PLOT DROP: BROKEN TRUST

In the early hours of the morning, an urgent fire message was sent out to all members of the Clave;

EMERGENCY MEETING. All Shadowhunters are to report to The Gard immediately.

The meeting was organized quickly and efficiently, extra security measures taken to ensure no arrival to Alicante was unnoticed. All those who answered the fire message were met by guards at their designated portal location, the name and time of each arrival (along with the warlock who made the portal), documented before the Shadowhunters were escorted to the Council Hall. The Council awaited them there, urging all who arrived to take a seat so the meeting could begin. An hour or so after the fire messages were sent, the doors of the room were closed and all entry to Alicante was blocked, chatter diminishing as the Consul walked from their seat to the podium. Once the room was completely silent, the meeting began with one simple but dreadful sentence...

We've been betrayed.

According to witness accounts of the guards on duty, between the hours of 4:00am and 5:00am, a portal was opened near the north gate of the city, the wards around the perimeter noticing the activity but not sounding any of the alarms. No Downworlder or demon presence was detected, and so usual patrols were continued as the source of the activity was searched for. Activity was once again detected near the Artifacts Vault, guards sent to investigate. When they arrived, they found a bloody scene; Shadowhunter Owen Proudroot was murdered, and several important documents of the Clave were missing.

The intruder alert was immediately activated, and the Guard went on lock down as those on duty searched for the attacker. A portal was once again detected by the north gate before the alarm, this time a guard on the towers spotting a brunette dressed in black clothing leaving through the portal. A bloody Seraph blade was found where the portal opened, leading the Council to believe a Nephilim was responsible for the attack and theft.

A description of the woman the guard saw was given to all those in the meeting, alongside a list of all known deserters who fit the description, as the Council believed the attack could be politically motivated. All members of the Clave were ordered to come forward if they had any information regarding who the woman could be, the few who did lead out of the room. The rest was asked to aid in the investigation, retrieving the documents that were taken of utmost importance for the safety of the Clave. 

They were advised to be careful with the attacker, and regard her as dangerous. They were told to bring her in alive, but were not discouraged from using force if necessary.

A new mystery has been added to the list! Or at least, a mystery for the characters. Make sure to check out Skylar Thowlett's Solo for more information about what happened!

All characters who work for the Clave would have been present at the meeting and were given the information necessary to begin investigating. The Council definitely wants them to keep things a secret, but that obviously doesn't have to be the case. Make sure to plot with others as how to get involved!

Members of the Authority and the United Worlds Association however should also be aware an incident occurred in Alicante and that something important was stolen. No matter how quiet the Clave wants to keep things, some rumors just can't be stopped from circulating.

What exactly was stolen is not being shared. All characters know is that it's important, and on the wrong hands capable of hurting the Clave.
