In a couple of weeks, I will be attending Duke Tip for the first time at Davidson college. I'm taking the Creative Writing program, which I am looking forward to. However, I have a few questions in relation to Duke Tip that I have not been able to find answers to. So, here goes: Do we find out who are roommates are ahead of time? If so, do we get any sort of communication with our roommates? And finally, is there anything I should know before attending Duke Tip?
Hi! You do not find out your roommate before TiP, but that makes it all the more fun!
The best advice that I would give anyone who’s going to TiP is to take a bunch of pictures and try EVERYTHING you can! It’s an amazing experience and honestly one of the best things in the world. It changed my life and just make sure to make every moment count.

I Miss...
I went to Rice term 1, but I think everyone can relate
Dive-bombing out of my Rice dorm bed.
Being too short to get into aforementioned bed, so having to a) get a chair or b) do cheer lifts with my roomie.
I miss my roommate.
I miss neuropsychology and all the hands-on stuff we did.
I miss the dances, I miss the signature TIP songs, and I miss the big circle for American Pie where you can feel the energy of everyone uniting as campers.
I miss seeing everyone at the talent show.
I miss hugging your friends who had to leave early on planes, and waiting with everyone who drives out.
I even miss those ER trips for knocks in the head...
I miss it.
I miss y'all.

There are a bunch of TIPsters on Tumblr, and I’ve been thinking for a while about making a network for us. So here it is. If you’ve participated or will participate in any Duke TIP Summer Studies camp as a student or adult, feel free to apply to this network. :)
why you should apply
You get to meet new TIPsters.
More people will follow your blog.
I will follow anyone who applies.
to apply
You must be part of Duke TIP in some way.
Reblog this post. Likes won’t count.
You don’t have to be following me.
Keep your askbox open.
I will message you asking for your name, your email address, a short description of your blog, and which term(s) at TIP you attended/will attend.
upon acceptance
You will get a spot on the network page.
Check your email.
Please add a link to the network on your blog and track the tag #tipislove.
Follow some other people in the network.
Please please apply? :) I want to see if we can get all the TIPsters on Tumblr into this network.

Hello TiPsters. I'm Tyler, and I'll be taking the place of Nicholai. I'm currently a 3rd year 3rd year. I went to Davidson and Duke East Campus. If you want to find out more about me, you can check out my TiPWiki page or my personal Tumblr (trombonetyler). I also encourage you to check out the Overheard at TiP Tumblr (overheardattip). I would just like to say that it is such an honor to be an admin on this page. Thank you.

My lovely tipsters,
My time as admin has come to an end. As a former fourth year as of a few days ago, I am ready to relinquish my adminship. I just can't keep with it anymore. I have left my spot in the very capable hands of Tyler, one of the most spirited and genuinely kind people I have ever met.
llove,
Nicholai

I might have already asked this. I have a couple friends from past years at tip, and will not be going this year. I will be going next year, though, as I will be a fourth year. I'm pretty shy (it actually is less severe as years go on), so how do you suggest I have the best fourth year possible with my lack of social skills?
The best advice really is to make sure you don't stay in your room too much. If you're outside, you WILL make friends, because in my experience most of the kids at TiP are gloriously outgoing and nice. I'm super shy as well, but I'm just going to be totally social. In my third year (first year third year) I stayed in my room a lot and only talked with my roommate and a few friends, and I regret it.
To be honest, just participate in all the fun activities offered; the dumber they seem, the more fun you're likely to have, and the more friends you'll make. I hope your fourth year is awesome when you go!!
