Which is better?
(A) Let me save you x Please save me
(B) Let me save you x I cannot be saved (but I want to be)
(C) Let me save you x I refuse to be saved (but in another life...)
(D) Let me save you x You can try (gets hit by a concrete truck)
oh man. with the exception of (a) I feel like these all serve slightly different purposes for me, though I think (b) and (c) are where my heart lies in terms of these dynamics.
though I feel like my relationship toward "let me save you" ships is that in order to really work for me there always has to be at least an element of both people involved being really fucked up, and often the "let me save you" character's desire in that direction being motivated by their personal issues (witness, for example, steve/loki and some versions of xuexiao). I am much less interested in a relationship where there is a straightforward "one person is fine and well-adjusted and the other one is a mess" - the dynamics are tastier when both characters are messes, but differently.
so I guess maybe I'd add to these:
let me save you (because I can't save myself)
let me save you (because I couldn't save someone else)
let me save you (because I need to feel like I can fix something)
let me save you (because I need to justify my existence by doing something that feels measurably good)
and all of these are going to impact and shape how the other character interacts with that impulse, and also how the other character shapes the arc of the first - because that underlying motive, ideally, should drive character development over the course of the story as well as the texture of the particular relationship.
but all of that rambling aside, because I am curious:

Y'ALL THIS IS THE COOLEST FANFIC I'VE EVER SEEN.
It is a complete narrative about SecUnits on a Planetary Survey trying to communicate and keep their clients safe while dealing with the restrictions of their govmod.
IT IS ALSO A FULLY INTERACTIVE GAME OF MINESWEEPER.
The story is told BY PLAYING MINESWEEPER.
This fic is criminally underrated go look at it!!!

The hanged man understands that his position is a sacrifice that he needed to make in order to progress forward [...] His upside down state can also symbolize the feeling of those that walk a spiritual path, for they see the world differently. Where there are others that do not understand the need to sacrifice, you see it differently.
Sacrifice Sunday: Justice / Martyrdom / Greater Good, for @andersweek2025
Ps. I'll use this post to thanks the organizers and mods of the event 🩵 this has been so fun, and I've loved to see all the works that people created!

i love tragic characters who get their whole world ripped out from underneath them and then completely fuck themselves and everyone around them over in the most violent unnecessary ways imaginable

immortality as theft (you have to steal life from something else) immortality as parasitism (there is something else inside You that is keeping you alive and you become less of yourself more and more the longer it stays in you) immortality as violence (everything is trying to kill you because everything is supposed to die and the universe will always try to find a way to right the wrong that is You) you understand

[Legacy. Passing on something precious to the man you love, the man you’re desperate to trust.] I got emotional equipping Anders with the Malcolm’s Honor staff during the legacy dlc while he’s near-constantly having a breakdown over the level of control he has over his own mind. It’s like trying to ground him. Like saying, “Look, love. You’ve already been carrying the torch my father passed on. His, mine, yours, ours.” (Like giving yourself something to look back on, so you can tell yourself: I really tried.)

are you ever about to put on a movie but you realize you don't really want to watch The Movie, you want to be eight years old on a rainy saturday, and under your favorite butterfly blanket, and mom made hot chocolate and popcorn with extra butter, and you're watching The Movie for the first time ever? what are you supposed to do then

A lot of people have commented on how Redcliffe in DA:I looks nothing like it did in DA:O. But actually there is a canonical reason for this. You see when Anders blew up the Kirkwall Chantry, the destruction was so great and so wide that debris flew all the way to Ferelden and reshaped the landscape. This was revealed in a hidden codex entry found by clipping through the windmill.
