#Repost @durgajasraj (@get_repost) ・・・ Today 7th June 2020, in episode #75 of our daily show "Utsaah" #spreadinghappiness we are delighted to present Dhrupad Gayaki with Maestro Pt. Umakant Gundecha and Rising Star Anant Ramakant Gundecha, along with Pakhawaj Maestro Pt. Akhilesh Gundecha... When you hear the name Gundecha, immediately you can hear the aalap or the nom-tom of the Dhrupad shaili... Gundecha the name oozes surilapan too... Gundecha Brothers as they were known, Pt. Umakant and Pt. Ramakant Gundecha not just complimented each other's music but together, they created a musical universe which made Dhrupad's sound extremely attractive! They learnt the Dagarbani, but soon their creative (this aspect is many times misunderstood as rebellious) minds led them to present Dhrupad in a contemporary manner without diluting the authenticity of the genre... At times when they sang in different swars, it made the sound modern. They began to compose poetries written by Tulsidas, Kabir, Nirala, and many others... These kind of creative and much needed contributions helped them to make Dhrupad even more popular across the world... Together, they were a musical whole. Unfortunately in November 2019, a few days before our annual 8 Prahar concert, our dearest Maestro Pt. Ramakant ji left us, creating a void. They were scheduled to perform for us at 8 Prahar - I was restless, wanted them to be with us... How can Ramakant ji leave us he had committed to me! I just decided to keep the schedule as is and went up on stage and said that Gundechas had committed and they stay committed to perform for us today. There was silence, and we had lined up their televised performance on Idea Jalsa from our library and played it on the screens in Shanmukhananda Hall for the audience gathered there. Everyone got overwhelmed and gave Pt. Ramakant ji an emotional adieu, with a standing ovation... That is the least we could do - bid a dignified farewell to such a great Maestro of our times. And his legacy lives on... Anant is singing along with his Tau (uncle) Pt. Umakant ji, and I am excited to hear him... This is a new chapter of the melodious legacy of the Gundechas... https://www.instagram.com/p/CBIuqNeJcio/?igshid=1v5myms9gma9f

An incident, which took place a long time ago, touched my soul and has forever remained in my mind. One evening, one of my friends came to my house to play with me. I was happy to meet her. We went up to my room and started playing with my most favourite doll. While we were playing , she broke my doll. On seeing that, I started crying. My mother ran up to my room and instead of scolding her ( which I expected her to do), said, "No worries. Whatever happens, happens for the good". Really ??? Trust me, till date I haven't understood what was so good about that.. Now, this is a common phrase that is randomly thrown around in a hopeless situation. When we are happy we boast " See!! Whatever happens happens for good" ..When we are sad or upset " don't lose your heart, everything happens for good" But is that really right or is it our ego that we makes us hesitate to face the reality that "things go wrong" or is it beacuse of our love for being sympathetic to the situation all the time.. Coming back to the incident mentioned above the reason I still remember this is because that day was the 1st time , when I realised that we need to be good to people all the time even if they have done something wrong... It's for the sake of universal good. Now you must be thinking, what is there to write a blog about this?? But just think if I rephrase this and say " whatever has happened it's not good but let's try and see if we can fix this" .. do you feel the difference ?? Something pleasing to your ears, right?? All I am trying to highlight is that , when I am already feeling bad or I am hurt, if you say " I know you are feeling terrible , we can understand. Can we do something to make you feel better?" I will be more eager to share my thoughts and will be more open to hearing your suggestion to make things better. There will be a new start towards the new beginning which is full of possisbilities at that very moment... The most important thing is I will share my thoughts and feel lighter.. Most of the time because of our hyper positive mindset( that's what is fed into our minds since birth)we set too high standards for ourselves unknowingly. But let's just take a minute and think sometimes being negative also helps right?? Like in today's time and day when the whole world is fighting against this pandemic, if we think, "Everything that has happened ,happens for the best"... We must be kidding, right? Because there is nothing actually right about it. Now coming back to me and my life. This phrase has always been an integral part of my life.. " Right from being born in a joint family and then suffering heartbreak alone (please don't feel I want sympathy, it's just to set the context right), this phrase has been constant in my life.. and now when my thoughts are clearer ( well, here the catch is I am trying to be polite to myself and not saying that I am growing old), I strongly feel that it would have made little difference in my life, if someone would have told me " I know whatever happened is really bad and you have every right to feel miserable.. Cry , yell ,shout, vent ,do whatever but let that feeling be out of your system. Take your time to heal..it's ok not to be positive all the time.IT'S REALLY OK". That would have made me feel better at that very point. It would have made me learn that it's ok to make mistakes and learning from them and moving on is the key... I would have dealt with my thoughts in a much better way, without tearing my mind and soul apart... The question we need to ask is, if everything happens for good all the time, then why do we sometimes feel so bad about it???

#Repost @durgajasraj (@get_repost) ・・・ Today 25th May 2020, in episode #62 of our daily show "Utsaah" #spreadinghappiness we are happy to present the young maestro of Harmonium Milind Kulkarni... Harmonium, is an instrument without which much can not happen in Hindustani Classical Music especially it is irreplaceable in a Vocal performance or even in a Tabla Solo it is the most common accompanying instrument... The beauty is Harmonium did not originate from India... It was created in Europe in completely different avtaar and since then there is a trail of its evolution from all different parts of the world... That is a testimony of it how it captured the musical minds instantly. Nobody can even imagine Marathi musical plays performed by even great Bal Gandharva without - Paya-Peti! Paya Peti was also know as Organ all these loose terms or in the real sense colloquial words were used because the popularity of the instrument grew faster... People hardly dive into history... Harmonium is a force to reckon with. Even though we can keep writing about how Harmonium has found a permanent place in Hindustani Classical, Semi Classical, Light Classical or many others it is a rare occassion to get to hear a Harmonium solo! And here Utsaah being Utsaah we thought this is the right occasion to bring forth a rare talent from Sangli in Maharashtra. Young Maestro Milind Kulkarni... Milind is extremely talented and is in demand with almost all great vocalists who find his aesthetics and sensibilities in tune with theirs... Milind is a student of Great Harmonium Maestro Pramod Marathe.... His keen and curious mind brought him also close to Tabla legend Pt. Suresh Talwalkar ji from whom he learnt a lot which he has tried to implement it in his playing... His quest for knowledge has continued and he is now also learning from fabulous Maestro Pt. Ulhaas Kashalkar... All this while he continues to perform around the world as an accompanying artiste... In his heart he has worked hard towards making Harmonium solo performances a rich experience. It is a challenge of different kind but Milind's will power alongwith all his Gurus blessings and God's Grace, https://www.instagram.com/p/CAnPA3eJEn8/?igshid=80jy5wz2hjnt
