Oh thanks anon I appreciate all the love really! And I'm fine! More than fine actually :3 I've been going out to so many events and stuff and getting a LOT into cosplay lately :3 I've had such amazing friends that have helped with it and I'm super excited for this new era!

Plus I've got LOTS of new inspirations and ideas for my art and my patreon :3 I'm like SUPER BUSY irl too with work and commissions and cosplay events + posting all that :'3 but that's what makes me so happy lately actually, being busy.

Oh this one... they did Astrid so DIRTY in this episode... like I know Snotlout was the focus and they wanted conflict between him and Hiccup which ok I do like (ppl often forget how much development Snotlout got cause he WAS a nuisance and a VERY hard character to write in ROB/DOB) like yes pls let them have conflict.

BUT ASTRID... MY DEAREST... Competitive Astrid??? not getting a single point? not winning at least ONE Thawfest? Not being PROUD of winning??? man... I blame the writers :'v

I have a bone to pick with the episode "Thawfest"..

So if you don't remember or just don't know, Thawfest is epsiode 12 of RoB. In short, the plot follows the riders who are competing in the yearly Thawfest competition. Every year Snotlout wins, however since this year involves dragons, Hiccup actually has a chance to win.

Now, this episode ABSOLUTELY ANNOYS THE HELL OUT OF ME.

First of all, I do not believe for a single second that Astrid didn't get a single point. That just makes no sense to me.

Now, moving on to my bigger issues with this episode. Why in the absolute hellsack was Astrid annoyed at Hiccup for being a lousy winner?? All his life, Hiccup has been the loser in like, most things in life. The dissapointment child of the chief, the dumb kid who always messes up, scrawny loser etc etc.. So why is it so horrible when he matches Snotlouts cocky attitude for ONE day???

Look, I love Snotlout and DESPISE Spitelout even more, but did we forget that Stoick was just as stress inducing, to the point verbally abusive to Hiccup up until the end of the 1st movie?? If we follow the timeline of the franchise, Thawfest is only a couple months after The Red Death. IT'S NOT LIKE STOICK HAD BEEN A GREAT PARENT FOR LONG!!

Again, I HATE Spitelout, but why would it be ok for Snotlout to be overly annoying about winning, but not Hiccup?

ALSO; Hiccup even tried to be polite with Snotlout by saying good luck and such, BUT SNOTLOUT DIDN'T EVEN ACCEPT IT.

So I was rewatching the HTTYD movies and this just reminded why I don't like the ending of HTTYD3 and I need to get it out of my system.

Ima rant here and im sorry if it doesnt make sense.

In HTTYD1, the plot was hiccup wanting to fit in with the vikings, only to end up a dragon rider, instead of a dragon killer. Toothless was also said to be a rare species. The whole dynamic of the movie revolved about the connection of Toothless and Hiccup. This made us love the connection the pair has. In HTTYD2, we learn that toothless was the last of his kind (said by Valka). I reckon this could be interpreted as he's the last NIGHT fury or he's the remaining fury dragon, but we didn't know of a light fury in HTTYD2, which makes the latter more convincing, all while fueling the connection Hiccup and Toothless have But in HTTYD3, everything they built suddenly falls apart because wdym you're sending the dragons away? Like please, I know Hiccup literally said the world is not ready yet, but berk IS. The people of Berk are ready for dragons and all. Why not have the connection last? There's almost no disadvantages on keeping it. Besides, I'm sure there's a lot of dragons that would prefer living with the vikings Instead inside of the cave, then toothless just commands "lets go to the hidden world" and everyone just rolls with it?

I mean come on why didn't they just move near the hidden world entrance and protect them from there? They were already doing that in 2 movies with threats larger than grimmel.

Besides I can see hiccup totally going crazy for the light fury and just coddling her more than toothless that it makes toothless mad jealous.

if httyd3 ended with a very aged hiccup at his last days with toothless it would transmit these supposed "letting go" and "growing up" messages much more simply but also deeper emotionally, also being more "natural" and "realistic" (they love using these words smh) without needing to defeat the main point of the previous movies. honestly there's many ways they could have developed the movie with this theme in mind they just chose to do it the laziest and most forced way

AGREE... Httyd3 tried to end like the books but failed spectacularly cause it couldn't even replicate the bases of their "separation". The reasons, motives and emotional weight are nowhere NEAR close. Hiccup reminiscing about his past and being actually old brings so much more weight and emotion... :/

Like I mentioned here -the themes of the books and the themes of the movies are completely different and the letting go at the end of the BOOKS is resolved in such a vastly unconnected way to the movies because it was worked through a long time. And the reason it happened made so much more sense.

I have no issue with separation but it has to have actual build up and meaning. Like an actual tragedy is made. Cause the HTTYD books technically END in tragedy. The dragons DO leave for good and it's a sad bittersweet ending. But it makes SENSE, the way it happens makes sense. Toothless didn't even leave Hiccup, he stayed with him for YEARS... it's done much more organically :'V

In the third movie it seemed so shoehorned in at the last minute cause they wanted tearjerkers and the "separating your protagonists" was trendy in those years...
