Hey everyone!
I’m hoping you are all keeping safe wherever you are in the world.
As most countries ease lockdown measures and schools/universities will soon open again, I am conscious of people who are nevertheless still struggling in non-accepting home environments. This is why I wanted to update this blog with more resources. The link above is from Stonewall UK and includes a number of resources and ways to get support for a variety of different issues you may be facing (e.g. money issues, trans-specific care during the pandemic etc).
I hope this can help and please repost to help others who may need support too.
(Thank you for supporting this blog and for the positive feedback over the past few months since this initiative started in April. I created this to solve the problem of lack of streamlined resources for LGBTQ+ students during the pandemic and sustain a sense of community that was taken away from us so abruptly.)
Stay Proud.

Paul’s relationship with Ellie is really, really important. He got to know her, he fell in love with her, he kissed her, and then he realised she would never love him back in the way he wanted her to.
He had a perfect opportunity to simply walk away - but he didn’t. He took time to try and understand something about her that he didn’t know, and wasn’t initially comfortable with. And for no personal gain, he just....got over it.
He could have done the “but I’m a nice guy!” thing because, well, he is a nice guy. And that’s exactly why he didn’t. Because he actually IS a nice guy, and nice guys realise that they are not automatically entitled to someone else just for being so.
He didn’t sulk. He didn’t get mad at her. He didn’t make her feel guilty. He didn’t change the way he thought of her. And he continued to love her, but for exactly who she is.
I always think a good movie can be judged by simply asking “Are the characters better (or changed) for the experience?” And, undeniably, Ellie and Paul are better versions of themselves because of each other by the time the film ends.
The Half Of It isn’t a love story, but it is a story about love.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy (mentally and physically) and know that things will get better soon.
I started this blog as an initiative to help gather resources and support for LGBTQ+ university students who have to live in less-affirming environments after university closures due to the pandemic. This is for you and I hope this blog has helped you. (Thank you to everyone who follows and messages me with support for this blog). This was based on my belief in the importance of community and helping one another.
I found this website which “is a community-generated mapping project that geo-locates queer moments, memories and histories in relation to physical space.” I thought others would find it interesting and reaffirming that our community is large and wide and we are never alone.
Our experiences matter and things do get better. Go have a look and maybe add to the map :)

I hope everyone has been coping well so far.
I’m back to remind you that finding time for yourself, relaxing and healing doesn’t conflict with the idea of being productive.
I found some tips in this article really helpful and if you are a young LGBTQ+ university student in particular back at home in a less affirming environment then these ideas may help you stay calm and feel a connection to the LGBTQ+ community.
As always, if you have any questions, submissions or want someone to talk to, feel free to message me (even anonymously) and even though I’m not an expert I’ll do my best to support you. This project’s aim is to gather resources for young LGBTQ+ people being quarantined in less affirming spaces due to the coronavirus pandemic and support the community through volunteering. Thank you for your support so far and all of your messages and follows.

My favorite Pride moment was not from an event but it’s kind of related. I’m not from Australia but I still stayed up all night to watch the live results of the marriage equality referendum. I cried from happiness when it was announced that Australia would recognize same-sex marriages too.
It’s remembering times like these that keeps me going and keeps me motivated.
Stay safe guys!
As a lot of pride events are cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic, it can be disheartening for those who are now stack in conservative environments. I was personally looking forward to Pride in London.
Pride can now be online and information will soon be released about virtual events so make sure to keep in touch and get involved.
Pride is within us and it links with a sense of community, remembering how far we have come and keep sight of future goals.
Feel free to submit your favourite memories from Pride events and your thoughts on virtual events. You can do this anonymously if you would like.

share this for the sake of everyone’s mental health LGBTQ+ youth everywhere need us
Confidential Discussions During Lockdown
Missing your local LGBTQ+ centre/network/university society that you could physically visit and express yourself?
The project’s premise is to try and replicate that safe zone in an online concise environment. Apart from being able to submit posts and ask questions or offer advice on this bog, there are a number of worldwide sites with a similar premise and initiatives that offer confidential support by professionals, especially regarding mental health support aimed at LGBTQ+ youth. LGBTQ+ individuals are disproportionately affected by mental health issues and if you are feeling overwhelmed in environments that are not accepting, please reach out.

You are not alone.
I am networking with a number of university LGBTQ+ societies to help spread awareness of this issue and the resources mentioned in the blog but please share this so that more people are included.

STAY HOME - STAY PROUD introduction to the project
During a world pandemic, acts of volunteering cannot be overestimated. Now more than ever we should help each other and support one another. The LGBTQ+ community is especially vulnerable at times like these.
When I was younger, social media played a vital role in helping me understand and accept myself as a gay person. Now, I study Law at my dream university and I am proud of who I am and glad for all of the amazing people I met on the way.
I understand though that the current situation, which caused lock-downs and university closures, means that a lot of LGBTQ+ students who were happy and proud to be “out” at liberal university environments may have had to go back to homes, home countries and environments that do not allow them to do so anymore. This blog is for everyone’s use but particularly those students.
Project STAY HOME - STAY PROUD is an initiative that respects measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus and the importance of staying at home but at the same time aims to empower and support youth who have had to unexpectedly go back “in the closet” due to being dependent on homophobic families. This is a community project so it relies on your involvement. The project will include initiatives to ask or submit anonymous and non-anonymous posts or questions regarding your experiences or any advice you may seek or want to give as well as regular posts regarding this issue, aimed to help the wider community in dealing with the aforementioned situation. I am not a professional therapist, I simply want to help as much as I can and without any liability, as well as inspire the community at large to promote supporting each other at times of need.
Please repost this and get involved.

one of the best skills to develop is your ability to hear/read/see something and think ‘no, actually, that’s bullshit,’ regardless of who’s saying it and how much you trust them! you absolutely always have the right to interrogate other people’s views before accepting + assimilating them into your own. one of the worst feelings is realising that you “know” something is good/bad but you realise you have no actual personal understanding to back that up beyond ‘someone i trust said it’s true.’ always think for yourself and reject arguments that you don’t agree with!
