This was news from thee newscast here (Tagesschau) so the article is only in German but here my favourite parts:

- for a long time the only reason they knew the worm existed were the traces it left on the corals it ate, no one ever saw it

A snake doesn't want to waste its venom on defence if it can help it; it needs that for prey. A spider will flee from you before biting because it's frightened for its life.

Dangerous animals signal tha they're dangerous, poisonous frogs are brightly coloured, venemous insects are too.

Every venomous snake in this country has a display just for warning you away! Brown snakes, red bellies, tiger snakes, they are related to cobras and flatten out their hoods and rise up. Other species gape. They musk and jab before they bite.

I've lived in Australia my entire life and spent a lot of it whacking around the bush. I used to collect snakes and amphibians for the museum, and do population surveys of turtles. Do you know what the most dangerous animals I've ever encountered are?

Breeding bulls and feral pigs. As soon as a snake as a chance it will bolt and hide, it will escape you. A pig wants to kill you. A feral pig will go out of its way to hurt you. It's 6ft of black wire hair and rage and alarming intelligence. A snake is just a little guy.
