Hello Tokyo Debunker fandom, this is my first fanfic ever, please don't crucify me. I don't know what possessed me to write this.
Yuri Isami x Reader
TW: Mentions of blood, descriptions of pain, mentions of surgery
A shooting pain ripped through my body, waking me from my sleep. It radiated from my lower torso, like a white hot flame searing my organs. Obviously something was very wrong. With one arm wrapped around my waist to try and stifle the pain in some way, I fumbled through the dark to find my phone. Emergency calls didn't exist at Darkwick, or if they did, no one ever told me the phone number to call for it. My thumb quivered as I tapped at the contact for the only doctor who I knew would probably be awake right now. The phone rang 11 times before sending me to voicemail. I let out a sob as I clicked call again.
After four rings, the call went through.
"Do you know what time it is? This had better be important-" Yuri sounded pissed, but sleep hung thick on his words.
"It hurts. Help me please." Talking didn't hurt per say, but with the waves of agony rippling through my body, it was hard to say much else.
There was silence on the other end. And then, "I'll be there soon. What hurts?" His voice was calm, professional even.
"M-my stomach. Or next to it. That area."
"... Alright. I shouldn't be long." The phone beeped as the call ended. I pressed my hands into the area to see if the pressure would alleviate the pain, but all it did was make it so much worse. I writhed for what felt like hours in a dazed state from the pain. I could barely register my bedroom door opening, lights flickering on, followed by rushed footsteps to my bedside.
I felt a hand press against my forehead, before I heard, "Point to where it hurts."
I pointed just below my navel, my hand shaking as I moved it.
"I'm going to lift your shirt." Yuri warned me, before I could feel a slight chill on my lower abdomen. I could feel his fingers prodding where I mentioned, and my whole body shook from the pain that accompanied. I whimpered and let a few tears slip out. I cracked my eyes open, and was met with the sight of Dr. Yuri Isami, hair tussled, wearing what must be his pyjamas.
"I'm pretty sure your appendix ruptured. I'm going to take you over to the lab to preform surgery. Hold still." He spoke firmly. I could feel one of his arms curl under my legs, his other one supporting my back. I could feel his arms slightly shaking from the weight, but he held firm and didn't drop me. I rested my head against his bicep, clutching my stomach. Yuri walked quickly out of my room, trying his best to maneuver around while holding me.
"Jiro wasn't picking up his phone, and he wasn't in the lab. I'd usually have him carry you, but this seemed urgent." The night air of Darkwick bit at my skin, but it was ignored in favor of the heat flashes I was feeling. I barely registered us walking into Mortkranken, all I felt was me being placed down on a surgical table. Yuri quickly connected me to an iv, before telling me, "You'll be out in a second. I'm preforming surgery." He had me count down from 10, and I barely hit 6 before everything went dark.
I woke up what felt like seconds later, my torso sore, but nowhere near as painful as earlier. I was still on the surgical table, but I had a thin blanket thrown over me. Above me was a lamp, but it was off. I turned my head to the side and saw Yuri sitting in a chair, his arms resting on his knees, his head pointed at the floor. His white and blue striped pyjamas were covered in blood, and his hair looked even more disheveled than when he had first entered my room.
"Im assuming it went well?" I asked him, grabbing his attention. His head snapped up to look at me, before he sat up straight and put on his usual cocky grin.
"Of course it did, I was your doctor." I could practically see his ego. "That is the first time I've ever preformed surgery alone, though. I will have to have a talk with Jiro later about keeping his phone on him." He looked irked.
"Thanks for picking up the phone. Sorry about waking you up." I said, not actually feeling sorry, but also not really knowing what to say. "You had a good enough reason to call me, just don't make a habit of calling me at three in the morning." He stood up from his chair and walked over toward me. "I had to do an open surgery instead of the less invasive one, so recovery will take a while. You should feel better in about six weeks." Yuri picked up a bottle off of the desk a few feet away from the surgical table, "You'll need to take antibiotics to make sure that you don't get an infection." He handed me the bottle. "If you get a fever or if the surgical site feels hot to the touch, come back immediately." Yuri handed me a shirt. "I had to cut the one you were wearing off. I went back and grabbed this while you were unconscious." He averted his eyes and said, "I can bring you to the recovery wing, you should be able to leave in the next day or two." Yuri helped me get off of the surgery table, and we made out way to the recovery wing.
"You know, this is the nicest you've ever been to me." I spoke. Yuri glared at me.
"I have no idea what you mean by that." His voice was as sharp as his gaze.
"I just thought you'd give me more shit for waking you up in the middle of the night." I shrugged.
"It's not your fault that your appendix burst. I'm usually awake at this time anyway." Yuri helped my lie down on the bed in the recovery wing, before he stood up straight and crossed his arms.
"I'll check in on you in the morning. Get some rest." He turned on his heel.
"Hey, Yuri. Thank you. Seriously." He didn't turn around, but I could see the tips of his ears flush. "I'm a doctor, it's my job. But... you're welcome." And he left the wing.
