Delicious, simple and healthy balanced salad. Perfect for when you’re in a rush or on the go as it took me less than 5 minutes to make. Simply mix lettuce of choice with some beans, I used a 4 bean mix, cherry tomatoes, carrot, half an avocado, dress it with olive oil, red wine vinegar and salt and add some ryvita crackers. The key to a salad keeping you full is to make it balanced. This salad contains a good amount of protein from the beans, as well as as healthy fats from the avocado and olive oil and carbohydrates from the crackers. If your salad just contains lettuce and tomato there’s no way that’s going to fill you up and honestly that’s just so boring. Mix it up, keep it interesting and add variety 👌🏻#myfood #vegan #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/BrlTrAHnsMO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=43ez7ytr7og

Important post about plant based milks!! Calcium is such an important mineral and its essential that we eat enough of it in order to strengthen bones and teeth, prevent the development of osteoporosis, regulate enzyme function and so much more! Some vegan sources of calcium include (but are not limited to) 1. Tofu: Ensure it is firm tofu, as it contains a higher amount of calcium than soft. 2. Calcium Fortified plant based milks: This is a big one! The milk you switch to must be fortified with at least 100mg calcium per 100ml serving in order to consume an adequate amount of calcium daily! I see so many people just buy any brand of almond/soy milk without even checking if its had calcium added. As much as I love the taste of BonSoy, unfortunately it is not a suitable milk replacement as its not fortified with calcium! Please always check the nutrition label at the back to ensure it has calcium added. Brands I recommend consuming are @vitasoy_aus_nz (especially calciplus) and @sogoodau (unsweetened is always the best option) Also, for this reason, I never recommend making your own home made plant based milks, it is just not enough calcium in them and you can risk becoming deficient. 3. Raw Almonds 4. Broccoli/Leafy greens: eg) Bok Choy, collard/cabbage. I recommend not replying on spinach for a calcium source, as oxalates can inhibit its absorbtion. 5. Brazil Nuts 6. Tahini: Ensure its unhulled Other sources include calcium fortified cereals and drinks. If you would like more information on what plant based milk is the best to drink and how to easily consume enough calcium daily, comment below and I can make a blog post or video! *information source: dietitians association Australia https://www.instagram.com/p/Brg8nNHnucr/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4ytg5gs4hs94

Whipped up some healthy strawberry “mylkshakes” which is perfect in this warm Melbourne weather. These mylkshakes are refined sugar free and a really healthy and nutritious snack. This recipe is high in: ✖️Fibre, which will help you stay fuller for longer and help regulate blood sugar levels ✖️Vitamin C, which helps strengthen your immune system and aid in the absorption of iron. ✖️Calcium - For strong healthy bones ✖️Healthy fats - which can help to lower your “bad cholesterol” (LDL) therefore reducing your risk of heart disease Its also a great source of antioxidants, which helps to decrease inflammation. Recipe is below! (Makes 2 serves) - 2 cups unsweetened almond milk by @almondbreezeaus - 1 large frozen banana - 1 cup frozen strawberries - 1 Tbs @mayversfood Natural Peanut butter - 1 Tsp Vanilla extract (optional: 1 Tbs plant based yoghurt - I recommend @impressedjuices almond milk yoghurt in the “natural” flavour) PS How cute are these 50s style glasses? #myfood #vegan #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/BrWmBupn7XM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xjhqnea2vl5z

I have been absolutely loving my go to post workout smoothie lately, it’s delicious, creamy, chocolatey and just really hits the spot 👌🏻 Not only that, it is super healthy and contains many essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals as it’s high in ✖️ Protein - essential for muscle growth and strength, very important for after a workout ✖️ Essential omega 3 fatty acids - anti inflammatory and protect joint health ✖️ Potassium - Essential for fluid and electrolyte balance ✖️Calcium- helps maintain strong bones. Did you know, calcium is especially important after a workout as it helps to prevent bone mineral losses that occur during exercise? ✖️ Carbohydrates - to help replenish glycogen stores after a workout I simply blend 2 cups of @almondbreezeaus unsweetened almond milk with 1 frozen banana, add 1 scoop of chocolate hemp protein powder by @180nutrition, 1/2 Tbs @loving_earth cacao powder and a dash of vanilla extract. Simple, healthy and delicious. I always recommended that if vegans are going to have protein powder, it should be hemp, as it contains essential omega 3 fatty acids that other protein powders lack. It can be tricky (but not impossible!!) for vegans to consume the required amount of omega 3 daily, which is why I think hemp is much more superior over rice or soy. Ensure you are purchasing one with no added sugars or nasty chemicals 🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️ the brand I use is @180nutrition as they hit all these requirements and the powder tastes great. #myfood #vegan #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq-vNsXn3zb/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1re0orhboiqkl

Bit of a different post to normal. But to just had to share this amazing photo. I recently went road tripping along the great ocean road where I camped in some of the most beautiful places. It’s amazing that sometimes you don’t even realise these amazing places exist so close to you. This is now probably my favorite beach I’ve ever visited, if you’re ever traveling along the great ocean road definitely stop here, it was honestly breathtaking and in my opinion, way better than the 12 apostles (although I thoroughly enjoyed that too) #nature #melbourne #greatoceanroad (at Loch Ard Gorge) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq8OohZnEGS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1vgv3epaiy8t9

Whipped up some delicious veggie fritters the other day and served them with some sweet chilli sauce. Super easy and quick to make. These patties are: ✖️High in protein due to a secret ingredient (perhaps chickpea flour?? ☺️) ✖️High in fiber due to the vegetables. - fiber helps to keep us regular and also helps to lower our cholesterol levels. ✖️ Contains essential omega 3 fatty acids due to the flax meal, which is essential for reducing inflammation and can help to lower the risk of heart disease ✖️Gluten free and vegan Serve them with a salad and you’re set 👌🏻#myfood #vegan #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq6mhySHjXI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=168ltnw12tr1z

Hello! I haven’t posted on here in what feels like a million years! Im terrible I know! I just wanted to share with you guys this amazing masala chai by @chaiaddict_melb that I’ve been having pretty much every day. (Swipe across to see) Its so simple and easy to make and it works for iced chai or a chai latte. I just poured 30ml of the chai concentrate into a glass, added almond milk and a bit of sweetener and thats it! Chai in literally 30 seconds. Of course add ice if you want iced chai and heat the milk if you want it latte style. Its vegan, handcrafted in Melbourne, organic and sugar free and most importantly tastes delicious, I’m obsessed with it and I’m so glad I found it. PS Im going to try and post more regularly, apologies for my absence. #myfood #vegan #plantbased https://www.instagram.com/p/BqwE1Kun5FK/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1v3f66aeln31e

Had the most delicious brunch this morning at @soulfulveganfood in Mornington. I had the granola with plant milk berries and banana with a turmeric latte and my boyfriend had the vegan pancakes. It was so delicious and so filling, honestly one of the best granolas I’ve ever had and the pancakes were amazing too. If you’re ever in the area I highly recommend checking this place out. We went to the peninsula hot springs straight after this, so safe to say I was a good day 👌🏻👌🏻 #myfood #vegan #plantbased (at Soulful Vegan Food) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bon5NpknrJM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xnueudfct889

Todays lunch was super simple, delicious, high in protein and filling. Mixed lettuce tossed with beetroot, roast pumpkin, avocado and cabbage with a olive oil vinaigrette dressing and vegan chickpea “tuna” on top. To make the chickpea “tuna” simply mash 1 can of chickpeas with 2 tbs of @followyourheart vegenaise, 1/2 tsp dried garlic, 1 tsp lemon juice, fresh dill and salt to taste. This salad is high in protein, fibre and healthy fats, helping you to stay full and satisfied. It also contains iron and vitamin C, vitamin C is essential for the absorption of iron. So if you’re looking for a super quick, easy, yet filling and nutritious lunch try this recipe out 🥗 #myfood #vegan #plantbased

If you asked me 3 weeks ago if I liked kombutcha I would have told you I’d rather drink drainwater that consume it. Wow have things changed. I had only ever had kombutcha once and it was some random brand and the flavor was terrible, I absolutely hated it. My boyfriend has been trying to get me to ages as he loves it. He finally got me to try some and I thought ok his isn’t so bad, then a few weeks ago I tried this raspberry lemonade kombutcha by @remedydrinks and I am in love. I have been drinking kombutcha every day now thanks to this brand and flavor, I’m actually obsessed. If you don’t like kombutcha I 100% trying @remedydrinks raspberry lemonade, thank me later. I now understand the kombutcha craze. I have been converted 😂😂 #myfood #vegan #plantbased
