Headcanon that Tyler got his EMT certification one off-season and works part-time as an EMT in Arkansas. He was grateful for the ones who kept him alive with every bull riding injury and needed something to do during the winter when the channel was mostly offline.

It comes in handy when they’re out chasing and one of his crew gets hurt, or he swoops in to help after a town is razed to the ground. He works to triage smaller injuries and things they can do in the field.

It’s especially handy when he meets Kate Carter, because he’s finally met his match and then some. She lives her life by throwing herself into tornadoes like a maniac (he’s a professional maniac, she’s just insane). Every time he pulls her from a car he goes through his ‘Tyler Triage’ checklist, as the team has called it.

His checklist however does not triage heart attacks, which he thinks will be in his future by falling in love with Kate.
