If YA books (like Percy Jackson, the shadow hunters series, and Harry Potter) don’t have people of color as main characters soon I’m gonna flip shit.
People of color should not be reduced to side characters in so much YA fantasy! As a white woman, I have so many characters I could relate to physically. I do not suffer from the oppression of the black community, but I do my best to be aware and helpful of the situation.

The Harry Potter series (though amazing) has many flaws and I’m gonna rant about it.
- People of color are reduced to background characters.
- The houses are in no way fair, and completely based off of stereotypes.
- Percy Weasley would have been a Slytherin.
- Cho Chang. That’s the best name she could come up with?
- Crookshanks is a mood and saved the day. He should have more book time.
- Doesn’t focus enough on the problems or the solutions with the discriminatory ideas of the villains.

Charlotte and Henry Branwell remind me of Molly and Aurther Weasley. First of all, Henry is a ginger. It just makes me think of what the Weasley parents early marriage must have been like. Jessamine would be Percy, and Will would be the troublemaker just like Fred and George. Jem is Charlie, and Church is his version of dragons.
