Well for one, Jesus himself never explicitly said that he was against gays. The whole basis of homophobia in Christianity is based off of one line in the book of Leviticus in the Old testament. Which is just another thing that men in higher standing with the church used to rally up against minorities to increase their power, influence and wealth. Even today supposedly leaders of Jesus promote God's word in a twisted way against fellow neighbors which Jesus told us to Love.
