AT THE ALTER // A stunning alter is always a massive plus in my book, but you want to know what is even more critical than an alter dressed to the nines? Making sure you and your love are standing centered at the altar. It sounds like it’s not that big of a deal, and it often never gets thought about, but I’m telling you, as a photographer, I’ve seen many picture-perfect ceremonies get thrown off by the couple standing way too far to one side or another. Of course, as you walk down the aisle to promise forever to the love of your life, standing center will be the furthest thing from your mind. So what’s the fix? It’s simple, during your rehearsal, take a moment to mark your spot. Use a small rock, tape, coin, or whatever is on hand. Then on the big day, you will already have a mark. INTENTION // To say they don't make things like they used to would be hitting the nail on the head. Take Architecture, for example. Today's modern architecture is efficient and streamlined but lacks heart. The small details are glossed over, and more significant big-picture projects take president, and there's nothing wrong with that. I prefer old buildings or homes that someone built by hand and filled with details and intention. It has so much more value than a brand-new kit home. It has heart. The same is true with photography. Sure, you can find a photographer that takes a thousand photos per second, but to what end? Without intention, the art form is all but lost. That's one of the things I love so much about the film. Having only 16 frames per roll forces the photographer to slow down and shoot with intention, and with intention and heart, true works of art are created.
