I asked my kids if they’d prefer a secret garden or a secret library and my son shook his head and was like “I don’t trust the secret gardeners and librarians”

okay, so today has been an absolute wild ride, but I wanted to make a post and share what’s happened with everyone here, because it’s kind of a big thing.
I went out with my mother this morning to get some Necessities from the store. on the way back to the house, we found one of the outdoor stray cat’s we’ve been feeding, Dahlia, on the side of the road. she’d been hit by a car and hadn’t made it.
as heartbroken as we were, there was a bigger issue.
four days ago, Dahlia had a litter of kittens in the stormage ditch just off the side of our property.
pictured below, the ditch
it’s about twenty inches around, and twenty foot long. the far end of the tunnel is crushed and inaccessible. the kittens? fifteen foot into the tunnel.
below is a series of pictures of me, crawling into said tunnel.
second post with the rest of the story to come.

Don’t mail shit? Still want to help the USPS?
Okay so everyone’s like BUY STAMPS but if you’re like me, you send maybe 5 letters a year, if that. You’re sitting there going “Okay, I could buy like… a page of stamps, but my last one is still only half-used… I’m more likely to lose it before I use them all up.”
That’s cool, same.
Here’s an alternative option:
Go to the USPS website, as if you’re going to buy some stamps, right? Browse through the fancy new ones until you find one you like… say this one:
Pretty neat, right?
Instead of buying the stamps that will literally take you years to go through, scroll alllllll the way to the bottom.
What’s that? A tote bag with the same design?! Yup! A set of 5 tote bags even, for your friends too. Wouldn’t that be cool to use for trick-or-treating?
You can also type the name of the stamp design you want into the search bar:
A mug! A rubber stamp set!
Different designs have different gifts! There are even gifts for designs they don’t have in individual sheets any more…
Look at the dragons!
There are so many cool things on the USPS’s website. And yeah, some of them also come with stamps (like the kid’s book) but hey, you’re mostly getting the book!
You can also start a collection with the first day of issue cancellations (usually about $2 each) and other fun things even if you don’t mail letters regularly.

Show up to your appointments on time [early].
This applies even when there isn’t a pandemic but is more important now. Let’s say your appointment is at 3:00. You show up at 3:15. A staff member has to come out to your car, get your animal, get it into a room, call you to get a history, the doctor has to examine your pet, call you to discuss findings and go over possible treatments, perform these treatments, then get your pet back to you. Most places have 20-30 minute appointments.
When this started most of my appointments were early. Now most are 15-20 minutes late. As more hospitals close I’m seeing more patients that have more issues. Please show up to your visits 10 minutes early. Yes, you may end up waiting but I promise your vet appreciates it.
