I HAVE ANOTHER (BETTER) QUESTION: if Valdemar is the Head Physician at the palace, are there others? Do they have underlings to take care of the menial problems of alive people, or do they have to act as the palace's general doctor? Do you have to deal with Valdemar when you have a cold, is what I'm getting at (& what is their bedside manner like if you do?) INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW
(Canonly? There are no others - not since the plague. But fuck canon.)
They have other doctors and nurses to handle the more menial tasks. They actually do enjoy organizing and tidying up, so they’ll do that themself. They’ll clean the vivisection tables and sterilize the instruments if they have to. Scrubbing the floors, though, that’s a task reserved for the underlings - ahem - interns.
If you’re a servant or a visitor, you’ll usually see one of the lower-level physicians. Valdemar rarely makes house calls. But if it’s a particularly fascinating case, you might be “lucky” enough for them to pay you a visit. Just don’t expect to see them if you have a cold. They will answer to Lucio or Nadia, though why either would ask for them is beyond me.
As long as you don’t have the plague, their bedside manner is surprisingly decent. They won’t sugarcoat anything, and they might make morbid comments while they work, but they’re a talented physician and they’re very thorough. You’ll get good treatment from them. They have no patience for crying or whining, though, so find something to bite if you can.

I'm bouta go fuckin wild,,, *mcdonalds drive-thru voice* hey can i have uuuhh.. some first meeting headcanons for Valdemar, Vulgora and Volta? like did they see their s/o and immediately felt drawn to them? did they not care until later when they actually interacted with them?
Valdemar was intrigued by their S/O upon first meeting them. Their choice of conversation topic was refreshing, and Valdemar actually enjoyed the brief moment they shared together. They assumed it was a passing interest - they’d always considered others to be disposable playthings, to be thrown away when they got bored. But when they shared another interaction, and another, they could sense that what they felt for this person was beyond curiosity. It was a foreign feeling, and though they felt conflicted about the best course of action, they decided to increase their interactions with the other and carefully observe both their own feelings and the other’s actions to determine if they were worth pursuing.
Volta was awestruck by her S/O from the moment she first laid eyes on them. They were so beautiful! So handsome! And they smiled so kindly at her, and treated her so well! Her puppy crush was painfully obvious, and only grew with every meeting she had with the other. She jumped at the chance to talk to them and followed them wherever she could. Neither she nor anyone else could deny the feelings she had for the other. Especially not when she offered to share her dessert with them.
Vulgora originally treated their S/O the same way they treat everyone else - brusquely and loudly. They’d always pushed people away with their attitude, and they didn’t care. Those people were all puny, weak cowards, anyway! So they didn’t expect the other person to…seek out further interaction with them. They were actually startled - not that they’d ever admit it. It took them a long, long time to admit their feelings to themself, and even longer to fess up to the other person. They were more obvious than they thought they were, though - they tried especially hard to impress the other with flashy stories of their conquests and victories.

OK SO ASSUMING THEY STAY DEMONS, What do the Courtiers think about Devil!Nadia? Do they work with/for her now in lieu of their old patron, or do they want revenge?
(Disclaimer: I haven’t finished Nadia’s route (either ending) so this may stray from canon. I’m only including the four horsemen because I honestly don’t know what happens to Valerius in her reversed ending.)
Valdemar has no loyalties - their only loyalty to the former Devil was their deal with him, and now that he’s gone, I can’t imagine they’d feel the need to stick around. However, if they did stick around, it would be out of curiosity. Having known Nadia (to some degree) for so long prior, they’d be interested to see how her reign would differ from that of the former Devil. Their relationship would be fraught with tension, but Nadia tolerates their (occasional) presence. As long as they aren’t a threat to the MC, she lets them lurk.
Vlastomil would feel neither the interest nor need to stick around, for potential deals or revenge. Having received his sacrifice from Lucio (though not at all in the manner Lucio would have liked), he’s content to go back to the South and live in comfortable solitude with his children. He’s a lot more hesitant to strike up deals with mortals, knowing how terribly annoying they can get when they don’t fulfill their end of the bargain.
Volta would stay, if only because she has no idea what to do with herself now. Nadia removes her hunger curse and treats her a lot more kindly. Their relationship is almost akin to a master and pet. Volta acts as an underling and Nadia rewards her with food and scritches - she loves scritches. Right behind her lil’ wings - that’s the spot. Volta adores her beautiful, beloved, kind Countess!
Vulgora, in typical Vulgora fashion, would want revenge. They were perfectly fine with the former Devil! They were having fun! And then Nadia came along and fucked up a great world-merging plan! Unfortunately for them, now that Nadia has the powers of a Major Arcana, revenge would prove a lot harder than they expected. None of their former deals for power and strength would be enough to take Nadia down, and they’d end up banished to some other realm - probably the Tower’s. Nadia just kind of picks Vulgora up by the scruff of their neck while they kick and yell at her and hands them off to their patron like “Come collect your kid.”
