"Hey! How are you Ann?" He smiled at her and straightened up, brushing down his coat.
Mattie smiled and waved, leaning against the door and staring as she started to dissapear with the small sidewalk traffic. “..Hell.”

Mattie waited nervously by the counter, but excited too. He ran his hand back through his hair for the tenth time that morning, not sure when Ann would show up. Everyone in his family woke up at ungodly hours of the morning so he'd been hanging around since about 6.

"Do you want to get coffee later?!"He called, half hanging off of the restaurant door. "..We can meet here tomorrow morning if you want? There's a lot of nice small places around town"
Mattie nodded, watching her walk out and calmly leaning against the table. He was fine. He would probably never see again. No use getting all worked up over one person.
“Fuck.”
It took him less than a second to sprint out the door. “Ann!”

Mattie smiled back at her, thinking about saying something other than the usual but backing out at the last minute. "Thanks for stopping by, it was a pleasure to have you Miss Ann. Enjoy your visit in New Orleans.." he said softly.
Mattie watched her from the counter, wanting to talk but not really sure how to without looking like a stalker. So he just walked over (maybe rushed) when she was done, handing her the bill and reciept. “I-Its 10 dollars.” He slipped up.

“Oh of course! Sorry I didn’t catch that.” He exclaimed, turning on his heel to grab the water pitcher then refilling her glass. “If you need anything else, y'know.”

"It'll be ready in about 15 minutes." Mattie nodded and smiled at her before disappearing into the kitchen. He came back several minutes later with the hot plate, setting it in front of her. "Here you are Miss Ann. Anything else?"
“That’s cool, it sounds nice there. One of my uncles lives in New York City sometimes. I’ll be right back with the menu.”
Mattie smiled and nodded at Ann before walking quickly behind the counter to fetch her water, returning after several moments. “Your water and menu Miss Ann.”

"Shrimp etouffe? That's one of my favorite." Mattie said, leaning over a little to see where she was pointing on the menu. "Its a little spicy, but just enough for flavor. If you're not good with spice we can cut down on it for you." He gave a little nod, scribbling her order on a notepad.
"Anything else for you? We make really good bananas foster for dessert."

"Its nice to meet you Ann. Are you from around here?" He queried. The Creole reached for a menu then laughed softly when he didn't have any. " - Can I get you a drink?"
“All right, right this way.” Mattie smiled, showing her to a nice two person table by the window. “My name is Mattie, I’ll be your waiter today.”

"What can I get you? Table, booth, or counter?" He asked, waving at the girl at the register to let her know he could take this customer.

The little restaurant was full of quiet chatter, the busiest hours of the New Orleans morning finally over. Mattieu was helping his uncle wipe down some of the tables, fixing the flowers, folding napkins.. He hadn't been here in a while since he lived in Vegas now, school keeping him from Louisiana except during the occasional long break and during the summer. Now that he graduated he had a while to relax until he threw himself into college. He looked up as the tiny bells attached to the doors mingled, smiling at the person entering. "Good morning!" The young man called, straightening up.
