well howdy hey y'all,
i lost access to my tumblr for three years {THREE YEARS} and am just now gettin back in here and looking around.
a lot of people seem to really like the posts i made about my witchcraft practice before I disappeared, particularly the one on things that helped me as a baby witch.
In that vein, I wanted to give y'all an update and say that i am now an herbalist (synonymous with green witch, in my opinion) and i make lots of cool stuff and give away health remedies for mutual aid and grow lots of plants and have a lot of fun :)
i also make a podcast and teach classes and write blog posts about herbalism. if you are into green witchery, you might like to read my blog or check out my Patreon.
anyways, just wanted to say HI! it's been so long! happy to finally be able to get back on here. i don't know how much i will update this account but tumblr honestly was a big jumping-off point in terms of getting start in the realm of herbalism, and i would like to spend some time contributing back to the community on here because i am so grateful for that.
anyways, hope y'all are doin good.
love and solidarity xx

My IRL friend Laura Meilman is an awesome artist, and she has made five drawings of mermaids for the environment.
They’re all for sale as prints over at her Etsy shop, and portions of the proceeds will go to the United Way of Genessee County’s Flint Water Fund, The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and The Nature Conservancy.

The idea that “suffering builds character” is 100% capitalistic propaganda. Telling someone that they are experiencing hardship “for their own good” or their own personal growth is bullshit because it makes it seem like there is morality and purpose behind suffering. People don’t need to be poor, to struggle to put food on the table, or worry whether or not they’re going to have a roof over their head at the end of the week just to become “better” people. You know what else builds character? Surviving. So don’t act like the excess food, water and shelter that we have would be wasted on people who need it just because people working themselves to death is a capitalistic requirement.

currently the farm i’m working on has a bunch of volunteer (meaning we didn’t plant them on purpose) sunflowers blooming all over one of the gardens and i can relate to this very much <3
‘Green fingers’ are a fact, and a mystery only to the unpracticed. But green fingers are the extensions of a verdant heart. A good garden cannot be made by somebody who has not developed the capacity to know and love growing things.

A really common strike tactic in the pre-internet days was form a picket line. Basically, the striking workers would hold up signs explaining their strike and surround their place of work with a line of people all chanting and marching. This not only got the public interested in the strike, but it also physically blocked people from entering the business they were striking against.
When workers strike, businesses sometimes hire “scabs”, or workers willing to step in and replace the strikers to make the strike meaningless. A picket line would mean that even if the business got a full complement of scabs, they would still take a huge hit financially during the strike.
“Never cross a picket line” is something union and other pro-labour parents used to teach their children, and it meant both “never be a scab” and also “never patronize a business currently under strike.”
Amazon will likely hire scabs during a widespread strike to pick up at least some of the slack. But this time, workers can’t use a physical picket line to block access, because Amazon is an online business. But it’s still important to make sure the company isn’t able to bring in a lot of profits during the strike – hence the calls for boycott online.
Amazon knows they need their employees. They just think they can get away with abusing them. The boycott and the strike are not to convince them to think anything, it’s to make it so unprofitable to continue that they have no choice but to concede to the strikers’ demands.

Okay heads up for all Americans eligible to vote:
The Supreme Court just issues a ruling allowing Ohio and other states to purge voters from their election registration rolls due to their failure to cast a ballot in previous elections.
This is a major victory for the Trump administration and the GOP, and a direct consequence of the Supreme Court being stacked with more conservative judges (the votes were 5-4). This is also a huge part of what Trump/the GOP were counting on to save them in the 2018 midterm elections, which is where Democrats have been hoping to take back a majority in the House, giving them more power to combat Trump’s abuses of power and Republican legislation.
What this means is YOU CAN NOT ASSUME THAT YOU ARE REGISTERED for the 2018 elections, just because you SHOULD be. Thanks to this decision, red states can purge voters’ registration based on their not having cast a ballot in even just previous federal elections, NOT just the national Presidential elections. Effectively, if you haven’t voted in previous senate races or for congressional representatives in the past few years, that’s all they need now to say you’re no longer registered and need to register again.
They’re deliberately counting on people assuming they’re still registered and so not checking until after registration deadlines have passed, or showing up to vote this November and only then finding out they’re no longer registered, when its too late to do a damn thing about it.
And this is absolutely targeted at marginalized communities, low income voters, disabled voters, and basically anyone who simply can’t always AFFORD to keep on top of every federal election and show up to vote in every senate race, etc. Which not so coincidentally happen to be all the communities and voters who have the most to gain from Democratic victories in the 2018 midterms and are the least likely to cast votes for GOP candidates at this point.
This was absolutely a calculated effort aimed specifically at keeping the GOP in power with a majority control of the government come November, and unfortunately, it has a DAMN good chance of accomplishing just that if it goes by unacknowledged. I’m not looking to alarm or panic anyone, simply to say:
If you are a registered voter in a red state at this point, please please please do not take your registered status as assumed. Check on your registration status, look up all relevant voter registration deadlines for your state and district, CIRCLE THAT SHIT ON YOUR CALENDAR, and check your registration status AGAIN right before those deadlines pass, so you can be sure of it before its too late to do anything about it til the next voting cycle.

witches weeds - jimsonweed datura stramonium, hemlock conium maculatum, enchanter’s nightshade circaea lutetiana, deadly nightshade atropa belladona, henbane hyoscyamus niger, moonflower datura innoxia, wolsfbane aconitum napellus
i’ve come across the concept of witches weeds a few times in my botanical wanderings, above are a few of my favorites. a word of warning - every plant above except for enchanter’s nightshade are poisonous plants. please do not go foraging for these plants, some of them can even create symptoms just by touching or breathing in near the plant.
