Shoutout to transmascs, masc women, enbies, and cis men who are too small to fit comfortably or stylishly into most men’s sizes (and may simultaneously be too big to fit into boys’ sizes)
And shoutout to transfemmes, femme men, enbies, and cis women who are too big to comfortably or stylishly fit into most women’s’ sizes.
I see you. I hear you. I am one of you.
Sincerely,
a slightly-built masc person with hands and feet smaller than some eight-year-olds’
#If a shirt fits my top half it’ll be too narrow in the hips or stomach#it it fits my hips the neck will be too big OR the sleeves will flare out weirdly at the shoulders#I wear a boys’ size 4.5–5 shoe… which is fine but most normal places don’t have super nice shoes for kids#except for like… Levi’s or Polo#Which are still expensive but much cheaper than the adult version#And as far as gloves go… I don’t even fit into most women’s gloves#trans#queer#nonbinary#gay#lesbian

One thing about riding a bike to the store on a moderately warm day is that no one prepares you for the Ass Sweat That Makes You Look Like You Pissed Yourself

#Usually I choose the latter and it just makes it worse#I guess people think I’m charismatic??? I’m not. My charisma is a bunch of stress responses in a trench coat#My happy demeanor is actually just me laughing at the end of every sentence to make sure people can tell I’m joking#and not being mean#I’m not actually listening to anything you say; I’m mentally checked out and autopilot is making me mirror your body language#I’m not poised; I’m hiding the fact that it took me a good three seconds to understand what you meant by that question#so I’m responding “yes” first so you’re not waiting in silence for my real informed response

Basically republicans want to make it so your ID has to match your birth certificate which affects everyone from trans people to married women to immigrants.
Meanwhile, in GA, they're going to force all ballots to be hand counted, which could make it difficult to meet the deadline to certify the vote, and thus potentially allow them to give the state to Trump regardless of the outcome.
In many states, such as Ohio, Florida, Texas and North Carolina, they've been purging voters from the rolls by the millions.
If voting didn't matter, why are they trying so damn hard to stop us?

You may remember that I once told you something about the Halligen in the North Sea? Those mini islands where sometimes there is only one house and they are regularly under water and only the house is still dry? Well, the inhabitants have to commute from the mainland to the Hallig with a wagon and that only works when the water is low. This is what the whole thing looks like .... a bit creepy, isn't it ?

When it comes to sensory issues in autism I really wished that more people talked abt being sensory seeking/hyposensitivity since it seems that it's mostly sensory avoidance and being hypersensitive to sensory input being talked abt.
I'm both sensory seeking and avoidant both hypersensitive and hyposensitive however I lean more onto that sensory seeking side. And seeing it rarely talked abt made me feel so disconnected from other fellow autistics tbh
I wish more ppl talked abt things like:
-abt the feeling abt being understimulated because you do not have that sensory input you need
-constantly listening to music /needing background noise in order to fulfill said desired sensory input and feeling like ur going insane without it and liking noise
-liking to touch things/being touched (like liking hugs a lot for example, that's something that helps me with sensory input a lot)
-often chewing on things(tho that is something I see getting talked a bit more!!)
Etc!!

Rare Language Learning: Polari
If you have ever used the words:
- Naff
- Butch
- Camp
You have unknowingly been speaking the sociolect known as Polari, the language of queer people primarily used in the 30s to the 70s. Polari is now an endangered language, as labelled by the University of Cambridge
Something of note: Many resources out there imply (or state) that Polari was a language invented and used solely by white cis gay men, which is decidedly untrue. Many words of Polari come from drag culture, lesbians, and the Romani people and their language. The use of ‘the language of British gay men’ may be a more palatable title to the general public, but it is not to me. I did my best to curate a variety of resources, but unfortunately much of queer history has been lost many more decades than I’ve been alive, if you have any other resources for studying Polari I would love to read them, message me or leave a link in the replies.

There is so much amazing about this. It's an archeological museum in 530 BCE or so. Also, the exhibits are labeled in three languages. Also they apparently had replicas on display for some things, much like modern museums do.
Humanity has not really changed that much, and some of the ways in which we haven't changed are really good.

Mahmoud Darwish is a Palestinian poet, you'll hear people quoting the title of one of his poems a lot.
"On this land [exists] what deserves life."
"على هذه الأرض ما يستحق الحياة."
It's a long poem where he lists beautiful things and people in his day to day life that simply deserve life.
My favourite line is "the tyrants' fear of songs"
"خوف الطغاة من الاغنيات."

NASA advertising "do you want to be an astronaut" to tumblr users surely means something. What have you found out there, NASA? What have you found that you believe tumblr users, specifically, are best equipped to handle?
