My take on this is that Kris isn't necessarily kneeling here out of some kind of deep loyalty but because the Knight is pushing them down with its sword until they fall.

it's both a kind of acknowledgement of strength (a knighting) and a cheeky reminder from the Knight that they could have Kris's arm off, if they really wanted to.

The thing is people are worrying about the wrong thing when it comes to Kris telling Susie about the SOUL:
