Why you should listen to Steve Lacy
Steve Lacy was born in Compton, California, and is a rising producer, singer, and songwriter. His first brush with fame was at 16 years old when he co-produced the grammy-nominated album "Ego Death" with the band "The Internet". Steve Lacy is a highly talented producer and musician. All of his song lyrics are catchy and are accompanied by funky and straightforward beats; when combined, the listener is compelled to sing and dance along to the music. Steve Lacy frequently sings about love. His lyrics reflect his chase for love and how he wants to be fulfilled. Love songs resonate with people because when they hear the lyrics and sultry beat, they think about their chasing or the person they love. Sexuality is something not many artists will touch on, but Steve is not afraid to sing about his bisexuality and the struggles and stress that came with that. His lyrics about being afraid to come out resonate with LGBT youth everywhere who fear being ostracized. He produces all of his music on his iPhone (including the Grammy-nominated album). After the nominated Steve Went on to produce his first EP, "Steve Lacy's Demo." A collection of six short songs with catchy hooks and smooth beats. The simplicity he creates in his music he refers to as "The Bare maximum." The Bare Maximum, according to Steve, is the highest possible outcome with the least amount of resources. Steve was able to achieve so much through his use of sound with few resources. Love songs and songs about sex have always been popular with people. These are some of the most fundamental topics people care about. Steve's songs invoke this feeling of love and sex in a laid-back way. Because these love songs are less intense, it does not feel similar to inappropriate sexual songs, and it feels more comparable to a story that Steve is singing to us. Many people resonate with Steve's music because he is not afraid to sing about LGBT struggles. Steve has several songs where he sings about his fears of coming out and his family and friends not accepting him. Several people everywhere deal with the same type of anxieties and fears about their sexuality. For example, in his song Like Me: "I hope you can relate. If you cannot right now. You might be a little late, or you might never get it down". Lyrics about how hard it was for him to come out and tell his audience that he hopes it will be easy for them. Personally, through several of steve lacy's songs about acceptance and its ok to be who you are, it made me feel more comfortable coming out to my own family.
