There's something that I find equal parts hilarious and terrifying.
On one hand it is so funny watching the generation previous to mine (I was born in 84) absolutely say the most unhinged shit online, doxx themselves, and get fired, after spending my entire childhood teaching me online opsec because every stranger was a potential murderer. Social media done rotted their brains.
But on the other I'm seeing kids coming up, seeing them spew all their personals online, and using that to model their unsafe behavior and put themselves at incredible risk because the internet actually got way more dangerous than it was, ironically, when I was coming up being told I had to basically outsmart the fuckin CIA. Now the actual CIA and other bad actors (government, private, and individual) really are out there and these kids are watching fucking meemaw post a photo of the front of her house practically captioned with her fucking SSN and thinking, "yeah, sure, the adults know what's safe."
I gotta be a fuckin millennial about this and beg younger folx to listen to the VCR generation: hide yourself online. Nothing should go there you wouldn't want in the hands of the person who hates you the most.
Be safe, be smart, be a fucking ghost.

I re-blogged this (the first time) in 2014. Today, I tried half a dozen times to re-blog it, and it wouldn’t work. So, I saved the images and re-posted it. I hope it helps make life a little easier. :-) The original post is by iraffiruse.

This 1824 home in New Orleans, LA looks dirty and in need of repair. I wasn't prepared for the interior of the 4bd, 4ba, 2,164 sq ft house, but I was wondering why it's $1m, so I took a look.
Yowzah! This is beautiful. The original wood, exposed brick, floor, and built-ins are wonderful.
It's a double shotgun house. See? Here's a perfect example of one that hasn't been renovated. If you shoot a shotgun thru it, the bullet would indeed go straight from the front to the back.
The kitchen remodel is perfect. The color of the cabinetry fits in so beautifully.
Love the untouched walls with the chippy paint.
Pretty, bright blue bedroom with a little desk in the window well.
Vintage bath remodel. Love that they left the fireplace.
The other bedroom is smaller, but it's adorable.
The house wasn't renovated, so it's still a classic double shotgun. Here's the other side. The living room brick on this side was painted. It has a lovely fireplace, seems like they bricked up a window, and look at the ceiling beams.
The kitchen on this side is very different. The whole look of the apt. is different. This one has a bit of an old industrial loft vibe.
This is mostly original. Look at the door under the stairs.
This side also has 2 bedrooms. This is the larger one.
And, this is the cozy smaller one.
The yard is small, as is typical, but it's got a pond and lovely container gardens on a patio.
View from above.
The semi-detached home is on a 2,880 sq ft lot.
According to this vintage photo, the house hasn't changed a bit.

Beautiful, affordable, 1885 home was a Jewish temple before it became a church in Ligonier, IN. 3bds, 3ba, 2,040 sq ft, $275k.
Isn't this attractive? The colorful windows against the black & white really make it pop.
I love it, and you can't beat the price.
Lovely gothic door with a stained glass window over it.
Big, kitchen island.
It's actually a dark navy blue. Very nice.
Gorgeous window over the sink. I'd be afraid of staining that solid white counter.
Good size bedroom with stained glass windows.
Nice ensuite.
It's lovely up here. A home office area fits perfectly.
The window makes an attractive backdrop for the bed in the loft.
And, the 3rd lovely bedroom is also roomy.
Beautiful bath fixtures.
Beautiful building.
.25 acre lot. You could do a lot w/a yard that size.
Also has gorgeous trees out front when it's not winter.

Completely off-the-grid 2010 Earthship in Tres Piedras, NM. 3bds, 2ba, 2,000 sq ft, $685k. It's one of the nicer ones I've seen, but I don't think I'd pay $685k to live in the desert.
All Earthships have to have a loggia with plants and this one's pretty nice. It's more like a sun room.
Very nice.
Pretty details. The colorful bottles look jewel-like.
Full kitchen. Look at the carvings on the wood.
Nice pattern in the floor.
Comfortable living room.
Very private bedrooms off the outer sun room.
Large window and closet area.
I still don't get how these walls could be waterproof.
Another bedroom off the sun room. They're pretty nice.
Even like this one, for instance, has no tile in the shower.
This large sitting room is a flexible space. Could be a studio, office, etc.
The best spaces in these Earthships are the indoor plant areas.
At first I thought this was laundry, but it's decor.
Someone walking thru the desert brush.
Outdoor plantings and a deck.
Nice rainbow, but it's still so desolate and isolated.
There appear to be several neighbors, all Earthships. 1.83 acres.

I genuinely think there was no greater insight into the modern Christian mindset than when the Pope said he very much hoped Hell was empty and he was absolutely hounded by both Catholics and Protestants outraged at the idea of a man who wanted a place of infinite suffering to have nobody in it.

watching pitch perfect 2 and thinking about chloe and beca doing the grocery shopping for the bella’s house. chloe just throwing anything that looks appealing into the cart while beca crosses off each item on her list.
also chloe curling beca’s hair not knowing she’s going to the first day of her internship!!
beca scratching down notes for her boss on the same notepad she uses for the grocery list. she zones out a little during meetings just looking at chloe’s handwriting.
chloe excitedly texting beca all about a legacy joining the bella’s—so much so that beca needs to silence her notifications after her boss shoots her a glare.

1861 church in Pittsburgh, PA has been converted to condos. This one is a 3bd, 3ba 2,445 sq ft multi-level unit. $499,900 + $440mo. HOA fee. We saw another unit in this building last week, but this one is very different and less than 1/2 the price.
This is the main entrance and lobby for the units on this side of the building.
I like that they kept a lot of the original brick walls. And as soon as you open the doors, you see them.
In the living room there's a lovely spiral staircase.
The spacious kitchen is part of the living room.
It's a real cook's kitchen with professional appliances.
Also facing the kitchen they have a desk in the steeple area.
Coming down stairs, there's a stone fireplace on the lower level. The flooring is original and so is all the wood.
A large family room is under the upper floor and while it looks like a loft, they chose to cover it, so it's not openly visible.
This looks like a 1/2 bath.
The primary bedroom is large and has a transom over the door.
The ensuite features glass block and also houses the washer/dryer.
There's a 2nd, larger spiral staircase.
This bedroom is very big. That door is interesting, it kind of looks like an old safe door.
The toilet and sink are in here.
But, the jetted tub is separate.
There's a small patio and grassy area in front of the building.
The units on this side of the building have terraces, but the ones on the other side have roof top decks.

NOOOOOOOOO! Why did they buy this gorgeous, 6bd, 4ba, colorful home 5,340 sq ft, Hood River, OR home for $1,964,700 and do THIS:
OMG, let's revisit what it USED to look like before these charlatans bought it.
I could cry. It was so delightful.
There was a colorful, bright, dining room.
And, I wonder what they did w/that stove.
The kitchen had aisles of cabinetry with colorful cats capping the ends.
Love this room.
Look at the 2nd fl. addition they did.
Fabulous.
I don't even know if any of these architectural features remain.
Such lovely glass rooms.
So many light, sunny rooms with windows for great views.
Lots of built-in shelving in the large primary bedroom.
The home has shelves galore, which would've been perfect for an avid reader or someone with an extensive collection to display.
There is a real library, too. Look at the stacks.
This looks like a walk-in closet. Very elegant.
Look at the tile in this bath.
All of the bedrooms have windows w/beautiful views.
There was a home gym in the lower level, p.us a rec room.
A colorful gazebo stood on the garage roof.
Delightful deck facing the Columbia River.
The evolution- When it was built in 1920, then it was renovated and colorful, now, the latest reno in dark gray and brown.

Single family church conversion. This is a pretty good conversion, b/c it's so large, it could've been split into condos. The former Lutheran, then Methodist, church is a 1917 Gothic Revival located in New Orleans, LA. Has 5bds, 5ba, 5,153 sq ft, $1.249m.
Lovely gothic entrance doors and sweeping staircase.
Love that it looks like a church. The main room is the main living area.
There's the choir loft, still intact, and all the original stained glass windows.
I love that they have some of the original furniture. There's a pew on the left, by the pool table. But, I also like the addition of the graceful Gothic style spiral stairs.
The kitchen cabinetry consists of all original Gothic pieces. The island is the actual former altar.
Love the red stove.
Beautiful old Gothic piece.
There are some more original pieces. I wonder if they will convey to the new owner.
Large formal dining room set in front of the kitchen.
Very nice- they put a marble counter on the alter and cut in a kitchen sink.
There are 5 bedrooms, all but one are on the small side.
And 5 baths. They made a sink out of an antique sideboard and fine China bowl in here.
Some nice exposed brick walls.
Mklodern shower room back here.
Plus separate laundry room with a utility sink.
Another smaller bedroom.
This is unusual, there're stairs in this bath. Look at the little sink in the corner.
This bedroom has a beautiful stained glass window.
The primary bedroom is up in the loft and has a nice sitting are. Isn't this beautiful?
It's the largest bedroom, located in front of the church, and has the prettiest window. They have it so plain, and it's screaming for decor.
It has an interesting ensuite. I wonder if that's a bell tower ladder.
5,880 sq ft lot

Caper in the Castro is a legendary video game, not because legions of die-hard fans continue to play it, but because it was thought to be lost forever. Now, what is largely considered to be the first LGBTQ-focused video game (it was released in 1989) is on the Internet Archive for anybody to play.
The game is a noir point-and-click that puts the player in the (gum)shoes of a private detective named Tracker McDyke who is, in case you couldn’t guess by the name, a lesbian. McDyke must unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Tessy LaFemme, a transgender woman, in San Francisco’s Castro district, an historically gay neighbourhood.
OOOOOHhh!
The game was released as charityware – freely, with a strong request to give a donation an AIDS Charity of their choice. I’d like to push towards still following that and donating, if you’re able.
(And you might also want to donate to the Internet Archive, who is hosting it now, while you’re at it – they’re in the middle of a donation drive, and could use your support.)
