DPxDC is a playground with vast possibilities. Whether it’s a cute comic shipping characters in different media or a vast epic exploring the themes of life and death in two different settings that have different relationships with the topic, there is so much potential for creativity. You all came together to show a glimpse of that here. We as a mod team want to give a special thank you to everyone who helped make this zine possible, we appreciate each and every contributor, and each and every person who has made this fandom what it is today. Thank you for your ideas, your stories, your art pieces, your creativity. You are what keeps this fandom alive and you are what makes this fandom so utterly special.

As you open this zine you will find a large array of stories within this crossover. Fics where Jazz is a member of the Green Lantern Corps, or stories where Danny meets Barbara through a computer, art pieces of Tim investigating the mystery that is Amity Park and the Super Sons plus Dani playing in a park. In the ultimate test of stealth (and a clear misuse of Bruce’s money) the Bat kids decided to see who can sneak up on the most thugs while they’re all wearing light up shoes. Specifically, the ones that light up whenever you take a step.

Oracle is the judge of this competition, and makes sure they all have equal chances to show off their skills.

Dick starts walking on his hands.

I feel like at some point in the night, Red Hood grapples down from above, Landing soft enough the lights don’t set off. His shadow extends down the ally, his frame backlit by the street lights on the road beyond. The muggers can really only see a shadow and like fools they go “get out of here if you don’t want to join him.”

Hood laughs, stomps his foot, and watches the crooks begin to panic as the dim light of the shoes reflects off the blood red of his helmet.

Tim is weirdly light footed, as is Damian. After a bit of practice, the two of them figured out how to walk and balance their weight in a way that won’t set the lights off. Dick and Jason think they’re cheating, but when the brothers test the younger two’s shoes, they’re operating perfectly.

Cass is Cass.

Steph is just there for a fun time.

Duke works in the daylight. Since he wants to participate, Tim rigs a pair of shoes to sing “here comes the sun,” Instead of light up.

The most valuable thing I learned doing a Masters degree with depression, anxiety and ADHD was to change my “things I’m bad at” list to “things I can’t do on my own.” Stop thinking of them as things I could do if I tried hard enough, and accept that I can’t accomplish them by effort and willpower alone; they’re genuine neurocognitive deficits, and if I need to do the thing, then just like a blind person reading or a mobility impaired person going up a storey in a building, I need to find a different method.

I’m “bad at” working on long-term projects without an imminent deadline or someone breathing down my neck? Okay, let’s change that: I can’t work on long-term projects without an imminent deadline and someone breathing down my neck. So let’s create an imminent deadline and recruit neck-breathers. Find a sympathetic prof who will agree that 3 weeks before the due date they expect me to show them my preliminary notes and bibliography. Get a friend I trust to block off an hour to sit with me and keep asking, “Are you working on your project?” Write a blog post about my progress. Arrange to trade papers and proofread them with another student.

Accept your limitations and learn to leverage them, instead of buying the neurotypical fairytale that they’ll go away if you just try hard enough.

Lex Luthor hates Superman, Lex Luthor hates the Justice League, bla bla bla… You know who Lex must really hate? Bruce Wayne.

Because he knows that bitch is Batman. He’d worked it through that big brain of his and he’s without a doubt certain that the same idiot who spilled champagne on him last New Year’s Eve moonlights as the Batman.

But he can’t fucking prove it. So he’s resigned to a lifetime of having to make stilted conversation filled with double meaning while Brucie just flutters his eyelashes and pretends to be a ditz. And Lex just has to sit there and take it, because Bruce knows that Lex knows and absolutely uses that knowledge to fuck with Alex at every opportunity—he says the absolute shittest, godawful pickup lines and flirts to his heart’s content, knowing full well that he helped Superman kick Lex’s ass last week and that Lex knows it was him.

IDK how humanity will ever recover from the damage created by COVID conspiracy theories. Like, of course we are seeing a huge spike in serious respiratory illnesses, we just experienced a period of time where it was common to travel long distances and be in confined spaces with multiple people while sharing food and drink. And COVID is still kicking about, not to mention it is flu season and N5N1 just claimed its first victim. Your local health authorities and medical professionals are not fucking lying to you. Wash your hands, wear a mask, avoid crowded places and stay home if you’re sick. Many hospitals are already feeling overwhelmed. Try not to end up there.
