Concept: one of those cliché angel/demon romances, except the demon is the stuffy, orthodox one and the angel is like “hold my beer”.

13. “Hi, I’m the Grim Reaper, and this is Jackass”

All I can imagine is a home video of different demons and ‘devils’ just doing stupid shit in the human world.

“Hi, I’m the Grim Reaper, and this is Jackass!” A raven-haired man sitting on a sled said. He had light blue eyes, and a big, white grin. Remarkably though, he was only wearing shorts, showing off dark, scarred skin. Why was this remarkable? Because it was 68 degrees below freezing and he was on a mountain. A blonde man, with blue eyes, sat behind him, dressed appropriately for the weather.

“Alright! Abaddon go!” The blonde man pushed the Reaper, whoever was filming, watched the dark-haired man woop and holler as he made his way down, then suddenly, the man went flying off his sled and tumbled down the mountain.

The sounds of screeches and “OH FUCKING SHIT!!” Were heard as the camera was jostled as the cameraman made his way down the mountain, when they got to their friend, they found him scrapped up, but miraculously untouched really.

“God fucking damnit Reap.” Was all the person said as Reaper laughed loudly.

things i did that forced me to be a better artist:

used a reference for everything

thinner line art (you think thats thin? go thinner….)

sketch, then do a cleaner sketch, THEN start finalizing

THUMBNAILS

color research, picking a set palette or light/dark for each work

you like that pose? redo it one more time

USE A DAMN REFERENCE

do not rely on stylization as an excuse for anatomy

draw the goddamn background you coward

just draw the hand- a bad hand is better than a hidden hand

the rule of thirds WORKS

take a considerable break between sketch and lines/paint

know that art takes longer as you get better at it

draw the seams on clothes

stop aiming for accuracy and focus on fluidity and motion, accuracy will come with practice of those two concepts

just…do the chiaroscuro. just DO IT. no excuses it always works

stop making excuses, make yourself an art schedule/set weekly(or daily) art goals and just DO IT.
