Last week, I learned that the English language has more euphemisms for death than any other language. I learned that the ancient Greeks had no word for the colour blue and that the Hawain alphabet has only twelve letters. I spent last week hollowing out a little place in my heart and filling it with worry. What does that say about us? Do we really go out of our way to avoid death like that? How did the Greeks describe the sea? Are twelve letters really enough? Does every language have a word for love? Every language should have a word for love. And compassion. And gentleness. And figs and snow and that soft sensitive part on the inside of one’s arm. We should have words for everything so that we don’t feel alone. We need very very very specific words for all of the different kinds of sad and even more specific words for the kinds of happy. What if we were able to talk about everything? I want to tell you how I feel and I want to be precise. Sometimes ‘good’ just isn’t enough and few understand what I mean when I say that I feel ’like lightning.’

Reblog this if you’re pro-receiving a brown paper package containing one (1) handwritten love letter, a small jar of strawberry jam from the farmers market, and a smattering of pressed flowers.

someone: i don’t know, philosophers are kinda pretentious
me, lounging on a couch with wine in one hand and a well-worn, century-old greek copy of plato in the other, daintily munching on leibniz butter biscuits as i daydream about being transported into 19th century germany and debating the philosophers who shaped the future in which we now live, brilliant and slightly disdainful of the world around me: why ever would you say that

dark academia tea guide
to relax after a long study session or before bed time: fruit tea, chamomile tea. Get yourself some honey if you like.
when you want to feel healthy: Any kind of herbal tea, matcha, nettle tea, green tea.
to get a boost of energy: green tea, black tea, white tea or any other variation that contains caffeine. Make sure you make them right or they´ll get bitter.
on a cold winter day: Chai, ginger tea, rooibos tea. Use spices, especially cinnamon.
during summer: barley tea, iced fruit tea, hibiscus tea. Don´t worry about hot tea in summer, it´s actually even better for your body than drinking ice cold drinks.
Get yourself the most visually pleasing cup you can find and go for it. If you like you can sweeten your tea with sugar or honey or add some milk. For green tea never use boiling water (60-80 degree celsius should be fine) and take the teabag out after two or three minutes maximum or it´ll end up being bitter. Figure out what you like best and what works best for your kind of green tea. The quality affects if it gets bitter easily or not.

i think it is very important to remember that you can like dark academia and dumb rom coms. you can read sappho and the hunger games. you can like libraries and tailgates. you can listen to mozart and taylor swift. you can admire monet and fan art from a show you watch. you can like cottagecore and like to party. you can watch obscure foreign films and the office. what is life without variety. stop stopping yourselves bc it doesn’t match your aesthetic.

Introductions are in order
What would you get if you combined Zooey Deshenel, Wednesday Addams, Ramona Flowers, and Eliza Doolittle?
Probably me.
I’m a little on the odd side. I used to wish I could be someone else. Someone...normal. The truth is no one is “normal”. In fact if you are one of those people who brags about how “normal” you are (ie Vernon Dursley), you are probably very boring indeed and not someone I want to get to know.
So here it is. My blog where I will write about my interests and how I see the world. Give it a follow! It’d be really cool if you did😊.
