lowkey I knew about Elio way more than a lot of other big movies happening (zootopia 2, live action L&S, honestly live action httyd prob, stuff like that) I had been super excited for it for weeks and was awaiting its release I was so excited to see it in theaters literally
huge shoutout to everyone who has watched pixar’s elio in theaters in spite of the lack of marketing, y’all are the real ones out there ♡

If I see one more person complaining and blaming the downfall of Elio for it's artstyle being similar to like, four previous movies and a show as if there hasn't been DECADES of princesses that look similar in the same way, I'm gonna bash my head into the wall. Violently.

literally lmaooo also bc his plan literally did work , his plan was he won't attack if they give his son back. so like. if they stuck to the og plan and didn't do the clone swap it would have worked perfectly. that's just so funny to me
anyway my favorite part of elio was when a 9yo decided to solve a political crisis by taking a hostage and it worked. only for like 20 minutes but it did work

aughhhh I love this
was kinda pondering the scene where people started calling in from all around the world to help elio and olga fly through the debris and how it really really got to me emotionally and I think it has to do with the way it just drastically increases the scope of the movie’s message. obviously a huge part of the film is elio realizing he’s not alone on a personal level (he has glordon, olga loves and wants him, etc) but this moment really hammers home that No One Is Alone because there is a whole world of wonderful people out there that you can and will meet if you just let yourself find them. so yeah many tears were cried

i don't know how to explain how i really like this. just. the vibe and the art style and the colors of the second picture wow. and the words look alive sunshine fuel me with scenarios and writing inspiration and things.
how i long for a world where I ran away and joined a little ragtag group of mismatched weirdos and created a found family living out in some beat up warehouse or something, stealing and running from the police and always laughing together and smacking sense into each other but caring so deeply too

super random thing. but. I really want to know more about, like, the world, I guess? Kind of??
I know so little about the world other than what I see in, like, Carmen Sandiego or some shit, or what I learn in school, or from social medias. I really learn so little about the world in school, though, and I'm left so ignorant. And I know more than a lot of people around me too! And I don't know anything! I want to know more, things like this, just learn more about the world. I guess it's not exactly geography but just I want to know what the different places are like, even just vaguely.
I was looking at this map the other day, one where you hover and see the country name and some stat stuff yknow. And like, looking at an interactable map instead of a globe (because I do have two of those too but) it just hits different. Like, I just started thinking, and was looking at all the different countries, and seeing how tiny some are, but how giant others are too. And noticing little things. And wondering about some. There are so many countries that I know the name of, vaguely, and that's it. And, like, real people live there! Lots of people! There's people here on tumblr that are interreacting with things I like, who doomscroll like me, who log off and go to their real life in a place I know nothing about except the name of the country. Like. that's just kind of wild I guess.
if you want to keep reading I'm just rambling I know, but my main point is that I (but also like s0 many people wtf) don't know a lot about different places, but I'd like to. so if anyone wants to tell me anything, I'd love that! Little daily routines or unique things about your country/city/state, or maybe if you just know some things about a place that's less commonly recognized that's cool too! I'd just really like to know more about places that aren't really shown in media as often or isn't talked about as often. Even well-known places, though, like a lot of people only know France by Paris and that's all yknow? So really anything anyone wants to say lol, I'm all for it. let me know any tags I could add to this to make it more accurate or spread too haha because I have no idea.
So I was talking to someone about it later and we were just like talking about how many entire countries we know nothing about, the places our knowledge slims at, stuff like that. I mentioned that I didn't even know North and South America were connected! Like, I knew that central america connected them and stuff dw, but I thought that central america split up some, like that there was at least a little water and they just had really big, really close islands. I didn't know it was actually all super connected. I said something like "like, wow, you could just. walk there. like technically. you could walk from the top of Canada to the bottom of Argentina. that's wild" and he told me about how the reason we don't though is because there's a dense, miles long rainforest in between filled with gangs and cartels. I was like whAt?? I didn't know that either?? like at all. The things we learn in school dude.
One time, my best friend was telling me about El Salvador's history. About how the gang violence was so severe and the government issues, but how lately things have changed drastically and the gang situations are getting better, good enough that his parents might move back. I didn't know anything about El Salvador at all. Never knew there was any gang problems, at least not like that.
Every crazy thing I've seen about Australia... yeah. Giant spiders, spiders in the sky, tons of snakes, snakes coming out of toilets, videos and videos about crazy bug or animal things that are just normal there 😭 Although, I did learn about the history of Australia from someone the other day, so that is interesting too.
I really like language learning (though I do not know any, I hope to) stuff and things like that. I joined this website once where you can talk to different people yknow, people learning languages too. There were a lot of Russian people on there, when I was anyway. So I ended up talking to a bunch of different Russian people. I do want to learn Russian, though I never made it very far. And I knew nothing about it other than stereotypes. Nothing real. I knew it was really cold, sometimes really dark (?) (is it one of those places that has months of day months of night??? or just longer nights?? I don't know). I knew about Yurio from Yuri on Ice, I knew about the antagonists in Stranger Things. I still don't know much more, but definitely better knowledge haha. You know what was crazy sad to me though- a couple people I talked to on that site were surprised I was nice. They said that a lot of times people were rude or hateful to them immediately, just because they're Russian. Like, those random every day people aren't the same as the entire country and government, but they were treated like they represented it all?? That was just really sad. And it happens all the time, in so many places or ways! Anyway though, these people told me a little bit about their lives and things, and it made me happy to be able to learn more than just the stereotypes. And like, what every day common life is like! I think that stuff is really interesting and important to know. Obviously Russia specifically is giant though so a few people's experience isn't everything, but I learned more than before, and that was nice.
One of my friends that I've known for years by now lives in India. She's slowly told me more about what it's like, sends me pictures, and I've gotten tidbits of history too. Like, wayy more people speak English there than I thought! She was showing me a picture of books and they were all in English and books I also see, and I was just a little surprised. She was telling me the history behind that and it was just really cool to learn, I had no idea. And it's interesting seeing pictures of buildings and how even architecture is different in different regions of the world. And I found out that there are often peacocks, just roaming around!!! I never knew that either. Something common to her but wild and cool to me. I like those little things, learning the common things yknow.
I suppose my point from all this rambling (thanks, if you've made it this far!) is that it's so interesting to know more. And it's crazy that we don't learn much of it! Maybe it's just my area, and everyone else knows all the things haha, but there's just so MUCH that I don't know. And that's sad. There are lots of places full of people that go on the same online social medias I do, read the same books and love the same shows, and some I even talk to or we all comment on the same thing, and then we go and live wildly different lives. our houses look different, our schools teach different, the animals we see in the morning are different, our routines and meals and snacks and family dynamics and the everyday sounds outside are all different. but we all commented on the same thing and we really aren't that different.
I've always known there's drastic differences in the world, learning about cultures and third world vs first world countries stuff. but I'd like to know more about every day things. more than the wars, more than the founding of the countries, more than the ways they've interacted with mine therefore approved for history class, more than the terrible things some countries have done decades ago. i want to know what the routine and life is like to the people that doomscroll the same videos I do, or the animals they see. But I guess wild things too, like the Darién Gap that I learned about, that was super interesting that I didn't know. Ending my rambling here haha, if anyone wants to share anything, please do ! I'd love to learn more .

Shadowsan: That is what we call a traumatizing experience.
Shadowsan, turning to Zack and Ivy: Not a "bruh moment."
Shadowsan, turning to Carmen: Not an "it is what it is."
Shadowsan, turning to Player: And certainly not an "OOF lmao."
