We are super excited to share our latest project. The site, which has ocean views, allows us to explore a dialogue within the house. The program is broken down into areas that have Prime views and ones that have Standard views. All Prime views face the ocean with floor to ceiling glass while Standard views have smaller punched windows. This creates a fun tension from the front of the project to the rear which we resolved with a series of connected overhangs for shade. The overhangs are used to protect the southern facade from the summer sun. Construction is set to begin in a couple of months and we are stoked!!

We're always toying with new ways to present architectural concepts. This was made for a competition on low income artist housing in Lexington, KY. We animated it to easily show how the artists could interact with these spaces. #movingUP

Introducing Build UP // West Beech, our latest project which has a couple of fun twists to it! As a studio that focuses on concept-driven design we've always been interested in designing sustainable single family homes in areas that have vibrant, walkable downtowns. However, we hadn't been given the opportunity to do it yet so UP decided to do it ourselves. West Beech is a four bedroom, 2,700sf home that maximizes efficiency and sustainability by creating an "active core." By locating all of the home’s essential functions into a single core, a free floor plan and facade are created. Passive shading strategies are utilized on the home’s southern facade and a 10 foot cantilever on the northern facade provides additional covered parking as well as signifying entry. West Beech will be put on the market in the coming weeks. Stay here for Architectural UPdates and follow our sister company @buildupwestbeech for marketing UPdates. So pumped!!!

Using subtle animation in architectural diagrams can help clients, city boards, and the public visualize how an unbuilt space can be used. We recently created a course where we explain things like how this motion graphic diagram helped us win a architecture competition by showing how the future residents could inhabit the proposed live/work space. We believe that brand design is so valuable for new architectural developments that we collected our thoughts and references into a new section of our site. Explore www.theupstudio.com/designxarch/ to see what we mean and send us other great examples of brand design for architecture!

Our goal is to create a consistent experience for every single interaction a customer has with the brands we design for. The new website for @mudgilderm completes another piece to that puzzle. //See the full architecture, interiors and brand design project at theUPstudio.com/mudgil (at Long Island City)

Check out our latest project, a groundUP residence in Florida. We arranged the home into separate family zones allowing us to break down the overall massing while creating a sense of ownership for all the occupants. This rendering is of the entry and in the coming weeks we will be sharing more images and diagrams. #rampUP
