*THIS IS IMPORTANT!*
Because no one has pointed this out yet, I would like to point that these four girls Quvenzhane’, Amandla, Zendaya and Blue Ivy ALL have one thing in common. And that is that they were completely ripped to shreds by the media and they all still stand firmly in their blackness!
Quvenzhane’, first caught heat at 8 when she became the youngest Oscar nominee ever. And the racist remarks didn’t stop there when she was bold enough to be the face of a white classic “Annie” she was faced again with the harsh realities of racism. She was even called a cunt by grown ass men! Then there’s her name which is part Swahili meaning fairy was not only butchered in front of the world but it was completely thrown out. Many reporters began calling her “Q” or even worse “Annie!” Let’s keep in mind that Tchaikovsky rolls off of their tongues effortlessly!
Amandla, who we all know to be out spoken about racism and Black Women’s rights was a laughing stock at the age of 12 when Hunger Games fans went crazy when their precious Rue was going to be portrayed by a beautiful black girl. Some even saying that her being black ruined the entire movie and that her character’s death wasn’t as sad because of the color of her skin!
Zendaya, E! hosts declared that she probably “smells like patchouli,” or “weed.” Zendaya was attacked for the SAME hair style (locs) that whites are praised for. Not to mention that she has her own Disney channel show which ruffles feathers even though there are at least 15 other shows that star white actors. One Black girl is just too much for them!
Blue Ivy, this one hurts me the most because she is so young. Before she was even born memes were made of how ugly she’d be because she would inherit Jay-Z’s wide nose. Blue Ivy was a target for ridicule before she could even speak! Now at the age of 4 Blue Ivy has endured severe criticism for her natural hair. Crazy right? The way a four year olds hair NATURALLY grows out of her scalp is a legit problem for people. Well of course it is because anything resembling ANY kind of blackness is an issue!
But here they all are standing in solidarity with not just each other, but with Black girls world wide! This is something to be celebrated! Thank you Beyonce’ for showing black girls from all walks of life that we are beautiful and we are indeed magical! Stand firm in your #BlackGirlPower!
If someone hasn't checked up on you in 2-6 months, they don't really fuck with you . And they don't deserve to know what's going on in your life now .
This is pretty self-centered thinking as if other people don’t have real shit going on. Did you check up on them? Did it register that them being absent is a red flag? Idk man. You gotta step outside your own perspective for a second before you jump to conclusions.
