The Games We Play: Mancala
Mancala (or Ayò) is one of the oldest board games, dating back to 4th century AD in Egypt. Over the years, the game has gained many variants played across 99 countries. The most popularly played in Africa include Bao (Kenya), Oware (Ghana), Omweso (Uganda), Tchouba (Mozambique) and En Gehé (Tanzania). Tchouba and En Gehé are the largest forms of the game.
