, but a new birth.” Cai’s father once told her this. It’s something that had stuck with her for a long time- especially told her about the family secret. 

The Xis were apparently cursed long ago. Because of this, they not only have a death sense to know just when a person who is near death will die, but if they are not careful to stay away from death they could bring the death back to life and control that being. 

Of course, Cai followed her father’s words to stay away. They could not go to funerals, grave yards, mortuaries, or anything that held dead bodies. Her father was a cautious man who knew that sometimes teenagers rebelled or that mistakes were made, so he also taught her how to re-kill a raised body. Though, he made it incredibly clear that once a soul was raised it would be doomed to roam forever. 

Although Cai had to live with this, her life was mostly normal. She struggled in school until she enrolled into Atlas Academy, she had lots of friends, and her single father doted over her with incomparable adoration. Her father wasn’t the brightest man in the world (he’d forget if he was cooking if she didn’t remind him sometimes), but he would go to the ends of the earth for her. 

The day after Cai had graduated from middle school she realized just how precious that good life could be. 

Both she and her father were walking from the grocery store with party supplies for a graduation party that she had thought was silly, but he wanted to celebrate her achievements. As they talked about making a cake, a man ran up to them with a gun and demanded all of her father’s money. 

Her father was a small and aging man, so he wasn’t going to fight the man. He started shifting around the large brown paper bags in his hands, but they were shaking violently, and one of the bags fell with a loud pop as the bag of chips burst open. 

High and startled, the man shot her father, and then, as he realized what he had done, ran off. 

Cai called for help as she fell beside her father. She cradled his head and kept talking to him as she tried to keep his mood up. 

After five minutes, her father began to beg her to leave. He begged her to not make his soul roam the earth forever. Cai didn’t want to believe that her father was going to die that way. She kept begging him to fight. 

No child would have handled the murder of their parent well, but Cai is still haunted by her father’s death for an entirely different reason than usual. 

Just a minute after he passed away, he began to come back to life. Those eyes that she had come to love were completely devoid of all signs of her father. All that was left in the gasping creature was motor functions. She was quick to recite the right spell and stab her father in the heart. 

But the damage had been done. 

She had damned her father to wander the earth forever. 

Present

After that Cai was never the same. She became obsessed with knowing everything about necromancy and death, so that she could banish her father from this plane. Eventually, she became a pastor in Hestia. She uses her position now to have access to bodies to perform rights and work on freeing her father.

Biography

Near 700 years of life has made Wati realize that he had been born at the right time and the right family. Just as the Mali empire was at its height under Musa Keita I, Wati was becoming a man. Since his father was a well known and powerful merchant getting Wati into the Sankore Madrasah was but a simple task. 

But the way that Wati flourished in school was his own doing. He loved learning, and so any chance to read was an exciting prospect. 

It would be that interest in reading that would damn him. With the Sankore Madrasah reaching its heights as far as its numbers of text, at some point it was going to get a collection of dark books, and of course Wati would have read them. There he found clues to the “root” of all evil, and as a holy man he felt the need to irradicate this evil. 

This lead him on a five year trek to Greece. Deep in the bowls of the earth were demons who were rumored to feed upon the living to keep alive forever. 

This hunt turned out to be a terrible mistake. The demon was faster than he, and out of pure malice the vampire changed Wati into one of them. 

Wati never saw his creator again, but his actions lasted. He tried to kill himself in as many ways as possible, but he just couldn’t do it. 

At first he tried just living and gaining wealth to help others, but after a while it just wasn’t fulfilling. For one reason or another the good he did always seemed to backfire, and the wealth was empty when he had forever and nothing to do with it. 

This was why he began to sleep for years. Occasionally he’d have to get up to feed, and at that point he’d decide whether to join that time period or not.  

Present

Recently, he woke up and found out about some sort of revolution where mutants and other beings were wanting to be seen and heard in public. Wati is curious about this, and so he has come out of his forty year sleep to investigate.

Donald Trump passed an executive order stating that all mutants absolutely have to declare themselves a mutant on the census come 2020. The Mutant community is alight with gossip and fear. If you have an opinion about this, make sure to message your politicians.

Biography

Kind, open, and patient. People rave about how wonderful a paramedic Vittorio is. He always seems to know what to do, he keeps calm at all times, and he is reassuring to both the patient and their family. This kindness and friendliness has made him well liked in Hestia. When he walks into a room, he faces of all the occupants seems to light up. 

But under all of his friendliness, Vittorio hide a deep insecurity. 

“¡Tú, monstruo!” It was a slip of his mother’s tongue when she saw her ‘daughter’ in a mud covered dress after fighting with some boys. It wasn’t the last time that he’d be called that, and it wasn’t the last time that his mother was disappointed in him. 

Time and again Vittorio disappointed his mother by defying gender norms. Up until he went to Atlas Academy he felt confused about his place in the world. His mother sobbed, beat, and manipulated Vittorio into acting and looking like something that felt wrong. 

Then at Atlas he was far enough away from his mother to start to be himself. He was moved to the male dorms, got a scholarship from the headmistress to transition, and at the age of eighteen he finally looked in the mirror and saw himself- physically, emotionally, and legally Vittorio. 

But this wasn’t the only difficult transition for Vittorio. On his 15th birthday a high fever struck him, and for two weeks he had to deal with and agonizingly slow transition to a werewolf. Bones were broken, clothes destroyed, and skin stretched to fit his new frame. 

“You’re a monster!” His friend had declared the first time that Vittorio had changed. Vittorio had attacked his friend and was going to eat him, but something in him remembered who he was attacking. So he ran away. 

And so under all of the smiles and pleasantness Vittorio knows that he is the monster his mother always thought he was- just not exactly for the reason she thought he was. 

Present

Since the attack on his friend, Vittorio has chained himself up every time he feels a transformation coming on, but he still fears that one day he’ll not be able to stop himself.

Biography

Music was the soul of Callista’s community. Her father was a liberal preacher of a Presbyterian church where he would encourage dramatic presentations and songs to express the love of God. Her mother was a music teacher at the local high school, and she was the choir director at her husband’s church. Her siblings and she sang in the choir both at church and school. Her friends were in the school’s choir too. 

She grew up in love with artists like Janet Jackson, Destiny’s Child, Micheal Jackson, and Jimi Hendrix. Her parents played records and CDs almost all day long, and it seemed like someone was almost always singing something. 

Her mother always told her, “Callie, your voice is absolutely bewitching!” Her mother had no idea how true what she had said was. There was something unique about Callista that her parents could never quite but their finger on. 

Until one day she was walking down the road singing to herself, and a man walked straight into oncoming traffic in an attempt to desperately get to her. 

That day the music stopped, or Calista’s music stopped. She stopped singing. She stopped listening to music for a while out of fear she would hurt someone again. She was isolated in a family of musicians. 

Atlas helped to some degree, because she got to know more people like her. However, even to this day Callista continues to miss singing. 

Present

After high school, Callista went to school for writing and publication and found a place where she could express her emotions- on a piece of paper. Since she didn’t have the courage to go out into the world in the hopes of becoming a published author, she joined a firm as an editor. Now she writes and sings at home while working a job she doesn’t hate but also doesn’t love.

Biography

Hayden had it easy- or so zie thinks. Zir hippie parents may have moved around a lot the first seven years of zir life, but as soon as zie complained about how hard it was to make friends, they settled down and bought a home. This was the typical behavior from zir parents. While they certainly punished zir for bad behavior, they tried to prevent the bad behavior in the first place. They encouraged zir hobbies, and they funded every trip zie wanted to go on. 

Hayden loved zir life for a while, but zir parents calmness and the perfection of zir life started to bother zir when zir best friend snapped, “You wouldn’t understand! Your life is perfect!” Then when zir parents responded with nothing but love and kindness when Hayden came out as both genderfluid and not straight, Hayden reached the end of zir rope. 

Zie shouted at zir parents, packed up, and ran away to the capital of zir hope state. Zie bounced from home to home until one day the apartment that zie was in set on fire. 

Hayden felt a sudden thrill that zie never felt before as zie suffocated the fire with zir ability. Finally that itch had been scratched, but now zie needed more. 

Zie left to Hestia where zie went to a technical school and eventually became a firefighter. 

Present

Unfortunately for Hayden, that itch can’t seem to be irradicated. It sometimes becomes overwhelming. Sometimes she has to start the fire, so she can be the one to put it out.

This morning the President of the United States tweeted the following message:

Security for the United States is more important than anything. All Mutants residing in the United States must register themselves as a mutant. This along with my other policies will make America safer for all.

What will this mean for the mutants of Hestia? Will you register as a mutant or will you resist?

I’ll admit I don’t quite understand what you asked, and so I’ll pose two different answers. If this doesn’t answer your question feel free to send us another message, and we’ll try to answer as best as we can! 

1. Can you play a mutant that is against Pro-Supremacy? Why yes you can! That is what the Pro-Equality group is for!2. Can you play a mutant that doesn’t like the leadership of an group that they like? (Ex: If they don’t like Declan Buchanan, but support the Pro-Equality group)Yes, you absolutely can! 3. Can you play a mutant that hates mutants? Yes you can! Actually we have an open character that’s like that already, so you know that we love the idea!

Happy Independence Day!

To celebrate the holiday Olivia Carter and Jacob Ross have sent out a mass invitation to their friends and neighbors to attend a block party at their home. They will host a large cook out and later that evening a firework show. Every citizen in Hestia is encouraged to come and enjoy themselves. 

This event begins today and will go through July 8, 2017 to give everyone plenty of time to make starters and have their characters socialize. We hope everyone gets a chance to participate.

Today (June 30)  is a great day for all of here at Titanomachy Roleplay, because it's the anniversary of the day Admin Lea was brought into this world! I know I speak for everyone when I say that this role play wouldn't be what it is without you Lea. Your dedication for perfection, your expressive, beautiful writing, the way you bring your characters to life....they're all part of what makes being here at Titanomachy great.

Your characters are irreplaceable. Esmeralda is intelligent yet tender, Declan is strong yet fragile, Lexi is brave yet fearful, and Jasper aloof yet sweet. All of your characters have deep, complex personalities that take time, effort, and passion to create. Your writing inspires us to do more, be more, dig deeper, and be more creative ourselves.  We'd like to thank you for everything you do (which is everything honestly). Summer is here!

And with summer comes comes many vacations and actives, and fun events so we know activity can get a bit low- BUT as reminder, if you get bored, we’ve got our first writing prompt up and plenty of character development challenges to keep the creative juices flowing. Also today is TMI Tuesday for those who want a full inbox of questions <3
