idk if this is what you mean, but imagine like. a leafy dragon. and it changes colors throughout the seasons because. leaves (which also means it would be excellent at camouflage and possibly loose some “leaves” during colder seasons)

Zuko finding out about the gaang's shenanigans and vice versa part 2
~
Zuko: Sokka I still can't believe master Piandao trained you. Did you get to make your own sword as well?
Sokka: yes I did! At first I was scared it wouldn't work, but I'm glad he allowed me to use the meteorite for it!
Zuko: ... i'm sorry did you say meteorite?
~
Toph: it was such a coincidence running into your uncle in ba sing se.
Zuko: yea, it was very weird for him being back, y'know, since he kinda laid a 100 day seige on the city a few years prior
Toph, who hadn't connected the two dots until now: ... THE DRAGON OF THE WEST??
~
Aang: Katara... you sound like Jet
Zuko, who definitely knows a guy named Jet:
Katara: this is different. Jet attacked the innocent.
Zuko, now suspecting they were talking about the same Jet:
~
Zuko: how did toph even end up becoming a pro wrestler?
Aang: she did it to escape from her oppressive parents
Zuko: oh, that sucks
Aang: yeah, those beifongs sure were strict with her
Zuko, who probably has knowledge of the aristocracy in the other nations: THE BEIFONGS???

u guys know theres other movies and books than hp right. like you dont need to and cannot "find ways to read/watch hp without supporting jkr". unless youre literally doing literary research, engaging with it knowing about jkrs shittiness is a form of support. fucking read something else

I grew up with a grandma who quilted, but she’d never been interested in passing along the hobby, so when she finally kicked it I was the grandkid who got all her materials, ‘cause I was the only one who knew how to use a sewing machine. Then, in 2015, a friend had a baby and I figured I’d make her a quilt, ‘cause how hard could it be?
oh
my
god
Luckily I am the stubbornest human alive, ‘cause I never woulda finished otherwise. I didn’t know what I was doing, didn’t know the terms to look up how to do anything, I musta reinvented the wheel like eight times and it took ten months, BUT I DID IT.
Figured I’d suffered enough and would never do it again and now I’m on quilt #9 smdh
————————–
I’m hyperventilating.
Holy shit. Holy SHIT.
This is INCREDIBLE.
Oh my god.
I’ve gotta go lay down holy shit look at this how do we just walk by other human beings every day and live our separate lives when there’s a person sitting next to you on the train or in line for coffee who goes home and makes things like this what even IS being human holy shit.
GOOD FUCKING JOB.

a few sci fi/fantasy books written by poc authors featuring poc characters
y’know, to read and hype instead of supporting joanne’s racist ass
the sequel to this post
we hunt the flame by hafsah faizal
inspired by ancient arabia
author is of sri lankan and arab descent, as well as muslim
the main cast is completely poc
the writing is kinda dense but it’s absolutely gorgeous
the setting is amazing
male protagonist drinks his Respect Women Juice
wicked fox by kat cho
urban fantasy set in south korea + lots of korean culture
characters are all korean
inspired by korean mythology
its only faults are the miscommunication trope and iffy prose
other than that—highly recommend
made me want to go back to korea
warcross by marie lu
asian protagonist + love interest
set primarily in japan (if i remember correctly)
diverse supporting cast (queer rep, poc rep, disabled rep)
fantastic action sequences
you like video games? read this (i don’t like video games and i still loved it)
fast-paced, easy to digest, really good overall
books i haven’t read yet but have heard great things about and will be getting to eventually:
children of blood and bone by tomi adeyemi
the firekeeper’s daughter by angeline boulley
iron widow by xiran jay zhao
please leave your own recs in the reblogs/comments/whatever !! i love hearing other peoples’ thoughts on books and i need more shit to read for next year so hit me with them
