via NYPost: Immigration and Customs Enforcement is preparing to launch a “big f–king operation” across sanctuary cities — including Chicago and New York — immediately after President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, multiple sources told The Post.
Starting Jan. 21, multi-day “ground operations” will be launched across cities that have served as safe havens for migrants because the local authorities do not cooperate with the federal government when it comes to immigration issues, sources said.

Hey, if you do crafts (especially things like crochet, knitting, embroidery, etc), make sure to look up how to identify when a listing is AI generated. You do NOT want to waste money on an incredible looking kit or pattern that is physically impossible to make, especially if you're on sites like etsy hoping to support an actual artist.

An ex-colleague of mine was complaining to me the other day about the ai problem in her students' papers, and I told her, "Just make your students hand-write them in class. Easy." She looked at me like I was insane and tried to explain how that would never work, but I just said,"That's how we did it for a thousand years. The invention of word processors doesn't erase all that."
To me it seems obvious. Readings are done out of class, handwritten essays are done within it. No more ai papers.

reminders for today:
if you or someone you know might need it in the next few years, purchase plan b. the shelf life of plan b is 4 years, and we might not be able to access it as easily as we can now in the days ahead.
if you are larger/plus size: go online and purchase ella instead of plan b. plan b is less effective if you aren’t under 160 pounds.
if you can, purchase books that project 2025 is looking to ban.
mass deportations are starting. if you see ice vehicles or agents, yell ice raid and la migra as loud as you can.
if someone asks who you voted for, keep your mouth shut. they’re fishing for traitors.
if anyone, anyone at all asks about your neighbors or their legal status in the us, you know nothing. don’t be the reason that their family is separated.
if anyone asks about your religion or lack thereof, keep it vague. this administration will look for any excuse to persecute you.
your friends are trans or queer? for the next four years they’re not. don’t expose anyone’s status as a trans or queer person to anyone else, even if you think you can trust them.
did someone you know get an abortion? no, they didn’t. they were never pregnant.
in short, don’t be a snitch, and keep to yourself these next four years. we’ll make it through this even if it seems hopeless at times.
this is all i can think of at the moment, but i’ll be adding on to this as the day continues.
we can survive this. we’ve survived before, and we’ll survive again.

Quick reminder as we head into Trump’s first week in office. We are about to see an onslaught of executive actions designed to strip of us our rights. We’ve seen this before.
Many of them won’t be legal, many of them won’t take effect immediately, and some of them will be just plain nonsense. Trump alone can’t change the law (yet anyway- that’s Congress) and there is an official government process for enacting most executive actions that works slowly.*
There will be time to fight against these orders—either by stopping them entirely, weakening them, or at least slowing them down.
The purpose of doing so many terrible things at once is to scare us. Is to intimidate us to cede more ground than we need to. Don’t let them.
Stay engaged, stay angry, stay hopeful (or spiteful- me tbh), and—most importantly—stay strategic. Find an organization you trust, follow them, and take action when they ask you to.
(Side note- pick just a few issues to care deeply about and only follow a few organizations you trust. Don’t try to solve everything all the time or consume every piece of news. You WILL burn yourself out and that’s not helpful for anyone. Trust me, speaking from experience. Staying 15% engaged is better than 120% for three months and then 0%).
What we’re seeing right now is a backlash to decades of progress—a dying (and by extension dangerous I’m not gonna lie) breath of those in power desperate to maintain control. They wouldn’t be trying to squash us if there wasn’t something to squash.
TL;DR- there’s gonna be a lot of bad stuff in the news today. Don’t give into panic. There will be time to fight most of it. Stay engaged.
*Unfortunately, there will be some actions the President can control on his own and will take effect immediately. ICE Raids being one of them. Here’s a Know Your Rights factsheet. To learn more and stay informed on this issue, recommend following National Immigration Law Center, CASA, Immigrant Defense Project.

This is no hate to you at all (I've been following you for a while), and I'm curious as to why "man hating" isn't considered progressive. If it's because "man hating" diminishes Trans men and Transmascs the right to exist, then I can understand that. I know TERFs and radfems (they're literally the same ngl) usually go overboard about it, and are borderline supporting the idea of committing eugenics towards men since they somehow don't understand that marginalized men do exist.
I consider myself an Intersection Feminist, but I'm still learning about the concept of intersectionality. I would like to know what's the difference between man hating and having valid criticisms about men (especially cishet white men, including those who are also rich, Christian, abled bodied and neurotypical). I acknowledge that marginalized men exist, but I'm still trying to figure out what is man hating and what is just a criticism.
Anything helps! I'm just really confused by this, and I would like to see someone clarifying this.
I'm curious as to why "man hating" isn't considered progressive.
i know you're just asking a question, and i deeply appreciate that. but this particular sentence is extremely disturbing. please re-read this sentence. please ask yourself how that could ever, possibly, in any world be progressive. like seriously. i am very curious as to how you see it as progressive. please just take some time to reread that and think about it. to help, let me phrase it like this:
"I'm curious as to why "woman hating" isn't considered progressive." Is this okay to say to women?
women can and do hurt people. terfs and rad fems are women. some of the most abusive people in the queer community are literally cis women. terfs and rad fems are cis women. they're not safer to be around because they're women. abusive mothers exist. abusive partners exist. if it's not okay to hate all women for the individual acts of women who have hurt people, how on any planet in our solar system would it be okay to do the same to men?
profiling people based off of their genders is not progressive. hating men will not patriarchy go away. hating men will not stop toxic masculinity. only a very tiny percentage of men benefit from patriarchy. there's a high chance most men you meet are actually at a disadvantage, either for their disabilities, their race, their neurotype, and so on.
man hating hurts queer men. i'm happy you're asking about this, but it disturbs me deeply that people think it's 100% okay to hate even queer men. queer men. why the hell would it ever be progressive to hate gay men? that's literal homophobia. hating bi men is biphobia. hating trans men is transphobia. hating intersex men is intersexism. this affects genderfluid, genderqueer, nonbinary and gender non conforming men.
this hurts men who haven't hurt you. manhood isn't what hurts us under patriarchy. it's specific men. you should never hate someone who hasn't hurt you. that's never okay. telling men that they'll always be evil hateful abusers who can never get better strips away individual mens' accountability from situations where they hurt someone else. hating a man for being a man is removing their ability to be accountable, especially if you're deuhmanizing them.
profiling strangers based off of the way they look, act, and sound hurts everyone. there are trans women and transfemmes who have to go stealth or never transition. there are trans women who identify as men. there are trans women who received shitloads of hate for being a man before they came out. is that fair to subject them to? is it fair to subject a questioning trans woman to scathing hatred before they've confirmed it or come out?
man hating is not gender liberation. we are not being oppressed by manhood. we're being oppressed by individual men. getting rid of manhood is not gender liberation. it's literally the exact opposite. we have to liberate everyone of every gender, or none of us are free. i hope this helps. thank you for taking the time to stop by and please consider that you and everyone else needs to care about men because we are human. we are not evil abusive assholes who deserve to be hated, especially when we are queer, and the people hating us are also queer. this will never, ever be okay.
here are some more points articulated by another asker:

How people can mistakenly think or just subconsciously feel food works: there are “unhealthy” foods like pizza or fried chicken and “healthy” foods like fruit salad or steamed vegetables. Every time you eat an “unhealthy” food you’ve harmed yourself in some way.
How food actually works: foods contain carbs, proteins, fats, sugars, vitamins, minerals, fiber and/or other nutrients. Your body needs and uses all of them but it would like to have a little of everything every day. If you ate pizza or fried chicken for lunch then that’s probably your fat and protein for the day with extra that your body will make use of in time, so it’s a good idea to make your next meal something different like that fruit salad or steamed veggies. You can have that fatty lunch every single day if you just maintain balance and stay active enough to actually use what you’re stocking up on because foods aren’t “good or bad;” they just either fit into the rest of your diet and lifestyle or they don’t.
