yknow theres a lot of pressure to be successful, particularly on artsy kids whose professions are seen as useless unless theyre famous, but life is fucking hard and sometimes things dont turn out
but i think thats not bad. my dad has wanted to be a musician forever, and hes rly pretty good. but then he joined the military to get away from an abusive family, and then he got married, and then he got divorced, and a lot of horrible shit HAPPENED. he has ptsd and severe anxiety and he could never really get back on the horse. and he never made it as a musician, and now hes 53
but i grew up in a house full of instruments, and he can play all of them, and some of my earliest memories are of him playing guitar on the front porch and me thinking there wasnt a better musician in the world. so. even if you dont get to the stars, exactly, what you do isnt worthless. its not a waste of time if life is difficult and you cant make it, or if you arent famous, or if your work doesn’t influence thousands of people. it will influence someone
there are a million ways to be happy and a million ways to be a successful artist. we create what we do to enhance the human experience and relate to each other and improve ourselves. theres something to be said for just doing that,,,for the sake of doing it, yknow

BNHA ch. 252
(Manga Spoilers Ahead)
Yes, yes we are all choked up with feels about Endeavour and Natsuo
and, frustrated to heck with Katsuki witholding his name....(God, who is going to tell him that the first person he wants to divulge his Hero Name to, (Best Jeanist) was last seen in a fucking body bag??!)
...but I'd like to ramble about this one page that I absolutely LOVED.
Tumblr media
I love everything about this page. Everything.
From how darkened Enji's face is, to the shock on Natsuo's. And in the very next panel is Shouto who is clearly awed by those words.
And
The NEXT PANEL is Bakugou -fucking- Katsuki, who is turning away from Endeavour and Natsuo, NOT IZUKU. Izuku comes AFTER Kacchan.
Why?
Now, normally in a manga the panels move in the way a normal camera does while panning across a live set- so as not to disrupt the moving quality of a manga (or any comic for that matter). Therefore, the way the panels should have appeared- while panning away from Endeavour and Natsuo scene should be in this order: Katsuki (closest to Endeavour), Shouto (second closest), Izuku (furthest away).
But it's not necessary that the camera always has to follow such a sequence of closest to furthest.
There are a few expections - like when the 'camera' focuses on different people to catch their reactions. It is in these places that the 'director'can take initiative and add extra depth to the narrative.
In this case, the camera should move from those who should have the most reaction to this given scene to the ones with least reaction.
Thus the sequence should be:
Shouto (who is directly implicated in Todoroki affairs and is taken aback by Enji's words)
Izuku (who was the person who said the exact same thing as Enji did to Natsuo. In the previous chapter, He said that Shouto doesn't have to forgive Enji, but it seems like Shouto is waiting to forgive him)
Katsuki, who is at best a distant observer of this family drama.
However, You will notice that NEITHER of these sequences are followed although the second sequence is MOST LIKELY.
Which IMPLIES that Katsuki had a BIGGER REACTION than Izuku when Endeavour says "It's Alright If you Never Forgive Me"
Throughout this arc, we have seen very many examples of Katsuki vehemently denying physical contact and jealously protecting his personal space.
He is shown edging away from Izuku and Shouto in the 'small ass car of the No. 1 Hero' while literally poking his head out of it. He consistently bats off Toshinori's head pat as well as Mitsuki's. He is thoroughly disturbed when a family drama erupts right in middle of a family dinner.
Bakugou Katsuki is a person who deeply values personal space and it's sanctity and it's reflected most clearly in the fact that his dorm room was one of the few that was left out from the Dorm Interior Design competition. He inherently respects other's personal spaces as well. We can venture to say that maybe he is even afraid of someone breaching his space or vice versa.
So what is Katsuki's normal reaction when personal spaces brush sides?
Katsuki turns away.
Which is exactly what he is doing here.
When Enji says, "It's Alright If You Never Forgive Me"- To Katsuki, It is like a breach of personal space. Those words are brushing too close to his own thoughts and feelings (That Deku doesn't have to forgive him, ever) Thus, His reaction is more significant and second only to Shouto and not Izuku, because He is a Parallel To Enji.
So let's look at the sequence again. Reaction wise:
Shouto > Katsuki > Izuku.
Now if you'll notice the persepctive of the Interns is also something that is odd. It could be artist's license of course - but if you look deeper you can find something really clever:
As said before, the actual distance between Katsuki and Enji is the shortest among the three interns. Yet he is drawn with the furthest perspective.
Shouto's perspective is closer because he is directly related to this.
Izuku's perspective is midway, and observant - and ideally as an observer his perspective is supposed to be the furthest but it's not.
It's because he is the bridge between the perspectives of 'Katsuki' and 'Shouto'
'Shouto' who is 'waiting to forgive'
and
'Katsuki' who is in parallel to Enji's - 'it's alright if you never forgive me'
And putting Izuku perspective wise between them is GENIUS - because it implies that Izuku has already moved past the point of simply 'waiting to forgive' and closer to/already-at the point of completely forgiving Katsuki (if he hasn't already.)

Note
If your story has different points of view, is it annoying to switch between them in a single chapter? Thank you!
I do that all the time, so I hope not! lol
seriously, though - as long as the switches are clear and don’t cause confusion you should be fine. I find it helps to use the horizonal rule in between viewpoints to show the flip in perspective.
Note: don’t use stylistic breaks between viewpoints (or scenes) like a series of asterisks or tildes etc. If someone is using a screen reader, it will read out each symbol that you use. Also using indicators like “Character A’s POV” tend to break up the story and take people out the narrative. Or at least they do for me.

Ideologies of the three Lords
(spoilers for all routes)
I’ve heard some talk about ideologies and people not being sure who believes in what, so I wanted to do a little breakdown on the ideologies of the main lords based on 1) what their goals are and 2) what they’re willing to do to achieve them. The reason I emphasize the second is because methodology is an essential part of ideology, especially with these three. A methodology is an ideological decision on what can be sacrificed and what can’t for the sake of an end goal.
Short version:
Edelgard: Equality through force. Priority is eliminating influence of Crests and the Church.
*I use “force” instead of “revolution” because revolution comes from within, which only covers her actions in Adrestia. Force, specifically military force, is required for her plans for the rest of Fódlan. See below for more.
Dimitri: Equality through reform. Priority is eliminating racial inequality and avoiding violent conflict.
Claude: Equality through diplomacy. Priority is unification and eradicating racial inequality.
In all, the Lords all have similar goals. Edelgard and Dimitri both agree that Crests are a problem. Dimitri and Claude both want to stop racial inequality. Edelgard and Claude both think the Church is a negative influence. While their main focuses are different, they have, for the most part, identified the same problems with Fódlan’s society and feel these need to be changed. Where they really distinguish themselves is in how they think change should be conducted.
Further, no Lord is explicitly what we’d identify as “left”- or “right”-wing in a contemporary framework. For example, all of them want equality, but how a person might define “equality” varies dramatically depending on your beliefs. Equality under Liberalism looks very different from equality under Communism, and we generally don’t get the kind of information that would clarify what their positions are in these frames.
NOTE: I like all of the Lords a lot. Like anyone, I have a favorite and my own opinions about their ideologies, but I love every Lord, am sympathetic to their perspectives, and tried very hard to be evenhanded in my descriptions of their points of view. This is not meant to hate on any of them. Please don’t be nasty about them here.

A list of the hanzi, pinyin, and their meanings for each character and their personal weapons, if applicable. I crosschecked with a character list on baidu, so they should all be there; let me know if I missed anyone, or if there is an error (especially the pinyin…I relied on a dictionary for these). I’ve left out a few things that would be spoilers or characters that haven’t been mentioned yet (mainly from the Wen clan, there are a few that aren’t listed here).
I don’t know much Chinese, so the meanings are drawn directly from the character list provided by the fan translators (ExR) or from an online dictionary (marked with an asterisk *).
Also: I apologize for the long post! It doesn’t matter on mobile, but the third tone represented by the little caron, or wedge, above the vowel doesn’t look good on my theme. I’ve kept it without a read more so you can view it in the dash instead.
Edits: Thanks goes to extrapenguin who pointed out these things for me to add in!

Quick intro to Moxiang Tongxiu’s Danmei novels
Most of you should’ve already known about Mo Dao Zu Shi. Let me just get this straight: No words can express how much I adore this novel. Moxiang Tongxiu’s writing style and character designs hit me right in the feels. If you are just like me, you love Mo Dao Zu Shi and you want to explore her other works, here is a quick intro :)
In order of publication, presenting you:
1. 人渣反派自救系统 / The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System
Tumblr media
Synopsys (taken & modified from NovelUpdates):
Shen Yuan is reborn into a scum villain in a typical harem novel. His character is Lord Shen Qingqiu.
But it must be known that the original Shen Qingqiu was sliced alive by his disciple and also the protagonist, Luo Binghe, into a human stick! A human stick!
Then, why, as a scum villain, should he still have to take the bullet for the protagonist and sacrifice himself?
Simply because he wants to save his own ass and prove that even scum villains can live, and live coolly at that!
But incidentally, in the mid of trying to save his ass, Shen Qingqiu made his disciple Luo Binghe fall for him, and fall for him really hard…
This is the story of a master and disciple’s unknowing, strange and cheesy process of falling in love.
It’s also a scum villain’s firsthand account of the male protagonist turning from a small white sheep into an overbearing Demon king…
Length: 81 chapters + 14 extras
Translating group: Cnovel
Personal review:
- Breaks all the 4th walls you can ever imagine.
- Intensively hurts your stomach. It will.
- Angsty yet hilarious love story of a crybaby disciple and a thick-skinned, sarcastic master. Also really cute supporting characters.
- Rather simple, easy to follow plot.
- An excellent starting point into System-based fantasy novel (what is System? Read to find out!).
.
2. 魔道祖师 / Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation
Tumblr media
Synopsys (for the benefits of those who haven’t yet known about this masterpiece) (taken from NovelUpdates):
“As the grandmaster who founded demonic cultivation, Wei WuXian roamed the world in his wanton ways, hated by millions for the chaos he created. In the end, he was backstabbed by his dearest shidi and killed by powerful clans that combined to overpower him.
He incarnates into the body of a lunatic who was abandoned by his clan and is later, unwillingly, taken away by a famous cultivator among the sects—Lan WangJi, his archenemy.
This marks the start of a thrilling yet hilarious journey of attacking monsters, solving mysteries, and raising children. From the mutual flirtation along the way, Wei WuXian slowly realizes that Lan WangJi, a seemingly haughty and indifferent poker-face, holds more feelings for Wei WuXian than he is letting on…”
Length: 113 chapters + 13 extras
Translating group: Exiled Rebels Scanlations
Personal review:
- I FREAKIN’ LOVE THIS.
- Epic story spanning across northern ancient China, involving taking down monsters, killing zombies, hunting ghosts, solving murder cases, training teenage cultivators, raising children (okay, maybe not that…) and so much more.
- Slowburn romance that is just perfect because it is, yes, so slowburn. And have I talked about how much I love the couple?
- Prepare tissues because it’s so gonna hurt.
- Excellent cast of supporting characters. (Jiang Cheng I love youuuuuu)
- The sheer amount of ambition from the author. She smoothly blends so many issues including politics, the grey area of morality, redemption, hatred and forgiveness into a beautiful romantic tale.
- What are you doing?!!! Just drop whatever you are doing and read this!!!
.
3. 天官赐福 / Heaven Official’s Blessing
Tumblr media
Synopsys (taken from NovelUpdates)
“Eight hundred years ago, Xie Lian was the Crown Prince of the Xian Le kingdom; one who was beloved by his citizens and the darling of the world. Unsurprisingly, he ascended to the Heavens at a very young age.
Now, eight hundred years later, Xie Lian ascends to the Heavens for the third time as the laughing stock of all three realms. On his first task as a god, he meets a mysterious demon who rules the ghosts and terrifies the Heavens… Yet unbeknownst to Xie Lian, this demon king has been paying attention to him for a very, very long time.”
Length: 244 chapters + 4 extras
Translating group: Sakhyulations
Personal review:
- Even more epic than Mo Dao Zu Shi in terms of scale. Spanning across 3 realms - the Heaven, the Human World and the Underworld.
- Splendid blend of humour, mystery, war drama and, beware, so much angst.
- A love story that took 800 years to unfold. 800 YEARS!!! Their love is so pure it will strike the deepest cord in your heart. Ragpicker Crown Prince Heavenly God uke (yes, you read that right) x Extremely Loyal Thick-skinned Demon King seme. What a combo.
- Also with those 800 years, you follow Xie Lian’s journey through the most remarkable ups and downs. What he goes through in 800 years is a humbling tale of a person who has probably seen it all. Make sure you embrace yourself for this. It really is going to hurt.
- Even the supporting cast have really solid backstories. And most of them are truly adorable. Basically all of her works have great supporting cast lol.
.
Some fantastic additional information I thought I should also share:
- The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System: A donghua adaptation has been confirmed and production will probaby start next year.
- Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: As I have always screamed about, there’s a manhua, an upcoming donghua, an upcoming live-action series, and an audio drama. And a game adaptation has been confirmed!
- Heaven Official’s Blessing: A donghua adaptation and a live-action series adaptation have been signed! Looking forward to more news in the near future.
(You probably start wondering how much money the author makes… yes, I wonder that too…)
(and rumour has it that Moxiang Tongxiu ie the author just barely graduated college (!!!) )
In any case, with the info above, I hope you have something good to read and to look forward to. Come to this Moxiang Tongxiu’s abyss, fangirl and scream with me please!!!
